My guess and no ones mentioned it -

Adobe Flash.

The more i have the iphone the more i actually don't want flash ...

Look at Firefox and Google Chrome ... both have issues with flash (i find it crashes my firefox regularly) ... many sites rely so much on flash making them larger to load and full of unnecessary glitz. it also gets updated so apple will continually have to reengineer it for newer versions and therefore some sites might not work on an iphone with flash anyway.

I do prefer sites that just rely on javascript (ajax etc) - they have just as much functionality and generally are cleaner and tidier sites.
Ok so we're missing some video sites and a few other things but i for one am not missing flash one little bit.

All I want is an OS that has the quality of 1.1.4

I hope the secret features are the removal of all the garbage that has been introduced since 1.1.4, that have crippled the speed, reliability and quality, so I can actually use my phone as a phone.

Please Apple just fix what you've got and stop adding new features.

+1

For a long time, I had a very stable device. Safari only crashed once a month, and the unit never failed to immediately lock onto my home WiFi.

Since the updates, Safari knocks itself out almost every day, and I have to fiddle around every few hours to keep WiFi going.

A Flash movie player would be great. I hate having to go back to my laptop to see the latest gizmo news sites.

its about time for a new HUGE feature..i think that would be amazing

I really am fine with the iPhone as it is just I hope the following things are fixed.

-SMS Keyboard Lag! This is a PITA, and I am tired of having to quit out of the application, and reopen it multiple times just to be able to type out a message to a buddy.
-Safari crashes when visiting certain sites. Though it is not as often, it would be nice to not have to lose my spot when browsing the web.
-Application crashes, I guess this wouldn't be really Apple's fault, but rather the developer of the application.
-VOICE COMMAND, When driving, it would be nice to tap on my bluetooth headset's voice command button, shout a name out, and have my iPhone dial it. I guess not really that important to me, as I shouldn't be talking when driving anyway.

I really don't care about talking GPS as my car already has a GPS built in, and my first generation iPhone doesn't support it anyway. MMS and copy & paste would be nice, but I also don't care for these features as I have learned to live without them.

As for non-hardware improvements, I hope Apple gets that Push notification service up and running, so I can actually receive Instant messages on the AIM Application I got from the Apps store, as designed!

1. Horizontal SMS keyboard.

2. Full Bluetooth stack.

3. Wi-Fi music streaming from iTunes to iPod App.

4. Copy/Paste functionality.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G (16GB, 2.0.2 JB'd): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5C1 Safari/525.20)

I predict more bugs.

Sadly, given Apple's recent history, I'm inclined to agree. :(

Background Apps
Software that doesn't crash
MMS
Bluetooth that allows you to connect to computer/other mobile devices
Copy/Paste
Flash
Software that doesn't crash
Video recording
Camera zoom
Native iChat
iDisk Access
Software that doesn't make the phone crash so I don't have to do any more restores

While I would love all of these and maybe some other new "but wait, there's more" features, I'd really like them to improve the software stability instead of distracting us with something new and flashy that isn't really worth it because you have to restore the iPhone for 3 hours every time you try to use it.

Just my thinking. :D

Anyone who is expecting a "secret feature" with 2.1, that may or may not be released tuesday, is most likely in for a major disappointment.

FINALLY! Somebody who agrees with me on that!

Anyway, I think that it'll be:

* Copy/Paste (if lucky. It SHOULD automatically work in 3rd party apps, so there wouldn't need to be a reason for it to be in the SDK.)
* Turn-by-turn GPS Navigation
* Better/adjustable photo quality in the photo app.

Now onto my "I-wish-it-would-but-probably-never-will" list.

WiFi/Bluetooth Syncing. NO MORE USB!
Video Recording
Tricorder (like on Star Trek. Dock add-on sold separately w/scanner.)
Phaser (am I going too far out? :p) Long live the trekkies. ;)

I hope, more than anything, that apple releases thier own tip calculator.

but seriously mms would be super

It's funny you should say that because I was hoping for Apple to release a Sudoku, Magic 8 Ball and Flashlight App.

Steve Jobs calls Tom Tom guy to the stage to introduce TomTom app for Iphone and Ipod touch (new one with gps)....

$100 for the app, and $9.99/month for the updates and usage?....

I predict a lot of whining on what is NOT going to be in 2.1. Remember it took them a year to add many things and they still didn't do copy/paste, MMS, stereo bluetooth, etc. Why would they add all of that in just 2 months if they didn't do it over an entire year? I'll take 2.1 with a little more stability, otherwise, I''m content with what I've got

Yeah, I predict alot of disappointed people running around like headless chickens on tuesday...
