I suspect many Android people will be switching over now if not next year. The A12 is wiping the floor with every single Android phone even the international Exynos equipped Samsungs and its not even close.

No Android phone is even close. Spec whores will not be able to overlook this for long. iOS optimization already made weaker specced iPhones competitive with Android but now the gap is just ridiculous.

I gotta stop by an Apple store to check these out. I may be tempted to buy a Max right now. I was planning on keeping the 7 Plus for another year but I like shiny new things.

Ever since the iPhone 6 Plus came out in 2014, people have been calling the Plus sized phones "phablets" with countless comments from non-plus iPhone fans stating they would never be happy using an iPhone that big.

Well fast forward four years later and now we've got the XR which for all intents and purposes is the same size as the Plus iPhones of yor — but a lot heavier (due to glass back & wireless charging).

Will the XR redefine what a "phablet" isn't? Is it a phablet or not today? Because yesterday it's size most certainly was.

Whole heap of compromises listed rather than positives it seems.....
iPhone Xr compromises over the 6,7,8? Sounds like most of the "compromises" like more bezel are because they are comparing to an iPhone XS or XS Max.

The bezels on the Xr are FAR smaller than an old 8 or 8 Plus. The processor is far better, the cameras are far better, it has FaceID.

The only "compromise" is the 326ppi in the Xr vs the Plus version of the old models and maybe the second camera on the Plus. The Xr is better in every other way.

There used to be only 2 phones. iPhone and iPhone Plus. The Plus people are actually probably more XS and XS Max customers...

For anyone on the standard iPhone 6, 7, or 8...this is a HUGE upgrade in every way...even the screen.

Valid points, but read what I posted.

I don't get it, I'm looking at photos of the XR and the bezels don't seem to be that big. They actually look smaller than the sides on my 7 Plus, and the bezels never bothered me on that phone.

Maybe I have to wait until I can man-handle an XR in person to really judge, but the phone looks absolutely stellar. I may end up buying one after all if I like what I see in person.

Still can’t multitask like an android device, or even apples older iPad Pro models with lesser processors.

Android has benifits outside of base benchmarks. It’s the main reason I enjoy both platforms.

Nobody complained about huge iPhone bezels (especially the top and bottom ones) either but time have changed. Samsung introduced people to really small bezels and they liked it. The standards changed and by modern standards XR bezels are considered not up to par.

I did. In 2016.

I don't understand why phones keep getting bigger, with no small options. I mean if you want a huge phone, go for it, there's probably a use for that, but why is there nothing for those who want a "normal" sized device?

Why didn't they make the phone *smaller* than the XS? Currently the XS is larger than the 6/6s/7/8, and there is simply no iPhone for those who found the non-"plus" sized iPhones big enough. That size no longer exists. The XR could have been the "cheap" iPhone and therefore the smallest one. Personally I find that even the iPhone 6/7/8 was way too huge, and while I may get used to it, there's no way I'd want anything even bigger than that. I think the SE is the perfect size.

What glowing reviews.
"Feels like a toy"
"Kind of a brighter blood red"
"Too heavy"
"Screen noticeably worse watching videos"
"Colors wrong when viewed from an angle"

Please, tell me some more about how Apple thinks this phone is worth a higher price tag than the Plus lines of years past while it's more comparable to the 5C.

Which honestly, the 5C didn't deserve that knock. It was a pretty great budget iPhone. Apple did an okay job for a budget phone here with the XR it sounds like, except they forgot to give it a budget price tag.
Nice Cherrypicking. Do the same for the positives and don't take out things like, "You'd never view your phone from the angles the color shifiting occurs."

Here, I'll help youo since you won't be impartial:

FaceID is amazing
speed is amazing
screen is amazing
camera is amazing.
It's all amazing.
Battery life is excellent too.
Phhwooooar what a phone!
Very happy with it so far.
A big upgrade.
The display comments were highly exaggerated - it looks beautiful.
Great job @Apple
Came to the iPhone XR from Android, says it's super fast and responsive.

To what degree these hgh scores are due to the low screen resolution? I am not sure Android users are going to like this trade-off.

I haven't heard this tired argument in years. Seriously, it's a phone. What exactly are you expecting to do, have 15 applications open, not full screen, and just touch on them to switch to them (basically how my workflow is on my PC)?

I am genuinely curious how this even a thing these days.
