I'm done. I decided to send my Note 7 back. Packed it up to take to AT&T shortly once they open. Sadly I only have a Microsoft Lumnia 640 go phone I can use for the time being...which sucks!
Hopefully AT&T still accepting it. They were debating yesterday about not taking them back anymore. Would have to deal with Samsung directly. Not sure how that works as even Samsung cannot ship phones back to Korea. Had to request hazardous cargo permission and only by boat.

I am done.Sorry Samsung but if that text message where you basically told the customer to **** off along with these latest incidents are real that recall was pointless and just drama.I cant defend the indefensible and I am a Samsung fan here.I am replacing my household appliances with LG and Sony next

Note I am not saying Apple is a good company either.Touch Disease hasnt and wont ever be fixed thanks to Apple greed

Remind me again how the inconvenience of one equates to the threatening nature of another? "Shift of blame" fallacy?

I am also within my 14 day return period still as well. So they have to take it back.

He means they're both production or design problems that should be acknowledged and addressed.

Pretending that Apple is somehow different because SOME of their failures were lucky enough not to cause property damage, is a fallacy as well. Especially because of the OTHER millions of hazardous products that Apple has sold in the past and had to recall or pay for... and sometimes continued to sell for years without acknowledging there was a problem.

Either condemn both companies, as he did, or neither.

The thread is about Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fires. If apple is brought into it as a correlation to support production problems, let's bring in Toyota, GM, and all other products that have had cpsc recalls as they all should be condemned. https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/ I know there is some hyperbole in there, but seems like bringing in apple as if it's the same thing is just more hyperbole.

Both are different types of evil.Apple did it on purpose to make the iPhones obsolete. Not life threatening but millions of iPhone 6 in the wild will just shut down with their data wiped forever.Thats a depressing thought. As far as Samsung goes,it seems even they themselves dont know whats going on which is worse.I dont think the batteries were the problem here at all as the recall didnt fix things but nevertheless they tried to get a head start on the iPhone like any other manufacturer except they made a mistake there

Regardless both companies dont give a **** about their loyal fans or customers. Now of the next Pixel or LG or Sony turns out enticing I may make it my partner brand next to Apple in my household

If its proved they did it on purpose, why not? This whole thing has been done by companies suo motu

Ahhhh grasshopper you know not from where you speak. Your sense of entitlement belies real world experience. Companies have been known to change policies on the spot and at a whim. A mere customer complaining may not be all that persuasive, especially with exploding phones. Remember game of hot potato?

With that said, get it back ASAP before they decide not to take them any more. Best of luck, but hurry. Get your money back, then you have time to decide what to get next.

I don't disagree with you in general.

However, I didn't think he was excusing Samsung. He was giving examples of why he doesn't trust either company, for the same basic reason: greed.

Although the part about replacing his appliances over this, does seem pretty hyperbolic.

The word "greed" is hyperbolic in and of itself. Everything else being equal more money is better than less money.

That's a logically fallacious argument with a dash of hyperbole thrown in as a finisher. Evil corporations, planned obsolescence and the like. And I disagree companies do care about their customers, not every customer though is a satisfied o e.

Ahhh yes greed........sometimes otherwise referred to as free enterprise or right of companies to make a profit for shareholders. As with everything, when carried to extremes bad things usually result. Where would we be without some of that hated government regulation and consumer rights nonsense? o_O

I dont think you realise the gravity of what I am stating.ALL iPhone 6 in the wild WILL fail automatically because of Touch Disease. There was even a blog article made on how this was made to upsell the latest iPhones. So tell me.Does trying to skimp on costs in such a way that the device is rendered inoperable after a few years is not a profit based on greed?

Anyho this is not on topic and as far as I am concerned, unless Samsung comes out with an explanation about the text message,I am NOT buying any further products from them

What is the evidence for "touch disease" being implemented on purpose?

And wow, there was even a blog archive made on that?? EVEN a blog article? That is I N S A N E!!!!

The gravity of what? An inconvenience? Can you "prove" anything about skimping on costs? Or just want to get your say in and then say the entire conversation is off-topic?

The entire thing, is not shaping up too well for Samsung.

I dont remember the specifics of that article. But it was stated there that there was some sort of metal bracket which existed on the iPhone 5S,which they later removed on the 6 and was reintroduced on the 6S.The fact that they reintroduced it in the 6s implies Apple already knew about Touch Disease before the public was even aware of it

So there was some article, somewhere, that is the fact-based evidence needed to indict apple (aka hyperbole) on purposefully causing some issues to force planned obsolescence. What thread is this again?

Ask the various authors on the web.You dont believe them.I do.A simple Google search revealed tons of em

"Apple’s decision to not use a metal shield and underfill on the iPhone 6 logic board is listed as the reason why Touch IC Disease affects these devices."

" Independent repair experts I’ve spoken to say that they’ve seen the issue in iPhone 6 Pluses since soon after launch, but are seeing a major surge in the number of phones that have the issue as the warranties on the iPhone 6 expire and as the Touch IC connectors wear out with age."

"The main issue with the 6 plus is that Apple went cheap and took out the protective underfill and metal bracket that protected the IC so they could reduce component costs."

http://www.extremetech.com/mobile/2...uld-really-prefer-you-just-bought-an-iphone-7

"
Apple still ignoring ‘touch disease,’ would really prefer you just bought an iPhone 7"

"For now, Apple would prefer you buy an iPhone 7 with less utility than its predecessor — except you can’t buy an iPhone 7 Plus in-person, since it didn’t stock enough of them. It’s enough to seriously make me personally consider moving to a different device the next time I upgrade. Any company with more than $200 billion in cash reserves can afford to fix some iPhones it broke by removing a critical component in a bid to save 10 micrograms and four cents off the final design"

http://motherboard.vice.com/read/iphone-6-plus-touch-disease-touch-ic-engineering-flaw

"It kind of went from ‘Hey we’re seeing a lot of these’ to ‘Hey, we’re seeing nothing but these,” she said. “I don’t have the data to need to say how prevalent this is across all phones, but we’re seeing this repair more than any other repair. We used to see it only with phones that got dropped, because that seems to exacerbate the problem. But now we’re seeing phones that have been Otterboxed from the beginning starting to get them.”

Well you seem to have your authoritative sources. I believe apple here. Of course, results from a google search are the last authoritative word. Shut the thread down, everyone go home.:):apple:

As far as the text from Samsung, being consistent, on the surface it doesn't look well, but additional information is in order regarding this to even find out if this is true. How someone could make a mistake like that is beyond me, if it even is a "mistake".

You believe the company who caused the flaw over those who actually repair the flaw. You really have trustworthy sources :0

Regardless of this text they actually sat on this case for 5 days and didnt tell anyone. This happened before the southwest case where they gave a textbook reply of "We are investigating".This tells me everything I need to know

Just got back from AT&T and had ZERO issues. The lady was nice and knew about the issues of the replacements. She actually entered it all in the system and thought she had to get a code for the no restocking fee like she had to do for the last two days and this morning it automatically did it as it knew what phone. So AT&T did something over night to program the system for returns. My account is already reset and taxes were reimbursed to my checking account.

Thank goodness. Did they give you a straight up refund or did you have to pick another phone on the spot? I just want my money back. My husband wants to hang onto his Note 7 until he hears what the CPSC has to say. I would wait, too, except I think my Note7 is heating up when it shouldn't.

If I can get a straight up refund I think I'll take it and stick the sim for this new line into my 6SPlus.
