Guess what everyone?

Still looks like an iPhone!

Until I see some radical departures of utter genius like svelte protective bumper corners cleanly integrated into the piece of jewelry, I mean, into the iPhone, who cares about a notch, pill, or no notch.

I think Apple will create the best hole ever. An awesome hole, never have you seen such a hole before and it will totally change the way we use our iPhones.

My guess is that if the rumors of the iPhone 14 (non pro) sticking with A15 are true (not sure that I believe them, but it could be part of the long term plan to make the Pros even more appealing), it will get the fully enabled A15 from the 13 Pro (the A15 in the 13 has a disabled graphics core), 6 GB of RAM, and perhaps the rumor of the iPhone 14 getting a 90 Hz screen is also true.
I agree that it makes complete sense for Apple to further differentiate Pro models from non-Pro’s using different chipsets. It’s actually been odd the past couple of years having their lower priced iPhones offering many of the same performance parameters as Pro models. This kind of shift is really just following what they’re doing on the laptop/desktop side of the business. I think it also is suggestive that when a new iPad Pro gets released, it’s going to have either an M2 or some plus version of M1 chip, since the new iPad Air comes with the M1 chip.

Front: the pill and hole I prefer over the current notch.
Back: the three tier square camera bump still looks hideous.

Unless Apple makes use of this extra screen by adding more status bar elements this is worse than the notch, having the screen wrap around something like that will look worse for video content and just in general, what’s worse is I don’t doubt Apple won’t make use of it since they didn’t with the reduced notch on the 13.

do they even have a design team anymore?
They have consistently put out absolute terrible product designs over and over
Apple takes the cake for my most hated company ever

Not too happy about the prospect of this. I'm looking to upgrade from my XS Max this year, but I can't stand phones with one holepunch, let alone two.

No problem with the pill, no problem with the notch, but I’m genuinely disappointed that the cameras seemingly won’t be flush.

I totally agree that things have changed. But correct me if I’m wrong… it seems Apple is releasing two iPhones with updated chips and two iPhones without them. The iPhones with updated chips will have a pill shape camera cut out while the iPhones without updated chips will keep the notch.

If I had an iPhone 13 and was looking to upgrade this year… would I be interested in buying an iPhone 14 that will have the same chip and look relatively the same as my iPhone 13? Or will I be more interested in buying the iPhone 14 Pro or Pro Max?

My point is… Apple appears to really be focused on two iPhones this fall and if that’s the case just release those two iPhones. And I tell you this much… they will heavily promote 14 Pro models not the regular 14.

I really REALLY hope this is a ridiculous rumour about different chips in the lineup. I’d rather iOS gets a slight fork of a Pro for much higher end feature set that uses the Ax chip more intensely, maybe a good reason to have more RAM in the Pro models using a boost in iOS while the regular models do not.

This move, if true, is worse than making the mini, then gutting the mini for 2yrs and still keeping the home button + TouchID when all these last few years Apple is promoting security for FaceID. It’s as if 2 people are running the show at Apple. If they’re not careful this could end up like Android‘s state of CPU and wretched OS lack of support every year. Uggh.
