Hahahaha, the negative reaction from so many of you is exactly what makes videos like this hilarious.

It's like that one video of the guy who waited forever to be first in line for the Nintendo Wii launch, then when he got it immediately went outside and smashed it in front of the rest of the line.

But real talk, I think if Apple designed a drop-proof or at least drop-resistant phone, that would be a HUGE selling point.

this is what's wrong with society/youth today nothing but attention wh*res

People who cannot contribute/impress people with who they are/what they have done can only gain attention by angering others/riling people up

These sorts of videos are emblematic of the disconnect too many self-entitled young rich people in the western world have. It’s not done in the name of research or investigation or consumer interest, it’s reality television. Whoring yourself out for money and a slice of fame.

The sad part though is we reward people like this instead of shunning them. I’m sure they will get the business they wanted from this little stunt.

Look at the gentleman in the green sweatshirt. He looks old enough to have grown up just after World War 2, when many people throughout the world, including the United States had to deal with rationing of goods & food. 60 years later someone who seems to have never dealt with adversity destroys a phone with a glib smile on his face, lapping up the incredulity of those in line.

I’m not one of these people who thinks we should be embarrassed about the good fortune we have to live in a part of the world where $200 can be spent on a phone instead of it being my monthly paycheck, but this is disgraceful.

Things will not get better in this country until behavior like this is driven out of society.

I need help...

Does anyone know which cases best protect the phone, as far as shock absorption and so on....

I'm buying my first iPhone this week (the 4S, of course) and I am always on the move. I'm very prone to dropping my cell phone and I don't want this new one to get hurt!

I'm a total klutz when it comes to dropping things (I've dropped my 3GS more times than I even want to think about) -- and I went with the Otterbox Defender for my 4S.

There's a lot of bulk to it, but everything I've read said that it's the best thing you can buy for having a phone that survives falls, drops, and bumps.

Though, that Rokform case looked pretty baller too -- I'd just worry about dropping the phone onto an uneven surface (like a street with lots of gravel on it) and something poking through the openings in the case.

A phone should survive a fall like that. It's ridiculous that it breaks so easily.
Really? Would expect an iPod (with a screen) or a compact camera dropped from this height on a stone/concrete surface to survive? And would expect anything with a large glass surface, ie, including non-iPhone smartphones with a glass screen to survive multiple falls like this?

I have dropped my iPhone 4 multiple times but always only on wood or rubber-covered surfaces and except for one fall just from hip height. It has a small dent from that chest height fall but otherwise it looks fine.

It's funny that so few people seem to grasp that this video is actually an ADVERTISEMENT for their business.

It has nothing to do with being a jackass, being an attention whore, "entitled" or any of these other ridiculous comments.

They are in the business of repairing iphones, so they didn't "break" it, they just have to replace the glass. hell, even if the phone was completely destroyed, it only cost them $600 bucks, and look at all the free publicity they got from it.

In less than 3 days they've gotten over 120,000 views of their video with their website splashed all across it for about $600 bucks (but probably far less). That is an amazing ROI for advertising targeted directly at their target market (iPhone owners).

For anyone who understands business, marketing, or advertising, what these guys do is absolute genius.

Of course they're trying to go viral for cheap advertising. Kind of misleading, though, as they're trying to get page views by pretending (at least in the title) that they're doing a scientific comparative drop test. I've dropped my current phone quite a few times, but surprisingly, I've never managed to drop the glass screen on concrete from above my head...

Obviously done as "marketing" if you want to even call it that. I could understand the drop tests for the iPhone 4 with the helicopter glass and what not, but the 4S is identical in design so pretty pointless this time around.

Watch this part of the original iPhone 4 production video! It shows how strong the glass should be!

From:
http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/retina-display.html

Advancements in the glass. And under it.

Made from the same materials used in helicopters and high-speed trains, the Retina display glass is chemically strengthened to be harder, more scratch resistant, and more durable than ever.

Looks like a quality management problem.

If my screen cracks I just sell on eBay. The last 2 iPhones that were cracked I got $350 each. They were iphone 3GS's. I dropped my iPhone 4 before but i had a bumper and it didn't phase it.:) The phone was in my lap and it dropped about 4 feet to the concrete.

These idiots are really stupid. Just say that it could break. i would not waste $500-$600 buying the phone or even wasting an upgrade. Just stupid business if it is even for their business.

Crazy idea: Take care of your stuff.

Yes because everyone who has ever dropped their phone did it deliberately. My friends iPhone 4 was on the edge of his bedside table. And someone rang him in the night, he grabbed for it and it fell 2 feet onto the floor and shattered.

I've dropped my iPhone 4 many times, and even yesterday my daughter threw my iPhone, and it hasn't broke yet. I do not use a case.

Yes I know it can break easy, if dropped just right....I am not concerned. I will replace broken parts myself.

It's an viral video advertisement for their iPhone repair service business. Do you whine when you see a commercial for laundry detergent on TV when they intentionally pour coffee on a white shirt? "OMG they ruined a perfectly good shirt!"

I would like to see a few of the irate people in this thread shed a tear for the poor shirts. When is it all going to end?!
