The watch looks nice. But I’m still not moved to buy one...

Just don’t want tech on my wrist. My phone bothers me enough when it goes off throughout the day, the thought of adding yet another device to deliver notifications gives me a headache lol

I feel like I am less stressed about notifications now, after getting the Series 3 in spring. I can quickly glance at the watch and see if it's important, then ignore most of it. When I didn't have the watch, I would feel the taptic engine tap/hear the chime, take my phone out of the pocket, realize it wasn't important, then open Facebook, because you know, I already have the phone out of my pocket, so might as well... etc. etc. Much less usage of the phone now :)

But wouldn’t your watch going off with every notification be just as a distraction?
[doublepost=1537527113][/doublepost]

Trust me, if she’s the type to check FB every 10 minutes a watch isn’t probably going to help her. Just sayin.

It is a small distraction. But you can quickly read the message or incoming call and reply or ignore it without having to get your phone out unlock it and the reply. Much more effecient and convenient.

She is always forgetting her phone so i hope not needing a phone nearby will help. I hope the signal is good enough on the watch to make/receive calls, txts. im abit skeptical.

When receiving messages on my watch either in whatsapp groups or imessages i read it and most of the time its not important enough to reply so its handy not getting your phone out to read a reply from someone saying “ok bye”

May as well drop a pic of mine in here. Moved from Space Grey and loving the new colour

This is my old 42mm S2 on the left and new 44mm on the Right. There's really not that much difference in them size wise.

When you say it is a minor update - It has gone from being a 32 bit processor to 64 bit. That's a massive change before even starting on the rest.
Nice pic! Some of these make the 44mm look too big for my wrist. I currently wear the 42mm, and, it looks good. Was worried the 44mm might be too big. Feel better after seeing your post.

I need to get to an apple store asap, that 44mm looks massive (not a fan)
Are you a girl or just have small wrists? You do know it’s the same size as the 42mm?

Well from a series 0,1 or even 2 it’s a great update. Not so much from a 3 to a 4.

Due to the smaller edges, the smaller size Series 4 watch has more screen real estate than the previous larger size Series 1-3 watches. Might want to check them out if the bug one is too big.

With Apple Watch Series 4 models wending their way to Apple customers in the United States and many other countries today, some people have already picked up their orders and are sharing their first impressions of the new smartwatch online.

Apple Watch Series 4 owners on Reddit and the MacRumors forums appear to be particularly impressed by the larger screen and redesigned chassis.

Reddit user bluebear74 said that "coming from a S0 to S4 is amazing," and expressed surprise at the amount of information the bigger screen is able to display: "There's so many complications I don't know what to do with them all!"

Having previously used a Series 1 model, Reddit user KaiiXiang in Singapore said they were "really blown away" by the new watch's screen and responsiveness, although they noted that Siri "still sucks" since it's "either slow or fails to pick up what I say most of the time."

MacRumors forum member Jasonstevens said his new Series 4 "looks/feels amazing," although he found the haptic feedback on the Digital Crown less impressive: "It feels like it's just tapping my wrist not my finger."

Reddit user DisHowWeDo, who has small wrists (170mm) and had never owned an Apple Watch before, said they were "REALLY worried the 44mm would look huge on me," but ultimately found it to be "flipping perfect" and "definitely the right size."

Likewise, MacRumors forum member Suxamethonium was a little worried about the 44mm size when looking at it in the Apple Store app, but he now felt it was "pretty much perfect" for an average man's wrist. He also commented that the new watch faces "make much better use of all that real estate."

Perhaps surprisingly, several customers appear to have been caught off guard by the color of the Gold stainless steel Series 4 model, with one Reddit user calling it "quite pink... Like a rose gold." Another said they expected it to be a lot more gold and felt a bit disappointed, although they were "sticking with it," while MacRumors forum member defn felt the color "goes surprisingly well with a lot of watch bands."

The watch makes my ass look bigger.....

Oh my Hermès S4 pic made it into the article!

They got rid of the square box and white plastic container from last year. But the packaging is still very classy and elegant.

The pic makes the watch look bigger than it is. It’s not that much bigger than the 42mm.

Here are a few more pics for those not following the Hermès thread.

You have too much money (although much less now!). ;)

Congrats on the beautiful watch.

I know it would for me. I don’t see it as being better or staying more productive.

A distraction is a distraction. If anything you may be even more tempted after receiving a notification on the watch to check your phone.

I guess it’s just not for me yet.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll tootsie pop? I don’t know, I’ve never tried one.

I have a 40 mm coming today. I have small wrists (about 160 mm) and even without trying them on, I think the 44 mm would look a little too big. This will be my first Apple Watch.

Aha, but here’s a little trick for you. I’ve had people try this for a week and so far everyone loves it. Buy the watch, put it and your phone on silent. Make it so only text messages and phone calls alert you through vibrations. Then just sit back and relax. I’m telling you the watch is great for fitness first, but secondly it is amazing for peace of mind.

My plan is to quit the phone most of the times and only go out with a LTE Apple Watch, to force myself to reduce activities that harm my focus during the day.

Exactly this. Im buying my girlfriend one so she can leave her phone at home and stop checking facebook and insta every 10 minutes.

Good luck with that, unless APPLE drastically fixed the battery drain while on LTE or you have great single strength anywhere you go, your battery may last you 6 hours tops. That is my experience with my Series 3. In fact, I went to lunch the other day, gone maybe an hour, left my phone at work, boom 40% gone. 1 Hour and 40% gone. I like the convenience of the LTE model, but when and if I do it all over again, I am going non-LTE. ATT gouges me for $15 a month as a wearable. 99% of the time, my watch is near my phone or on Wi-Fi. The convenience is just not worth $15 a month, on the few chances I might not have my phone.

I'm picking mine up this morning. Can I ask employee if I can swap my black sport loop band for a different color?

So much lighter.

Well, my wallet would be 30% lighter thanks to the comical price increase

Well, we bought Series 0 in May 2015 for $399, the "direct replacement" 44mm - in terms of big v. small/band compatibility - that we'll wind up buying (for Christmas) is $429, though the wife may go 40mm at $399.

So for us, we're not really seeing any kind of major price impact, if any at all (in fact, it seems amazing the price is roughly the same from our perspective, buying a new one ~3.5 later :D)

While I still do not like the red ring on the crown, it looks so much better than a solid red dot.

hmmm... Using technology to fight tech addiction.

It might work...

I feel like the photos are making it look bigger than it is... in reality it feels and looks pretty much the same size as the series 3.

It’s an optical illusion. Taking a closeup with an iphone makes it look huge compared to the wrist because it is closer to the lense …
If you take a picture of your old watch from that angle, it will look similar.

Take a picture from a meter away and crop it, then you’ll get a more realistic picture.
