Zero complaints on size/weight and this is coming from a SE owner with slightly less than average hand size.
Same here. I was worried coming from the SE, but I can't see that small screen anymore.

But yet here we are! A LOT of iOS users bought them so you’re clearly wrong.
Honestly if your spending upwards of $750 anyway why not get the best for $250 more?
I would understand if Apple priced the XR at $600, but at $750 it’s not even a good deal.
I’m all IOS but I would rather get a new GS9 Plus then this phone...
You could take any phone and quote some “negatives “, but who said it was a budget phone and by whose value system what constitutes “budget”?What glowing reviews.

Please, tell me some more about how Apple thinks this phone is worth a higher price tag than the Plus lines of years past while it's more comparable to the 5C.
Which honestly, the 5C didn't deserve that knock. It was a pretty great budget iPhone. Apple did an okay job for a budget phone here with the XR it sounds like, except they forgot to give it a budget price tag.
First, it's not $250 more, the more comparable iPhone here is the XSMax so that would be $350 more.
So that is about 40%+ more. That's not a small difference. Add in the extra $100 for Apple Care now you are at a $450 dollar difference.
It is a great deal for the screen size, speed, camera, etc...and it has literally everything the Xs have other then the OLED, stainless steel (which honestly doesn't matter when you have a case) and 3D Touch which most don't care about.
Longtime lurker and former SE owner here. Got my XR upgrade (from an 8) today, and wow. This is one helluva phone. First impression out of the box is appropriately premium and appropriately Apple.
The size is going to take some getting used to, for sure. I thought the 8 was a monster when I first got it, and the XR, in a relatively minimal case, feels like a plus-sized phone for sure. But the benefit is a screen that feels about twice as large as the one on the 8. I haven’t experienced OLED on a phone, though I have it on my watch. Wouldn’t say I’m missing it on the phone, though if I were going from an OLED to this screen I might disagree. Coming from an 8, though, this feels like a major improvement.
Face ID feels like magic. Seriously, it’s crazy to me that this even works.
I went with the coral option (in part because I was making the purchasing decision at 3 am on preorder day... stupid time zones) and am actually really happy with it—it’s not nearly as pink as I was worried it might be. Kind of melon-y, maybe. Really nice, though.
I am missing having an earphone indicator in the status bar—with AirPods it’s sometimes hard to tell whether they’ve connected and that was a handy indicator. Also haven’t found a way to get battery percentage instead of just a bar graph.I’m also not sure about the keyboard placement—seems like there’s some wasted space underneath.
Overall really pleased with this purchase. YMMV, but coming from an 8 or earlier I expect this will feel like a major upgrade.

ya but you would add in apple care for any phone so you cant really count that against.

Cause they get them for Pennies with demand in decline and lots of manufacturing capacity availableOled has been in use on Android phone for years including low cost phones in the $400-$700 range. Why is Apple forced to use LCD to make a $700 phone? It seems a little ridiculous. By the way, for anyone coming from a smaller phone and complaining about the size, give it a few days or so. It will start to feel much smaller pretty quickly, unless you giant case it.
I think you misunderstood my AppleCare comment. If you purchase and Xs or Xs Max...AppleCare costs more then the Apple care for the Xr...but I was wrong on the price it's $50 more, not $100 more. But it's still a $400 difference with the price of the phone & additional AppleCare....so again, that's a ton of money to an average user.
Also a big gripe with the Xs phones is that they start at 64GB and should honestly be 128GB to start.
What glowing reviews.

It costs a little more than an 8 plus did because it has a larger, more complicated screen design and the more expensive FaceID array. The only similarity with the 5c is that it comes in different colors. The 5c was essentially a year old iPhone 5 bundled in a plastic case (nothing wrong with that). The iPhone XR borrows nothing from a last gen iPhone model (maybe the cellular radio). The silicon is current, the camera is current (just missing one), the size and LCD design are all new.
I don’t like the new Ferrari either....
ok gotcha, but yea not having a 128 pisses me off. I dont need 256 and 64 isnt enough. i currently only use 70gb. But they did this on purpose to screw the little data guy. So @Apple, you get the middle finger for that one....lol
The ram i think is the same. The screen is kinda current for the B market...But no the XR does not get the faster gigabyte class LTE
I wish people would learn. Getting people to provide an insightful review on a product they just got is pointless. It'll obviously be full of praise because they're hyped. User reviews are way more useful ~3 months later, when they've had a chance to actually use it and not just tow the "Omg its so shiny" line.
The product could be great or it could be naff. An end user review 24 hours after the release isn't going to tell anyone anything though.
Tripling down on the X moniker has certainly proven to be a mistake. CNET counted 24 people lined up between Sydney, London and New York. Combined.
