Seashell loop

The seashell loop looks really cool. I'm getting tired of black bands and may go for that one next ime. Love how the silver looks too.
I have a 42mm and I still haven't decided whether to buy the 40 or the 44.

Does anyone know if the gold stainless steel will get easily scuffed up like the silver stainless? I have a space black version and it does not scuff up at all with the amount of accidents I've had. Just wondering if the gold stainless will be as durable

I've got a 44mm for me, and a 40mm for the missus. I had the series 2 before, she had a 38mm series 1.

Won't bother with the photo of the old 42mm vs 44mm as that's been done already. Below is my OLD series 2 42mm (black) vs the NEW 40mm.

As you can see, the new 40mm has a smaller form factor, but a very similar screen size to the previous, bigger watch. Missus is very happy. :)

Thanks for sharing the 42 vs 40mm.
The Watch is smaller, yet the display feels the same and there are only minor differences if you look at the specs.
Did you feel the 40 was difficult to read when packed with complications?
When I bought the 42 back in the day I did it because I felt I could read stuff better on the bigger watch, but this time I think I'll go for the smaller one. I think it looks better, I've never been a fan of big watches on my wrist

Actually it makes a huge difference. Leaving the phone at home but still being notified of emergency type things is great! You are able to respond to very important things but idling wasting time on the phone is no longer an issue.

My job is such that I need to be reachable at all times. Having the Watch means I can be mostly disconnected but not completely.

It does look a lot better than the previous versions.

But it still looks like an unattractive, boxy smartwatch, not like a watch one would wear with pride (yes, there are certainly a lot of people that do enjoy wearing it).

I guess i just don't agree with it not looking good. I have a stainless steel watch with a nice metal band and I think it looks very classy when I don't use a busy watch face.

For those saving sales tax with B&H, Jewish holiday with storewide closing from Sep 23rd through Oct 3rd. No indication they are shipping anything today so apparently there will be a significant delay getting the new watches and phones to B&H customers. Sorry folks, that sucks.

Gorgeous
I'm incredibly happy with mine! Very quick into the store, served very quickly, and the whole unboxing was a delight!

The new screen size is a significant upgrade over the old version — everything is just so much easier to read and navigate around. The haptic crown scrolling is a nice little touch. The additional height (44mm v 42mm) feels like nothing really —it's certainly not some mammoth watch, and while it's only slight it does feel notably thinner. And it's very quick & responsive too.

Overall I'm very impressed!
Gorgeous watch!

I've owned every generation of the watch so far, but I'm going to skip the Series 4even though I agree that the watch looks great (although the earlier ones do, too). Each version was a significant improvement over the prior one (Series 3 adding LTE and a real nice speed bump), and the Series 4 certainly seems better, but the Series 3 got the watch to where I needed it to be. Given that it is a new design with a significant new feature (ECG), I'm willing to wait for Apple to refine it for next year. I want to see the Series 4 in person, too, because of the size increase. Hopefully, they will continue with the same case design next year so I can still use all the bands I've accumulated. And better battery live when using LTE/GPS.

What is annoying to me is that Apple still does not have a non-Hermes face that is mimics a more traditional square/rectangle watch face. The round face within a square shape is the main reason why I use the modular face. Not clear whether the existing modular face is still available on the Series 4, or if the only choice is the new round one (which is extremely busy).

Still, the Apple Watch is definitely coming into its own. Great watch, and am looking forward to hearing about people's experience with the Series 4. I may break down yet.

Been using my series 4 for a few hours now. Super impressed how much more useable this watch is coming from a series 2. Everything opens instantly, AirPods connect way faster, screen is nice for reading information, the sports band feels nicer than previous years, all in all I’m super happy I upgraded.

The modular face is still there, but it looks different to take advantage of the bigger display. I think they showed it during the keynote for a brief period of time

Thanks, that's a great comparison for me (and I'm sure there are plenty of others) since I'm considering a 40mm to replace a 42mm for the wife. On Apple.com they show the 40mm display as 759 sq mm and the older 42 as 740 sq mm so you are getting a touch more display area in a smaller (and thinner) case.

If you exercise, the watch with LTE is a game changer. Leave your phone behind and workout and run unencumbered.
Not to mention, Podcasting is now baked into WatchOS. Now there is really no reason to lug along a phone everywhere you go.

Did you feel the 40 was difficult to read when packed with complications?

The display seems much better, brighter and clearer. Looking at the spec sheet, the display resolution is the same, but it feels much clearer.

I also wondered about buying the 40mm for myself as well, but now I have the 44mm the additional screen estate in a similar physical size is fantastic.

The best example I can give, is this screen here......it's so much easier to select individual items.

Has anyone found a way to add phone or messages complications to the new infograph watch faces? It seems they're not available, which is pretty frustrating as I've always liked to have them on my main watch face, and the infograph's are pretty cool.

My god, they're so tacky, LOL.

Once the battery craps out the watch is a paperweight, cuz you KNOW Apple takes it's consumers for idiots where they think 'oh, I need another disposable because Apple didn't make the battery replaceable'

Are you a girl or just have small wrists? You do know it’s the same size as the 42mm?

Same size watch. Oh

Well from a series 0,1 or even 2 it’s a great update. Not so much from a 3 to a 4.

The 44mm watch is most certainly not the same size as the 42mm watch. It’s right there in the name — 44mm is two millimeters larger than 42mm. And it’s both taller and wider, and thicker than the original watch.

When you customise the watch face, you select which complication you want to set as phone (or text) the use the scroll wheel. Some of them start mid way through though, so scroll both ways to ensure you see the full set of available options. It's not obvious to start with, but certainly there.

Yeah it looks humongous on your wrist. Gorgeous watch though
Photo is not representative of reality.....a fish-eye lens type effect as the camera is so close to the watch. It looks bigger than it does in real life. Same watch, but with the phone further away

*All* tech is disposable, Thats the nature of anything tech related. But its clear no matter what I or others reply to you, you genuinely don’t like the Apple Watch. For the record, why would Apple make the battery replaceable for the consumer? The iPhone,
iPad, Airpods All don’t have user replaceable batteries. Is it really that big of a deal? I would rather have Apple Dissamble the device and have them Replace it anyways.

I preordered with B&H because of the no tax but switched to Best Buy because I had an American Express credit to use. It only saved $5 or over no tax but my watch is on the truck for delivery.

Still quite big, but not gigantic has it seemed on the previous pic.
I think my wrist has a similar size so I'm still convinced the 40mm will look and feel better but I definitely have to try both in Apple Store. Too bad I can't go there today, I managed to convince myself not to pre order and now I really want to buy a series 4 :D

Holy Smokes! That's ugly. They should just ditch the watch concept and go for the full WristPad™️ from all the scifi movies.

The good news for me is that my watch has been delivered to my EE store for pickup. Bad news is that I work in a different city and won’t get back till after the shop has closed, so I’ll have to wait till tomorrow to pick it up.
