That camera is getting ridiculously big. It's at the point that its so big it probably would look better centered or the bump go all the way across the back.

Same here. I'll never understand why people make such a big deal about this. Never once when I've used my notched iPhones have I even given it a passing thought or noticed it. I just, you know, use my phone.

I’d much prefer a notch to having that non symmetrical setup, just make a smaller notch that has the camera and FaceID sensors and speaker for a cleaner look, if this ends up being real that is.

Nothing is centered! This is driving me nuts. The pill cutout itself is not centered as obviously the round cutout isn’t either. But then - if you combine both cutouts as one, this combined cutout isn’t centered either… it’s literally annoying the hell out of me…

What if the front camera is under display? The FaceID sensor is the one that's centered and we know it being under the display isn't coming anytime soon.

Frankly, I prefer the notch over this. The area of the screen above the cutout is unusable anyway. Couldn't they turn it into an even smaller notch? Kinda feels like form over function...

India-based tech blog 91Mobiles posted a series of renders on Wednesday that it claims are based on leaked factory CAD images of Apple's upcoming iPhone 14 Pro.

Apple is widely expected to remove the notch on the Pro models in the iPhone 14 series, and the images offer an idea of how Apple's flagship device will look with hole-punch and pill-shaped cutouts near the top of the display.

Converging rumors and leaks have indicated that in the absence of a notch, a hole will be used for the Face ID dot projector, while the pill-shaped cutout will supposedly house the front camera and Face ID infrared camera. The CAD images show that the speaker grille will remain embedded in the top bezel.

Contrary to one rumor, the rear of the device looks largely unchanged from the iPhone 13 Pro, with the triple-lens array housed in a camera bump that protrudes from the chassis. In September, YouTube leaker Jon Prosser claimed the iPhone 14 will have a thicker chassis allowing for no camera bump, with the lenses, LED flash, and LiDAR Scanner sitting flush with the rear glass, but that is not what is shown here.

Prosser's sources also claimed that the new models will have round volume buttons and redesigned speaker and microphone grilles, but again, these latest CAD renders only show the same oblong buttons and grilles that iPhone users will already be familiar with.

Apple is expected to release four iPhone 14 series models this year, consisting of two 6.1-inch and two 6.7-inch sizes, thus dropping the "mini" variant that we saw in the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series. The hole-punch and pill-shaped cutouts are only expected to be featured on the highest-end ‌iPhone 14‌ variants, while the two lower-end ‌iPhone 14‌ models will continue to feature a notch.

It has also been claimed Apple will seek to differentiate Pro and non-Pro further this year, in that only the Pro models will get a new A16 Bionic processor, whereas the non-Pro models will feature the same A15 processor found in the iPhone 13 series.

The latter rumor is particularly intriguing, especially coming from reputable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The last time Apple re-used a previous-generation processor in a new flagship iPhone model, you have to go back to the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G, both of which used identical 412MHz ARM 11 chips. Heh, the bump is probably the one single thing that I wholeheartedly hate about my iPhone, even after all these years. Makes it all wiggly when placed screen up and I just can't... won't bring myself to put a cover on it.

It's technically more screen, but it remains to be seen whether the extra pixels are useful for anything. There doesn't seem to be enough room above the pill area to display any more info than versus a notched iPhone screen.

Ultra widescreen video might be able to take advantage of it, but you'd still have the same notch problem of part of the image being obscured by the openings.

Tbh a major change to the camera bump would've been the only incentive to upgrade my 13 Pro to a 14 Pro, so this is a good way to make me hang on to what is an AMAZING phone for 2+ years lol.

Apple just made the notch smaller and they tend to milk 2 years minimum out of each tech update... Maybe iPhone 15 we will see this

It's the "i-Notch". Every time I see it, I just think of the letter "i", and think of Apple's marketing. Or its a complete joke from Apple.

I rather just have a reverse black background bar display at the top.

If these are all true. Doesn’t that mean iPhone 14 is exactly the same as iPhone 13 down to CPU?

My guess is that if the rumors of the iPhone 14 (non pro) sticking with A15 are true (not sure that I believe them, but it could be part of the long term plan to make the Pros even more appealing), it will get the fully enabled A15 from the 13 Pro (the A15 in the 13 has a disabled graphics core), 6 GB of RAM, and perhaps the rumor of the iPhone 14 getting a 90 Hz screen is also true.
