Lol, tumble DRYERS are designed to function at very high heat, it's sort of what they do....phones on the other hand, not so much. Terrible comparison.
Neither are designed to burn houses down. They both have electrical components in and just as this phone shows even very small amounts can cause fires. You obviously understand nothing about batteries or electricity.

You can shake your head until your sheep-horns fall off.
There is no way this Green character could have bought a new iPhone 7 at the Louisville airport.
And how useful would it be? All his contacts are on Google.
No, this despicable character did this to make a statement (the iPhone 7 purchase) and to cash-in (the rigged Note 7).
I would hope this gets investigated by a neutral, international court.
Alas...

PS. Again, learn the definition of explosion. Maybe siri can tell you to go look at wikipedia.

Sarcasm?

If not:

It looks like the iPhone has had a few incidents over the years too. I hadn't heard of these before.

Not to poke holes in your theory but it's incredibly easy to import contacts from google onto your iPhone. I do exactly that because I use both devices. I find using google for contacts to be superior. I can go to any platform I choose incredibly easily and have also done so on windows phone (which I no longer use).

I have flown on 4 Southwest flights since this issue has come up. On all 4 they state that anyone owning these phones must have them completely off once you board. Not sure why ppl have lost the ability to listen and follow instructions. Unless it catches fire even while off.
My flight on September 22nd with Southwest required no such actions. This was after Delta took the lead and required ALL Samsung devices be turned off and not plugged in.

It was very soon after the 22nd that Southwest started the recommended actions.

Can't Facebook also import contacts?

Unfortunately washing machines are prone to catching fire as well... even after being recalled as it happens.

Reading the article would help!

If this is not an isolated case, Samsung really messed up here. If hey rushed out a fix that did not remedy the issue, this could be the end of the note 7 and massive reputation hit for Samsung .

I don't work with facebook contacts, but I don't doubt it. I was just responding to the implication that immediately using an iPhone is impossible due to contacts having been in google.

Well, that's still of no consequence to the Brits. They will only get angry once they witness exploding Samsung-made Tardises!

Well that depends on who designed them. If they were made by Samsung then both are designed to burn houses down. I know plenty about batteries and electricity, thanks for the presumption though, it gave me a good laugh. Maybe it is you who doesn't understand the difference between a phone and a dryer.

Actually it's Apple, you can choose between my iPhone 7 or iPad Pro or iPod Touch or iPod Nano or MacBook Pro to chose the name from, or you can accept some folks buy Apple devices without selling their soles and family and entire street to them! And we are actually capable of having different opinions where we don't automatically slam competing devices just because I must because that's apparently what Apple owners do...

So what you're saying nobody can criticise samsung until somebody dies? Ok, that may not be that far away. You really live in a delusional bubble don't you. I pity you pal.

Erm, no! It's ONE device with the problem and Apple devices have blown up on planes before, has that ruined their reputation too?

Apple have even managed to burn houses down:

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Dang...ns-Down-House-Insurer-Sues-Apple-169890.shtml

And if you leave an iPhone charging on a bed it will also catch fire, like this case where the person died as a result:

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/u...g-his-iphone-charging-overnight-a6853601.html

I found all those cases in 2 mins of googling so please stop with the overblown hyperbole eh? Because by your logic Apple should have gone bust years ago...

There is stories on the internet about any phone model of any company catching fire somewhere, which are isolated incidents and it is possible to happen. What we have here is a serious known issue with a particular model from Samsung, which even Samsung have acknowledged the issue, and to make things even worse they have replaced the hazard model with another hazard one. So is not the same.

I think, at this point, the use of Note 7 should not be allowed in a public.
[doublepost=1475736594][/doublepost]
Look at Antennagate or Bendgate. Many stories of iPhone 6's bending. But the majority including myself, have had no problems what so ever. The Apple brand is as strong as ever.

I thin is a bit different. If I bought a phone knowing there are tiny slim chances of it bending or loosing signal I will say...heck, why not. But if I know there is a tiny tiny possibility the phone will set my home on fire I will just say, **** that. No f chance.

Note 7 probably the best Android phone out there if there are no battery problems. The design is just top notch, just the performance cannot catch up to iPhone speed.

Anyway, I still highly recommend Note 7 to my friends that want to buy a Phone. Buying a phone without headphone jack is just not reasonable (although I believe we all will live by it, like those CD/DVDs).

I've flown a lot in the last few weeks and a few airlines have asked anyone with a note to make themselves known, how utterly embarrassing. There were definitely some sniggers from the passengers that knew why.

I really wonder if this won't end in Samsung just pulling the plug, cutting their losses, and pushing the S7 Edge. What are they going to say, "Ok THIS TIME it won't explode. Promise. Pinky swear"?

Awesome comment

Both are designed to burn houses down. For those that have been on the wrong end of a fire there is no difference. Your posting history has just turned into a train wreck. Goodbye.

I'd agree, in fact they probably need to rebrand the S7 to something without the lucky number 7 in it.

When you get on a plane and the announcement specifically warns you against using a Galaxy Note 7 (not joking - I took a flight a couple of weeks ago and they made a big song and dance of this) then I think you have to accept that the brand is dead. This announcement of a "fixed" Note 7 self-immolating - even if it turns out to be an insignificant fluke - is the nail in the coffin: there may be no such thing as bad publicity but, if there was, that would be it.

Pity, because it sounded like a really decent phone - I have a Note 2 still going strong, but was vaguely tempted by an upgrade... but not now.

Still... I hope Apple realise how lucky they were that this happened just when they'd made their own mammoth PR cock-up with the iPhone 7 (whatever the merits of dropping an "obsolete" connector, it shouldn't become the "headline feature" of the product...)

I was on a flight from the USA recently to the UK and they specifically mentioned that Samsung Note 7 users could not turn on their phones at all due to the fire risk. At the time I thought, as if using Samsung phones wasn't embarrassing enough.

But hey, it doesn't bend, it hasn't got antenna lines and it doesn't scratch easily. It might just explode, they should just stick a pin in the headphone socket and call it the samsung grenade.

Those are individual cases though, as people on have said that doesn't count just like with the story's of Apple devices blowing up, apparently.
[doublepost=1475734451][/doublepost]

To what?

These aren't individual unrelated cases.
It's a massive recall and now the safe note 7s are exploding. The CSPCA chief called it. Design flaw.

I call bs on you owning an iPhone 7.

The joke's on you!
Guru Pitka: I once read on a bathroom stall, the joke is in your hand ;)

Samsung new motto should be:
"Drop it like it's hot"
The song would fit nicely in a commercial...
"drop it like it's hot
drop it like it's hot
drop it like it's hot"
