This looks so much worse and makes the phone look unbalanced. People have been complaining about the notch making the phone not symmetrical but this is even worse because now the top corners don't match the bottom corners.

I would honestly stop using any app that decides to force this notch hide on me.

Apple's guidelines restrict developers from hiding the notch because it is the notch itself that makes the iPhone X distinct and identifiable. They want people around you to know you are using an iPhone X. If you hide the notch, it looks like any other full screen smartphone.

Then don’t buy one. Plenty like rounded corners and *gasp* even the notch!
Daily life has lots of notches. Think of it like the person in front of you at the movie theatre.

After a few minutes, barely noticeable.

Haven’t sat in a non stadium seating theater in over a decade. Consider that technology improvement, notch removed

My point is that just like bars or frames on windows, pillar on your car, trees or building obstructing views, the notch is a necessity of bare essential physical material that cannot be displaced.

At least not yet.

But until we have such complex sensor array shrunk to 20% it’s current size, or be buried under the screen, I’d much rather have the notch than thicker bezels, or asymmetrical bezels.

I didn't think I would like it until I actually tried it. Now I am obsessed with the notch-less design!

I think the notch was intentional because it lets you know it’s an iPhone. Smart on Apples part. Doesn’t bother me. Bothered me in the beginning cause of all the posters posting about it.

How is it smart ? It’s not like the notch is a selling feature. The Apple logo on the back takes care of that.

Let’s everyone know you have an iPhone. I have a case that covers the logo and I’m sure many others do too.

I could care less what phone everyone uses. I don’t use it as a status symbol. Many cases have cutout on back to show off the Apple.

Intentional because they needed the front facing camera apparatus. No one in their right mind would say “ok guys let’s make our phone distinguishable by making it uglier”. By that logic, you may as well spray paint the back of your phone yellow. This way you’ll always know which iPhone X is yours. You could say that is smart on your part :)

The notch is ugly. Call it what is is and let’s move on. It’s an otherwise beautiful piece of tech. Nothing’s perfect

Apple care what others see. Very smart on Apple’s part. Distinguishes other devices from the iPhone. People are saying the notch is because of the Face ID sensor. But it was intentional.

it should work on all apps like photos and videos where it matters most. on the home screen it doesn't bother me. I have a solid black background anyway so I never see it

“It” is just wallpaper. How do you propose a wallpaper can “work on all apps”?

It's not an OS hack or anything it's just a wallpaper, i.e., an image with the top designed to look like a curved upper display area.

I get that. I just know Apple’s history with things that go against their design guidelines. Anything that tries to mask something they don’t want hidden is going to cause problems.

After I few days, I don’t even notice it anymore. I mean, I know it’s there but I’m not saying, “omg it’s annoying.”

Doesn’t bother me now. In fact I like how to splits the top so I know where to swipe down.
