THIS will forever tarnish the Samsung brand and could not have come at a better time for Apple.
Only until Apple has the same problem years after.
[doublepost=1475719091][/doublepost]Battery is another major reason I reject wireless headphones.
I do not want one day my ear has smokes out from my wireless EarPods.
All wireless headphone praises, see this. If anyone can make sure their products are 99.999999% free from explosion and battery recharge issue, I will follow. Otherwise, NO!

It does sound suspicious though because he has a ton of Android options as a replacement including the Note 5 which isn't affected but decided to jump ecosystems requiring repurchase of paid apps and the iPhone 7 Plus has issues of its own. The sensible thing to do is replace with Note 5 since it has pen or iPhone 6S Plus. This one definitely requires an investigation.

Guys, guys, it's really suspicious that he didn't buy an old phone from the same vendor that already replaced his faulty phone once only for it to go on fire on a plane. Wake up, sheeple

Key word is "consistency". When testing multiple iPhone 7 samples it's only consistently rated for the lower IP67. You might find one that's lucky and do a bit better. Or, you could be unlucky and it doesn't even survive a shallow toilet drop which someone posted about their iPhone 7 recently in the iPhone forum.

Actually the key point was about a company that has an overly aggressive, do and say whatever it takes to win culture that has landed them in the hot seat many times before.

While the CNN test might be an outlier, would it really surprise anyone if we found out that Samsung gamed the IP certification process by producing test models to a higher standard and then cut corners during manufacturing to save a few bucks? After all, their Activ line passed IP certification but the mass manufactured models failed tests by independent 3rd parties.

This one is for you Samsung...

While I have only speculated, IMO there is some type of random hardware issue/design causing the fires. Could be poor QC during assembly? Some phones may have bad boards?
To me this is not over, and goes beyond batteries. While I know little about how fast/wireless charging works, it may be worth noting that even with complaints the iPhone still ships with a 5w charger. :apple:

I use Apple 12w charger all the time, but maybe the new Ultra/Fast charging has something to do with it...the technology which charges 70% in 10 minutes or so...

Perhaps I am wrong, but tone of your post(s), and the closure of your last, indicate to me that you're interested in an argument, more than a logical discussion.

However, in the spirit of the forum, I will lay out my thought process.

Batteries store energy, it can be discharged in a contorted method, or in a volitile method. Despite having fuses or internal breakers on logic boards, there are still plenty of methods to short the contacts, or, damage the thin membranes separating the cells. The same human intelligence that is involved in creating these devices, can also be applied to getting them to fail. In the industry, such practice can be used to trigger a warranty replacement, or in more extreme cases, insurance fraud. It wouldn't be that difficult to disassemble a replacement note 7, and trigger some type of cascade failure within the battery cells. I have witnessed a few of these methods in the form of tests in lab environments. Those were used to outline some of these methods for investigators to learn, and, brainstorm on better methods for discovering them.

Do I feel that every fire fits this criteria, absolutely not! And despite my mod status here, I tend to avoid judging people in life. That said, I do, sometimes have personal suspicions and the story behind this note 7 fire is off putting to me for some reason.

Perhaps this case is truly is due to bad manufacturing, or other accidental factors. Perhaps my suspicions are wrong, but, like you, I am entitled to my opinion on the subject, and I ask that you respect that, like I do yours.

I do respect your opinion & did not mean to intimate otherwise...
I even can agree with you in SOME instances. For example: when I read a report that one lady that called the fire department because her Samsung phone lit on fire on her nightstand actually called them again a week later for another fire starting from that same outlet, I immediately judged that the outlet was the issue, NOT the phone, & it seemed like the woman was a bit attention hungry.
However, certainly you must agree that it would be highly, highly, highly unlikely that anyone could use of the methods you mentioned of faking a battery issue, & time it so that it would go off while they're on a plane, to get attention- yet before it took off so they don't end up being the murderer of several hundred people.
C'mon... you simply MUST admit that is a hard sell!!! What if their calculations were off by a tiny fraction??
Also, nobody would put a phone they KNEW was going to explode in their pocket.... at the very least he would've made a big show about putting in in his carry on, while announcing what he was doing, if he was attention seeking.
Your scenario is nonsensical for the airplane incident, & I'm afraid that I'm going to have stand by that.

Next time Samsung issues a new device people will wait for at least a month to buy one just in case...

I think all this fake just a propaganda. 4 Days ago..MAN LEFT TOOTHLESS AFTER EXPLOSION OF HIS SAMSUNG ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH (News). Now, "Galaxy Note 7 replacement phone reportedly catches fire on the plane"...It's an American FASCISTS drama. Another Samsung Haters propaganda. "Oh no don't buy Samsung products ". The Apple fanboys and Americans are dangerous fascists (Some). In fact, This is an American FASCIST Business drama. What a shame!

The fascist US Media campaign against Samsung. There are plenty of reports recently about iPhone 6 and 7 explosions as well. But they are no news about that. American fascist media are very good at masking Apple problems. The American media (fascist U.S. media) are shameless American resellers. They're jealous of Samsung because Samsung is only the brand, that can **** apple. iPhones(6) are exploding but it's sales are continuing. Because Apple is the biggest money sucking company in the world. Apple is just a wicked, selfish, and evil company. Samsung is an honest company (Galaxy Note 7 recall).

Wait and see...truth

Honestly, you either work for Samsung or you want too. Couple of questions though. If Americans and Apple Fanboys are Fascists, why do you hang out on a Apple/American website acting like a white knight for Samsung? Wouldn't you prefer to hang out on a non fascists website with like minded people? Help me understand this illogical behavior.

I have flown on 4 Southwest flights since this issue has come up. On all 4 they state that anyone owning these phones must have them completely off once you board. Not sure why ppl have lost the ability to listen and follow instructions. Unless it catches fire even while off.

The sooner every manufacturer starts using the new LI Ion technology that prevents runaway explosive discharge shorts the better. All current devices with current LI Ion batteries are ticking time bombs. I'm actually surprised there have as few incidents over the years as have been reported.

There have been a number of various advances at the university R & D centers that need to be adopted into full blown manufacturing, regardless of the tooling up expense. You will shortly see a hyper over reaction by the FAA regarding all LI Ion powered devices. In worst case scenario these devices will not be allowed on board on or off. Imagine traveling without your phone, track pad or laptop.

Reports that ISIS cell has infiltrated Samsung manufacturing plant. Could this perhaps be the root cause for the Note 7 fires?
Didn't know anything about this prior. Thanks for sharing.

I think you may have meant that people have short attention spans. Human memory can last for quite a while, especially for those impacted by this issue. To think otherwise is absurd and ignorant.

I don't think this issue will kill Samsung as a company, but it certainly won't help their stock price.
Ok, I’ll accept that.
