Didn't the Virgin Megastore on Robson (in Vancouver) just close down? That would make an amazing Apple Store. It would be huge and would have the perfect location.

Very good point - awesome store, awesome location! Hopefully Apple has its eye on that one!

We need an Apple Store in Montreal. The best place wouldn't be in Pointe-Claire like a previous post said before, but downtown. The market is there.

Montreal and Vancouver would definitely be the next logical places. Then..... Regina?  :D

It'd be cool to have an Apple store in Calgary. :)

The only downside is that the local guys wouldn't like it that much (there's already lots of Apple competition, too). We have two Mac-only stores, but a lot of major computer stores now have a Mac center (London Drugs, Compusmart, the University of Calgary Micro store, and so on).

Calgary is expiring an economic boom, however. There are a lot of people who are buying stuff like this -- I couldn't even order the new iMac from the stores here because they have way too many orders (hundreds). So, I got mine from the Apple store online, and it came pretty quick from China. Only problem I had was with the FedEx not being able to find my house, but they found it four other times in the past (new driver, I guess).

I got the new 17" iMac. Not one dead pixel, not one dent or warp -- everything is just perfect. It's much faster than my old 1Ghz powerbook. And yes, I'm keeping my powerbook because I use that when I travel around. But an iMac is a good home workstation. 17" is good for me; the 20" costs more and it's almost too big (I have small desk).

Besides working a boring day job as a grocery store cashier, I design and co-edit a small, local magazine. I also do photography, advertising (design), event planning, and the occasional website. :p It keeps me busy.

I use Adobe CS because can't afford CS2 yet; however, CS works great on my iMac, it just zooms along with InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

The Apple store better hurry if it wants to take advantage of Uncle Ralph's Bucks that everyone single Albertan gets for free. Yeah, every Albertan will get $400 from the Government in January, just because were the coolest. And we get our GST rebates, and that adds up to almost $400 a year, too. Fun, fun! Plus, the other taxes I get back at the end of the year from the Federal government. Muhahaha!

So, really, Ralphies Bucks and taxes back have already paid off half of my iMac, and the rest comes from saving. :D

Yeah, Calgary would probably be up there on the list too, after Vancouver, Montreal, and a couple others I can think of... That would definitely be nice and handy for me!

Yeah, I'm glad to hear you guys are getting that money, it's definitely a nice treat. Plus, it helps offset the higher cost of living you have there. I have many friends who moved to Edmonton/Calgary from Saskatchewan, and even with those types of subsidies, they're still paying a lot more in the long run for things like housing, car insurance, etc., so it's nice to see those higher costs offset a bit in this manner for ya.

So I say treat yourself and buy some Apple stuff with that extra dough! :)

I'm pretty sure the second Apple Store will be in Toronto too. That isn't me being biased, I just think that's what will happen. As it stands, Yorkdale is to far out of the city centre. Apple needs to shove a bigger store in Eaton Centre or somewhere in posh Yorkville area (some might say Queen West, but I wouldn't say so).

But, Vancouver & Montreal definitely need them; especially Montreal (Resellers keep opening and closing there). Apple will go where the population can support a store.

Yeah, makes sense - they may base it solely on population. Montreal and Vancouver would be great places of Apple Stores... :)

Yeah, it's REALLY expensive up here! Our rent and everything else just goes up and up, but no body is paying any more. So getting extra money is always a bonus, especially when you can spend it on Apple stuff. :D

Yeah, I know what you're saying, that's why I'm fortunate to be where I am. But hey, you're fortunate too - it could be worse, you could be in a place like Toronto where the cost of living is even higher! I know I'd need to be making about 25% more a year than I am right now in Toronto to just be equal with what I'm making right now, here in Regina. Throw in the extra commute times and all the higher costs, and for me, it just isn't worth it.

In Theory it would because montreal is the Multimedia city. B-mac just close last year for lack of sales. Compusmart and Microserv (both own by hartco) are the only one who resells apple product.

There is also Camelot, Futurshop and all of the 4 university computer stores sell Apple in Montreal, UQAM having the best price.

Having an Apple store would be nice for repairs and upgrades, but prices cant be any better than they are now.

Virgin now HMV

Just drove past the Virgin Megastore today in Downtown Vancouver today. It's now an HMV store.

Too bad, that would have made an amazing Apple Store.:(

There's also a Best Buy now in Montreal.

I know this is NOT Canada

While it's not Canadian news, the old "New Apple Stores" thread has for some reason been relegated to the archives. So here is the latest opening in the US. The Brea Mall store in the LA area will open on Nov. 12th. Here's hoping the next one is in Montreal. ;)

New Toronto Store!

While I posted this already in the New Apple Stores thread, I thought all our Canadian brothers and sisters deserved the double post.

Apple's "Search Jobs" web page has a new Toronto location. The new listing is for "Toronto - Eaton Centre," a site long conjectured to be the next Canadian Apple store. Well, it's official now! :D

Apple has made public its plans to open its first Canadian retail store, at the Yorkdale Shopping Center in Toronto, Ontario, with the grand opening scheduled for Saturday, May 21, 2005.The Yorkdale Apple Store has been a rumored retail location in previous MacRumors discussions. The opening in Canada will expand Apple's retail presence to its fourth country, after the U.S., Japan, and the U.K.

*cheers for Canada*

WOOOOHOOOO!!! Awesome find, that is a perfect location; all year round that place is packed!! I'd like to see that store offer something for special events (Caribanna, Canada Day, and though I'm reluctant to mention it GayPride Parade Day; theres also November 11th Rememberance Day, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, etc!)

There is one. Its in Carrefour Laval. Sure its not technically Montreal but its very close, just hop on the 15 and go up.

Is the UQAM store any cheaper than online Edu for Canada?

Do you have to go to UQAM to shop there?

I go to CEGEP, so I do get a legitimate discount.

I think Montreal is the place to go... it's just pretty much the trendiest city pretty much anywhere in North America (for real). And people there have money... two things that help Apple thrive...

Plus I was born in Montreal....

I hope vancouver gets one soon. There are quite a few resellers here, but most of them suck. It would be much more convenient to have an Apple Store when something goes wrong.

Anyone know of any updates for a Vancouver store? We really do need one out here... Ontario has 3, Montreal has 1... Now it's our turn... I know Holt Renfrew is moving to a new location... Maybe it could go there....

it's pathetic that this city doesn't have an Apple store. Vancouver is supposed to be hip and cool and catering to the movie industry to make cheap movies here. And we're supposed to be the spot to be for game design thanks to EA being here...ect. ect. ect.

it angers me....but a lot of things anger me about Vancouver, only because I love this city too much.....

Seriously. That would have been outstanding.

Thank GOD we got the giant HMV store.....
