I mean I still have hopes for Croatia to do some damage in the 2nd half, not giving up just yet.
I have to give credit where due though, that 2nd goal from Álvarez, was mind-blowingly fantastic.
A bit lucky, but as they say: the harder you work, the luckier you get.
The only reason I want Argentina to lose because if they win and go and win it all, we will never hear the end of it from the footballing world about it being Messi's world cup blah blah blah and just how good Messi has been throughout his career blah blah blah and that winning the world cup would make him the best player the world has ever seen blah blah blah. Please hell no, we do not need this. Portugal lost and look at how much press coverage Ronaldo keeps getting. It's going to be a million times worse if Argentina get to win the world cup.

I hope for a good second half too. I want to see 11 shellshocked Argentinian faces after 3 very late goals. I’d rather see Modric lifting the World Cup than Messi to be fair. He’s a good sportsman.

One of the best footballers, yes, I acknowledge that, nevertheless, that does not (in any way) detract from my dislike of Argentina, a dislike, by the way, that predates the "Hand of God" incident.

I want France to win now, a European winner all the way. As much as I respect how good Messi was and is, I don’t particularly like the bloke and his attitude at times. I hope he is disappointed come Sunday evening.

Discounting Mbappe. Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar have been the best players in football and none of them have ever won the World cup. Messi now has a chance to change that and also to change the conversation in Argentina which has always been that Maradona won the cup for Argentina but Messi never has. Most of us Brits dislike the Argentinians because of the Falkland war, and I can see that. However, i spent some time in Argentina specifically Buenes Aires and loved it. Very European in fact you would swear you are in Italy.

As for the argument of how a talented - even an exceptionally talented - footballer has never won a World Cup medal.......well, many countries have had extraordinarily talented players who have never (for a variery of reasons) won a major international trophy, such as a World Cup.
However, on the night, much though it galls me to have to concede this, Argentina were the better team, and tonight was also one of those nights where nothing went right for Croatia.
