I am fascinated with the Netherlands, very strong team play so far compared to Argentina as far.

This is not a very talented Netherlands team. Louis van Gaal gets them to play solid team defense at the World Cups and ride their luck a bit when it comes to scoring. Not enough creative firepower to score a second goal with time running out to take this match into extra time.

[EDIT: WHAT. DID. I. JUST. SEE. LVG really knows how to play the spoiler.]

That fight on the pitch was stupid from both sides, just wasn't necessary.

This isn't a good start for Netherlands' penalties, now they lost the 2nd penalty shot.

Two really good saved by Emi Martinez made the difference in the end.

Tomorrow's games have some very tough acts to follow.

Martinez is an excellent goal-keeper (and I have long thought that Arsenal should never have sold him).

However, today's games ought to (finally, further) reinforce the idea that teams should be advised to practice taking penalties, and to practice the taking of penalties, especially when they are tired and stressed.
