FedEx Flight Info For the Super OCD

Both flightstats.com and flightaware.com say it hasn't taken off yet, but list different scheduled departure times (11:18AM and 11:00AM respectively), odd. Still, if I had to take a personal guess, I'd say it did actually take off, and the flight tracking sites don't have the updated info yet.

My fedex tracking page has updated recently, but only to show that it left Shenzhen at 12:09PM. So.... if that's actually correct, I'm guessing my phone isn't on FDX 4.

Other way around. I have it for a fact that FlightAware gets their data directly from the FAA and ICAO. More often than not, airports get their data as a prescheduled set from the airline, with preset times for departures. When the time at the airport in question hits the departure time, they mark it as departed. This doesn't take into account taxi times to the runway, flow control and metering outbound and inbound to their destination, curfew at the destination, etc.

FlightAware and others that get their data from the FAA, other countries' respective avaition authorities, and ICAO, get the data in real time. If it hasn't departed on FA, it hasn't departed.

BL.

Interestingly, I still haven't received a ship notification from apple. I found my fedex tracking number via that URL someone posted to track by reference number (my cellphone number).

Reminds me of Dell. I live in Reno, and Dell has a warehouse in Sparks, which is right next to Reno and is where the UPS facility is located. When I've ordered things from Dell such as monitors, I'd often get the Dell ship notification the day after the monitor arrived. :p

Slightly off-topic, but my Apple order status still says prepared for shipment, but clearly I have a tracking number and my phone is being shipped. Is this simply due to the fact that Apple hasn't updated their orders yet?

Edit: Very similar to fo0bar's post above...

Interesting. Obviously this means only one thing: A highly organized group of Eastern European terrorists have infiltrated Hong Kong International Airport, and hijacked FDX4 to suit their political agenda.

Or perhaps they like iPhones.

If that's the case, then why are the departure times listed in the notes column on Hong Kong Int'l's website different than their scheduled departure times? (e.g., "Dep 10:50" when it was supposed to leave at 11?)

I think the interesting thing is that the Hong Kong Int'l website shows the times in HK time while FlightAware shows the times in UTC, yet they both list 11:00 as the departure time for FDX 004.

I just received the shipment notification. Nothing I didn't already know by now, of course.

Ha Ha this is awesome. I have a reservation at my apple store but watching you guys track with all this ocd....great:)

Ok guys,

just got official word from both Apple, and FedEX. They said that the phones will be coming in from Australia on Oceanic flight 815. Not sure what's up with that, but that's what I was told.

So fedex drivers carrying iphones will need security guards but apple and fedex are just freely telling strangers where huge shipments of them will be? Doubtful.

Maybe Apple has hired a special brigade of kangaroo cops and is picking them up on the way.

Serious, it doesn't seem logical that FedEx is going to fly the iPhones down to Aus. and then to
the US.

Edit: D'oh! The LOST reference flew right over me. In fairness I never watched the show.

Lol... I get the lost reference... Gave me a good laugh ;)

My brother and me are both waiting for out iPhone 4s and I was sitting here and he said that he just read that one of the fedex flights carrying iphones crashed lol. I was like what really until he made fun of me. :(

What the hell. Mine still says, " In Transit: Lantau Island, HK". What is my iPhone doing? Enjoying a nice vacation before it is even on the job?
