Maybe the 6S Plus can't compete on metrics, but metrics only matter in so much as they do something useful, and using both phones side-by-side for typical phone tasks, there was very little difference.
You have simple needs so older phones work for you. If that satisfies you that’s great.

You’d be wrong. 5g needs a redesign. The 2019 pro phone is the S year. And Apple didn’t make up with Qualcomm for nothing.

In addition pencil support is coming. iPhone has to be redesigned for it as well. At the very least a flat edge like iPad pro to charge it.

This is kind of an S-S year, if you consider X >> XS >> 11 Pro with roughly the same FF, display design (aka notch), so I'd be __really__ inclined to believe the next gen will be a notable change.

That's a really interesting point about the physical design, needing a flat edge to charge the pencil, I'd suspect, if they provide 2-way charging via the rear for other phones/watch/earpods, the pencil would work on the back as well (maybe a "hot" pencil mag area[?]), but that's not a good packaging for slipping the whole thing in your pocket (though the iPhones are touch shorter, and have buttons on both sides ... maybe a "shorty pencil" :D)

I bought the 11 Pro in midnight green yesterday. It’s 256GB just like my iPhone 8.

Anyway, I feel ripped off and thinking about returning it. It’s more than twice the price, but it’s not twice the phone. I was honestly looking forward to this purchase. I thought that I would be satisfied, but I’m not.

In fact, I hardly notice a difference between the two phones in terms of usefulness. The OLED is a little better, but I honestly don’t notice it. I feel that my iPhone 8 is still plenty good and fast with iOS 13. I don’t play games and I feel that I don’t need the better internal specs.

Battery life on the 11 Pro is better. That’s the only advantage that I see. Otherwise, the Pro is just too bulky and heavy. I feel that the 8 is the perfect size for one hand use.

It just feels like the latest and greatest doesn’t offer anything particularly worthy of an upgrade, especially at $600 more.

I’ve seen plenty of posts about how smartphones have reached a plateau and now I finally understand what that means.
Good, now you're that you're here on that plateau. return the phone. move on.

Those thinking that next year the iPhone will be the same with just the 5G upgrade, is wrong.

It is a bit too early to say anything as nothing is confirmed.

However I do remember reading news about Apple Pencil support for iPhone 11 but that didn’t happen, so it is obvious it will be released next year.

I also read that next year there will be a notch less phone as this year will be the last since iPhone X to have the notch,

Anyway, most of the guys who are buying the iPhone 11 will probably buy the iPhone 12 anyway. So discussing this in detail is pointless.

Nowadays spending $1500 for a phone is no big deal. We are seeing phones like the Galaxy Fold being sold for $2000 and also being sold out.

Many sites have confirmed that the next model will have lots of changes.

I think I didn’t realize will be a higher refresh rate display. Must add that to the list above.

You could keep your 8 or try the 11 to save some money since it seems you are not interested in the advantages of the pro version. As others have said though, you don’t really have a right to feel ripped off.

Someone doesn’t have a right to feel a certain way... what freakin’ country do you think we live in?!?! We don’t control our citizens that way.

How did they confirm rumours 12 months ahead of release?

I have no idea. Probably because this year leaks were already out that Apple will have a new form factor next year.

You can check various Videos on YouTube, most if not all say the same.

"......the rumor should be treated with some skepticism."

I have no idea what country you or he lives in. I’ve furthered my position within this thread and I stand by it, put as many !?!? next to your words as you’d like. 😃

Ripped off? Did someone force your hand with the credit card? Does it lack anything Apple promised you in the presentation?

I had the 8 as well and it feels night and day better than my 8. Screen is light years better and just a massive upgrade. But that’s just me

Idk why people thing they need to purchase the latest and greatest and then complain. You don’t have to upgrade. If your devices works fine then by all means keep it. The 8 is still a good phone and should last more years. My issue is that I’m indecisive and always have buyers remorse. I don’t have buyers remorse with this but I am wondering if I should return this and get the note 10+.

The iPhone is dead innovation-wise. The only exciting thing about next year is the smaller 5.4" model for one-handed use. Otherwise 5G, a redesign, and no notch, are not big changes. It would take a folding iPhone for things to be exciting again.

It's kind of the opposite... my needs are for new capabilities, not just incremental improvements to existing features.

I don't care if an app opens slightly faster... or if the screen has perfect blacks in the dark... or if the camera includes improvements but mostly under limited shooting parameters (I shoot with dSLRs).

Does any of that add up to $1200 in incremental value over my current phone? No... just like I won't buy a new $1,200 MacBook every year only because it is faster and has a better screen. That said, at least the MacBook is useful for work.

Plus, the notch is horrendous and once they get rid of it, nobody will want these things.

If your experience is disappointing you can always return it. I traded in a 10XS Max for the 11 pro. I needed a smaller phone and better battery life. Yea, maybe the difference is not as big as it could be, but the screen is sharper to me and I’ve had the X, XR and XS Max and this one has the best battery by far. With my trade in, the price was what I consider reasonable for the latest Iphone. For me this was a definite upgrade.
Do you notice significant battery life between xr and 11 pro(small)? If so, how much?

I'm normally an Android guy but have been going back n forth to iphones for awhile, just my regular cycle of phone insanity. Have had an 8 (regular) for a few months and it really is the perfect form factor. If the rumored new 12 is 5.4" with full screen and Face ID I think that'll be a winner. In the meantime I recently tried an 11 for a week, hated the huge size, returned it, then an 11 Pro which as better but still quite heavy and bulky. Went back to the 8 and my Pixel 3. The Pixel has some software weirdness and other known oddities so I think I'm going to sell it. So of course today I went back and grabbed another 11Pro to see if this one last longer than the last. I do prefer the updated FaceID over the laggy button on the 8. Anyway I have almost a month of return window to play with it. All this to say smartphones of both flavors have definitely plateaued...I guess give Apple a tiny bit of credit for at least coming out with cutesy colors !

Came from an iPhone 7.
I like the phone a lot but I don’t know if I love it to pay £1000 for.

I’m considering returning and trying to hold out with my 7 for longer.

The 5.4” model that’s due next year has peaked my interest. May be cheaper than this years 11 Pro.

This was me last year when I got the xs max lol. I definitely had buyers remorse. It doesn’t feel twice the phone. Anyway I still stayed with the max but I am not going to upgrade to the 11 pro max.

I think this is the reason Apple will likely launch a base iPhone (SE or 9 or whatever) in Spring for $399. Most people just don't need all of the bells and whistles, so it's good to have choices.

I agree that "ripped off" is a poor turn of phrase for this situation. Perhaps, "disappointed" would be better. It's ok to be disappointed with a purchase. It happens. Just return it.
