7 plus can't touch the 8 plus. I had one before my 8 plus now. Night and Day difference.

Watching videos on the X is smaller than the Plus model when watching it with the black bars on the side for proper 16:9 format.
The X also has less usable space than the Plus.
What's so hard to understand?
There's two types of iPhone users. One’s who utilise their phone as a tool, for life, for business, education etc..They dont care about brand, status or cost. They need their phone to be reliable, practical & failsafe in communications.
Then theres the crowd that look down & judge everyone else “My phones better than yours” type...These types need no further explanation imo, other than they are the types that usually shout loudest. Generally Obnoxious types.
My phone is unlocked and on the home screen as I take it out of my pocket using Touch ID

Glad to hear I'm not the only one. My 6s would get hot just from playing any video so I deleted it off my phone and just use Safari atm, even though you can't adjust the video resolution
P.S. thank you for the battery life comparisons (TomsGuide & PhoneArena). I had a feeling something was up with the random ones on YouTube and I trust those websites much more.

Download TubeX. I use it for now to watch videos and my phone battery doesn't eat up any more and stays cool. You can adjust the resolution too.
The iPhone X is clearly a device still in beta, that’s why you also skip the first version of new Apple hardware
I suggest you, and others, go to Phone Arena website and use their phone comparison tool. Pretty obvious when seeing the phones layered on a calibrated display why many think the plus screen is a better size and looks bigger..

X screen is the same or a little larger than 8 plus. Have both and can easily compare. Yes it’s close I get it but man it’s reaaaaallllly splitting hairs

Doesn't really matter which screen is bigger. It's which apps are bigger. iOS is optimized for iphone 8 & 8 plus. Not the X. I don't see a glaring home indicator line at the bottom of each app on an 8 Plus because that's stupid. You see battery % at the top like one should. You see videos not clipped or cut off because the 8 plus is at a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. For those who care about experience, the X is too beta. Apple and devs need much more time to get it right but this specific X version may never get right due to its bizarre aspect ratio. Apple will need new hardware for that.
These are the reasons I am considering returning my X and getting the 8 plus. I’m very happy with my 7 plus but I do need a better camera for business and better battery life is a huge plus. Can anyone give me some input as to whether the X camera is truly that much superior to the 8 plus? I do take selfies often for business (I sell clothing and cosmetics) but I tend to find that portrait mode gives photos an overedited look. I am still undecided on the whole true color thing. Some photos look good and some appear way over saturated. I despise the screen glare on the OLED display. I am one of those that loves to have the newest thing, even if there are imperfections, but I’m seriously reconsidering this one. The camera is the biggest selling point for me though and I’ve read reviews and such but I’d love input from those of you who have actually used both. Is the X’s camera truly that superior to the 8 plus?
Why didn't Apple just take the 8+ screen and remove the home button, lower bezel, and have a small bezel (instead of a notch) at the top so that the usable screen size was exactly the same as the 8+? The iPhone X would have still been smaller than the 8+ without cutting out and/or shrinking useable landscape mode real estate in videos and games.
It seems to me that they did it to differentiate the X from the 8+. If they had more courage, they would have just switched the 8 plus to a no bezel, no home button, no notch design, instead. Those huge bezels make the plus side phones awkwardly oversized for most people and are increasing looking rather old fashioned. It will be interesting to see what they do in the next update.

This. Times 1000! Comparing the X to my 7 plus, the X is a sleeker looking phone. But I’m so disappointed in the screen size. I’m so torn. I can’t decide if I’m exchanging or not. I think I probably will until Apple either releases a X plus or makes some changes to the current X.
I think they wanted to really push the iPhone design forward. Doing what your describing would be a somewhat lazy solution and not really push the boundaries at all. Plus, I think they had to keep around the home button and touch ID for one more year as more people adapt. Lot's of people aren't ready to make the jump to the X.
You know the 8 Plus has advantages and the x has advantages, I’m glad the 8 Plus suits you where as the X is perfect for me! As long as the options work great I’ve got no complaints I’m happy with either phone
Funny.... I felt that way during the weekend about returning the I phone X. I have adjusted and like the I phone X more. Texting is much better with one hand now with no screen loss.

overall however, X is more advanced IMO. I too struggled with coming from 7 plus but now finally getting used to my new X! I think of it as coming from a Chevy Suburban to a smaller SUV like an Audi Q5 for example, may not fit as many people, or can't go over rocks etc. but its more 'luxury'. I just wonder HOW long it will take apple to release X plus?? I think it will be sooner than most think?
People want the top of the line device. In this case, the top of the line device has certain practical drawbacks to SOME people. In balancing the 2 factors, some are deciding to stick with the 8+ and they feel the need to justify that decision to others.
