I suspect many Android people will be switching over now if not next year. The A12 is wiping the floor with every single Android phone even the international Exynos equipped Samsungs and its not even close.
4795 single
10980 multi

No Android phone is even close. Spec whores will not be able to overlook this for long. iOS optimization already made weaker specced iPhones competitive with Android but now the gap is just ridiculous.

I gotta stop by an Apple store to check these out. I may be tempted to buy a Max right now. I was planning on keeping the 7 Plus for another year but I like shiny new things.
This won't tempt Android users.

Sorry.

Guilty as charged. Seems pretty noticeable to me. Not that I would necessarily let it bother me. It's certainly true that most people don't seem to show much appreciation for these kinds of details whenever Apple gets them right. Although you could maybe argue that, subconsciously, it is noticed by many more.
If Steve Jobs were alive it wouldn’t have happened, along with the uneven holes at the bottom of the xs phones.

To what degree these hgh scores are due to the low screen resolution? I am not sure Android users are going to like this trade-off.

The XS Max gets 4796 and 11159. Resolution has nothing to do with raw SoC performance.

It doesn’t even tempt iOS users. Well, at least this one anyway.

Because you already have a capable device and don’t need to upgrade. I don’t either but I will be very happy when I eventually do.

I won’t buy another iPad until they go OLED. Blacks on LCD suck and Samsung has had OLED for ages.

This XR is, well no surprises, not as good as XS and XS max.

Still can’t multitask like an android device, or even apples older iPad Pro models with lesser processors.

Android has benifits outside of base benchmarks. It’s the main reason I enjoy both platforms.

Perhaps but that can be overlooked by how well iOS and macOS work together. While Windows is starting to integrate Android more and more, it still cannot compared to continuity, handoff, airdrop, iCloud, etc. This is the beauty of what Apple has done and it will only get better in future macOS releases.

I also expect iOS to get dark mode in 13.0 and that will really make people go crazy.

They don’t suck and are pretty damn good in a bright environment. LCDs tend to be brighter than OLED on average. I’m not saying OLED isn’t the best but a well calibrated, accurate LCD in this day and age is not garbage.

I don't understand why phones keep getting bigger, with no small options. I mean if you want a huge phone, go for it, there's probably a use for that, but why is there nothing for those who want a "normal" sized device?

Why didn't they make the phone *smaller* than the XS? Currently the XS is larger than the 6/6s/7/8, and there is simply no iPhone for those who found the non-"plus" sized iPhones big enough. That size no longer exists. The XR could have been the "cheap" iPhone and therefore the smallest one. Personally I find that even the iPhone 6/7/8 was way too huge, and while I may get used to it, there's no way I'd want anything even bigger than that. I think the SE is the perfect size.

I thought the same way. I was resistant to change. I totally trashed the 6 Plus when it launched and went for the 6. When the telephoto lens forced my to buy the 7 Plus, I saw why people liked these huge phones. It has actually led me to barely use my iPad when I always used it when at home in the 4S era.

Once you get used to a screen larger than 5” you simply cannot go back to anything smaller. Text is easier to read. You see more content on pages and watching video is just more pleasant.

I don't get it, I'm looking at photos of the XR and the bezels don't seem to be that big. They actually look smaller than the sides on my 7 Plus, and the bezels never bothered me on that phone.

Maybe I have to wait until I can man-handle an XR in person to really judge, but the phone looks absolutely stellar. I may end up buying one after all if I like what I see in person.

It is a stellar phone and I hate to praise anything by Cook’s Apple. FaceID is unbelievably quick and smooth.

Disclaimer - moved from 6S to XR.

Coming from the SE. I totally love mine. Perfect size. I don’t think I could go back to a smaller iPhone

I would never buy this phone due to the low screen quality, but it’s a great alternative for consumers who want an iPhone, aren’t interested in all the extra specs of the xs phones, and want to save money.

Low screen quality??
Seriously??

It may not be oled but it's certainly a superb LCD.

So many snobs on here. If you like your phone...good for you. If XR owners like their phone...good for them. If you are the kind of person who talks about how much better this or that thing that you have is...you have no real friends. Nobody actually likes those kind of people. Just sayin.

Ok after 5 minutes with FaceID I’m sold. Love this phone as I used to have a 6+ and 7+ but didn’t want OLED with X/XS/XSMax. This feels really solid and for me is perfect coming most recently from an SE.

I got the blue and really like the color but may want to change it out after I go to the apple store and see the other colors. Namely red white and black.

Android users have traditionally bragged about specs like the Windows people. Now they can no longer talk about how fast their phones are.

XS and XS Max.

Okay we were talking about the XR. You said the processor blew Android away and when I mention the screen you just switch models. WTF? FWIW I hope it does well just found your statement somewhat absurd.

Tripling down on the X moniker has certainly proven to be a mistake. CNET counted 24 people lined up between Sydney, London and New York. Combined.

The speaker is insane compared to the 6S I have. An easily leave it playing on the opposite side of the room and hear the music comfortably.

Honestly if your spending upwards of $750 anyway why not get the best for $250 more?

I would understand if Apple priced the XR at $600, but at $750 it’s not even a good deal.

I’m all IOS but I would rather get a new GS9 Plus then this phone...

You're talking about a 33% increase, which isn't exactly small. And if you have to buy one for the spouse as well, now you're looking at $500 more.
