Very nice. Hope you like them

My store only got 10. The people infront were nice and only got one but the younger couple on front of me bought 4 total as soon as they saw how many were available. Scalpers piss me off and I called them out on it. But anyway I got one and the guy behind me who waited since 630 got one. He was too nice to get in line where he was suppose to be so I made sure he got a pair before I did. So technically I got the last pair but whatever.

Anyway super excited to get these out of the box and use them when I get to work

It's called a transition period, and they're never perfect. There were four choices and after analyzing the market a decision was made so the greatest number of people could charge their AirPods.

Option 1: Include a USB A cable for the billions of people who have a USB A charger of some kind, i.e. a pre 2016 Mac or PC, or any other USB A wall charger (Apple or any other manufacturer). Result on MR: Wah... along with stomping of feet, and tiny whines about Apple not serving their (relatively) small number people that have a 2016 MBP who now have to buy a cable or $4 adapter. Apple is doomed, TC should be canned, buh-blah, buh-blah, buh-blah.

Option 2: Include a USB C cable for the (relatively) small number of lucky people that have a 2016 MBP. Result on MR: Wah... along with stomping of feet, and tiny whines about there being a few billion people who only have devices with USB A charging capability (computers and USB A wall chargers) who now have to buy a cable or $4 adapter. Apple is doomed, TC should be canned, buh-blah, buh-blah, buh-blah.

Option 3: Include both USB A and USB C cables. Well, that's dumb as rocks and a load on the e-waste situation. Still, because of that, on MR there will be: Wah... along with stomping of feet, and tiny whines about Apple being wasteful and not sensitive to the environment. Apple is doomed, TC should be canned, buh-blah, buh-blah, buh-blah.

Option 4: Include no cables; and even reduce the price. Result on MR: Wah... along with stomping of feet, and tiny whines about Apple being cheap and greedy and not caring about their customers because people now have to use the a USB A to lightning cable they probably have laying around, or, buy a cable. Apple is doomed, TC should be canned, buh-blah, buh-blah, buh-blah.
Classy post. Doesn't matter which direction Apple takes. We'll get the same negativity.

I'm sorry but this is absurd by Apple's logic regarding the new MBP move to exclusive USB-C. If this "common sense" approach was valid they would have left at least one or two USB-A ports around (as you likely have a million USB-A peripherals lying around). At the very least I'd say Apple doesn't have a unified vision of hardware integration across lines.

This has been explained many times. If you can't understand the next step you must be myopic.

If you have a new Mbp and an iPhone you have an adapter already. If you don't you have a wall charger to use. If it ships with USB-C it never ends. Try to buy yourself a time machine that takes you 6 months into the future.
If you buy them for that price not also expecting better sound quality than the ones they give you for free then you've more money than sense.

Yet, could probably express your earnings in fractions compared to his. Again you have an adapter for your iPhone and 2016 MBP or you have the wall plug. It simply doesn't matter. One day you can thank early adopters for making this easier for you.

Got mine. super impressed. They sound noticeably better then the wired ones you get with the phone. The wireless connection is so good I can connect them to my MacBook Pro in my bedroom upstairs and go to loo at the other side of the house downstairs. Obviously I've tested the important stuff.

Very little lag, that was my one concern. I notice it ever so slightly in Final Cut but nothing I couldn't get used to. Didn't notice any lag at all on my phone with Mario Run ect. I now have every current Apple product, and I think the AirPods are most magical.

Decided to go out and try the local Apple Store this morning. Arrived right after 9 AM with just 6 people in a "line" (not a lot of people or very busy)...the store had opened a few minutes prior. They sold the last one to the person 2 in front of me. Apple should have a line for people who wait in the store for the next shipment, but now I get to go back and start over. Yay.

I think you "Think" to much and clearly self imposed something about me you're not in a position of authority to do so. I would rather have read a user review based on Their experience. Mainly being their more open minded and not worried about page views or click bait articles re-hashing the same thing said on every article. And yes, I have read ALL the tech site reviews long before the Airpods released.

I'm skeptical and open minded in the same respect, that said I appreciate third party reviews over paid tech sites. They offer more in terms of honesty and can be brutal. Good or bad, I'm open to it.
I agree with your sentiment but I have to disagree with the idea that an owner of a product is open-minded. I rarely trust owner reviews for the reason that I believe them to be fairly biased. As someone who paid money for the product, they tend to want them to be good, to justify the purchase in their mind, at a subconscious level. It's why I prefer non-owner reviews. All my opinion, of course.

EarPods aren't free. They retail for $30. Or you pay for them as part of the price of a new iPhone.

If you find AirPods too expensive, then I'm sorry about your financial situation.

Anyway looking forward to getting mine in the mail today. Will report back on impressions.

I am EXTREMELY frustrated....
Went to the Apple store near my house in Arizona 2+ hours early and was 7th in line. They came out and said they only got 6 in.. Told me to try another store but wasn't able to tell me how many they got.

Went to another store and was 17th in line... They only got 7 units in.

Now I'm sitting at work and just want to break stuff

First of all you don't get earpods for free from Apple (or any other product for that matter)
Secondly, sound (although subjective) it is slightly better then what you get on earpods. You would be mad if you would expect the quality you get with a few hundreds of dollars massive headphones.

Went to Boston, Boylston Street store on a whim this morning. Got there half an hour before opening and was somewhere around #30 in line. Got two pairs and was out the door in ten minutes, but the people coming in as I was leaving were being told the store was sold out.

No cables, auto switching between devices, by all accounts better sound quality than EarPods. And I happen to like the sound of my EarPods already, anyway. Sorry, I'm not an enlightened guru of audio, but, here's a tip, very few people care about sound quality as much as you do. Let them buy the things they want, and there's not really a need to bash them for it. :) have a nice, grumpy day, grumpy pants in chief.

In a corner of my life I am a stinky audiophile, but please, let's get real. Listening to mp3 files...while mobile...with earbuds...is just never going to be an appropriate scenario for getting snooty (much less snippy) about audio quality. There are much more realistic, important considerations, and it looks like the AirPods deliver on those (if you don't mind the price point!).

User reviews tend to be more personal. Tech sites use this condescending tone of why they support or don't support the product, and sometimes are to drawn out. Open minded also means being able to effectively listen to all sides the review. Good or bad.

Yay! Got my AirPods at the Southcenter, Seattle store this morning. They had about 20 sets of them. I cut it close being 11th in line.

UPS must be having an off day tracking. Missed a few scans and countries along the way, LOL

MISSISSAUGA, CA 12/19/2016 11:45 Delivered

Concord, ON, Canada 12/18/2016 16:58 Origin Scan

Apparently FedEx is going to surprise me, they put them on the vehicle to deliver today and I saw the express truck outside. I hope I get them soon

That's the downside to Apple Stores. Some stores have more stock than others. It really depends on the overall store and it's populated area. For example, The Grand Street station Store in New York will have more stock than say Knoxville Store. Another forum reported one store in New York had 20 Plus units available. I didn't want to risk not getting a set standing in line at my Apple Store, which is why I am fine waiting for my Airpods to arrive in a week.

It's just a pair of earphones that nobody actually needs. I'd be frustrated too, but don't let it spoil your day. :)

Sitting around a table at a Los Angeles Apple Store with about 14 other people, waiting for them to get their shipment. I have been here since 7:30am...I can't believe I am doing this! I have never actually waited for an Apple product in store before, because I usually buy everything online. Other stores in the area had them at store open this morning. I know if I leave, they will get them shortly after...
