Could be as less and less people are actually using that manuals and instead finding help through forums like this or other sources such as tutorials on youtube.
Anyone have any first hands experience yet?
Yep.

My hunch here is that, because FCP 7 is still limited to using 2 cores for RT...
Regarding FCP 7 using only 2 cores for RT (on Leopard), this info was from a call to FCP tech support. Would love to be wrong, though.Where did you see that printed?
I hope this turns out to be the case. The Macworld review for FC 7 had this line; "While Apple states that there will be performance benefits from running Snow Leopard with Final Cut Pro 7, no new features are enabled by running it". I couldn't find that information any other place, like in an Apple document. Anyway, those benefits may be use of grand central and OpenCL, along with 64-bit capabilities.
Thanks for the pic, SonicJay. That's a clue to the price drop, for sureKinda glad I have 1&2. I actually have used the Bibles, both for Logic and FCP. Lots of excellent info, but certainly NOT the way to learn the program.
Kinda sad actually....I dug the "Hard Copy"....not so fond of PDFs.
Mine arrives tomorrow. Have you installed yet? Are you going from FCS1 to 3 or were your running 2? Anyone else have actual user experience yet? I'm a bit nervous to install right away, I have a couple of projects to wrap up first before the leap. Interested if anyone is having issues or if all looks good.

Abandoned? No. Put on the back-burner? Yes.So does anyone still doubt that Apple has abandoned the pro market?

..Fix long standing bugs and issues.

Anyone with experience on the new software yet? Any issues to be aware of? Or is it smooth sailing?

Has anyone installed yet? I got mine yesterday, both FCP and LP. A bit leary of installing now, but I did wrap up the post of two of my three projects last night. I have another wedding to shoot this weekend with a 4 week break between it and the next show.
I am REALLY itching to do the upgrade. I do have FCP(6) on my MBP if all goes bad, I suppose....I could edit the final wedding on my laptop
I think I am gonna install it tonight...LOL. What the heck, we only live once, right? (I always tell my clients the video production is a 4-8week turnaround during peak season, this will save me, I think....)

I installed it the night before last, and did one really short super basic project last night; worked beautifully, but I really didn't do much. Captured 2 hours of Mini-DV, a few cuts, a few audio ajdustments and a 3 way color correction, then tried the new Share (replaces Export using Compressor) to output for Apple TV, but didn't have time to watch the file on the TV
I am still exploring a recently installed FCS3. What I have found is that I still need to export to a QT file from FCP then drop into Compressor if I want to use the Qmaster cluster on my Mac Pro. The direct 'send to Compressor' from FCP continues to fail when the job is submitted to the cluster. In addition, when I try to quit Final Cut Pro I get a further error message 'You cannot quit Final Cut Pro while rendering a job for Compressor'. I don't recall FCP 6 adding the error message and refusing to quit.
As I understand the reason you had to leave FCP to use the cluster in FCS2 was a licensing issue - Qmaster tries to invoke multiple instances of FCP and so looks for multiple licenses. So, not really a bug as such, however I had hoped that in FCS3 this might have been sorted out so that we could avoid the extra steps of producing a QT file and having to quit FCP.

But the point is, FCP7 simply doesn't have enough compelling features that matter to me to run out and upgrade. I think I'll wait for the next release when Apple has something significant to put on the table.
