Honest question, do you still feel that way about the notched iPhone? Would you rather the top of the phone have a black bar across the top and then push all that status info below it?

don't follow the ridiculousness... It a is MacBook Air. even if this cut sin SSDs performance are true. Is more than enough for a regular-purpose machine... There is no PC laptop in the same market space as the air that can do all the thing that the air can...

I agree. For the most part, I doubt your average non MR forum member would even notice any difference. Tech websites often make much ado about nothing and then the tech heads (many MR members) get fixated on that ado, even if it is meaningless, and end up making judgments that would (in most cases) have no real meaning tech spec wise in their daily use; and for what, a few ms of difference in time?

I would rather have the black bar at the top. I have used XS/11/13. Great phones don't care for the notch.
I'm afraid this model will get hefty inflation/weak euro check very soon, or no later than it gets any small upgrade in specs. I bet it will be easily 10-20% higher after that.
I've owned my MBP 14" since it came out and I don't ever recall hearing the fan ever.
The new Air is appealingly light and thin, though.

The notch doesn’t bother me but if I had the option I would prefer a rectangular screen without the cutout even though it would be smaller.

How do you know they can’t have a 1080p camera with a smaller bezel? Do you have the data sheet for the camera they use and data sheets for comparative devices?

Logically speaking though, there is an obvious reason no company has done it. At this present time, a 1080p webcam requires space. A thin bezel doesn't provide it unless you make the lid thicker perhaps but I doubt many want the lid to be thicker either.

I am using a 2013 MacBook Pro 13 Inch. Would that be a good replacement for After effects and Blender work? I kind of manage it on my 2013 MacBook, but it’s it very slow and the preview is getting almost impossible…
It’s the size. There’s a big difference between a 2.7lb notebook and a 3.5lb notebook.

How on earth is the M1 Air "more capable"?
(If you mean the SSD speed: if you care about that, you're likely upgrading it anyway.)
Deciding between the M1 Air and M2 Air is kind of tricky, really. The M2 gets you a newer SoC, sure, but it also gets you MagSafe, a better display, better camera, better sound system, and more color choices. All that for $200 seems like a fair deal. OTOH, you can save those $200 and the M1 Air will still be a pretty damn good computer.
As someone typing this on a 14-inch M1 Pro MBP: that's a product targeting a very different audience. It's heavier, bigger, and optimized towards workloads people who buy an Air don't care about. It's exactly the kind of laptop people in the market for an Air don't want.

I’m enjoying my m1 iMac 16gb 2tb model, it literally does everything I need, and I can play any game I want on any emulator. I can’t see any benefits to m2 m3 for me yet. I have m1 iPad m1 air and m1 iMac.

Reviews have shown the M2 to be a dud… it runs hot and throttles considerably, negating the minor speed advantage it has over the M1. The base model MBP M2 has shown to be far slower than even the M1 Air in some critical real world tests due to throttling and the now infamous SSD issue.
Once you bump up the M2 Air specs to 16/512, then you’re in 14” M1 MBP price territory which is being discounted. It’s a no brainer, stick with M1 until Apple moves to a more advanced 3nm process for the M2.

I’ve installed macOS through several different methods over the years.
DVDs, USB, creating a clone, recovery mode…
It all of those methods it’s never taken more than an hour, and on average barely takes a half hour.
And I’ve installed every version since 10.6, with the exception of 10.8.
They’ve all on average taken between 20 and 35 minutes to install.
If it’s taking your computer an entire half business day to simply install the operating system, that’s a problem with *your* machine or *your* USB.
Unfortunately some of the day to day with the M2 with 256gb has lag, noticeable delays and exports/rendering that take up to twice as long. With just a few apps open it appears to be a huge downgrade. The 500gb is better than the M1 though.
