That's a smart decision really. And this is coming from someone who just ordered an XS Max and I've only had the X for a little over 5 months. I know it's not a smart decision but I really couldn't help myself.

they were some pretty quick snaps of the boys within minutes of it being set up, the thing right near Styxs head ( the white dog ) was a hanging toy and it was right next to his head thats why it looks clearer.
Was it in the same plane as his head?

I wonder what techniques Apple is using to do the blurring - if anyone knows

This year’s phones look solid, but I want a must-have. Hopefully next year brings us must-have phones. Who am I kidding, though? I’m going to need a phone next year, so I’m probably going to go for the Max 2.0.

It does not look like it's behind the dog, but beside the dog and creeping into the frame at the same distance from the camera lens as the dog.
Only saying what it looked like to me. Looks like you are correct though, think the person who took it liked your post and might have implied it in a reply to mine.

Great just got an email from fake apple South Africa (core group) which runs apples business in SA for pre orders and with taxes and imports included the new Iphone Xs range starts from $1 536,968 US dollars or R22 000 (Rand). It's is now more expensive than the previous years entry level macbook pro... For something that I primarily use for phone, texts, emails 90% of the time...

Looks identical to X......Very nice looking.....Will be watching its Dual SIM, Dual WhatsApp, etc...capabilities for sometime

In another thread, someone said, "no.", which is ok with me. I always hated that my Plus phones would go into landscape when I rotated them just a bit to far.
You can stop that behaviour on the Plus models by turning on "Zoomed" in Settings-Display & Brightness-Display Zoom-View

The XS is superior to the X in literally every way. The A12 also might be the most significant chip upgrade in iPhone history.
It’s the SMALLEST incremental update in apples S-cycle history! If all you’re gonna do is tout a11 to a12, normal people wont see a neglible difference.

So where does it stop then? Hexa camera? Octa Camera? Full back of the phone covered with cameras? To be honest, even dual lens I find it a bit stupid. I would rather have one camera that works brilliantly, then multi mediocre cameras.

Google has that system down perfectly with their Pixel phones.

I think I see why the images are flagging up something in my head, the images look a little like the background has gaussian blur applied but it looks like it is applied fairly evenly rather than with depth perception. I guess it all depends on what images it is applied to. Again they don't look bad, it was just making me think something was out of place.

I wonder how much depth perception can be read by dual cameras at that kind of lens separation. Its not as far apart as what your eyes are or what is used in 3d scanners.

We are waiting for our first family dogs to be bred, to add to a cat and a budgie.
Not bad for someone who said he didn't want any pets, how family members can twist your arm...

Exactly what I mean. Rather focus on perfecting one camera instead of racing on this d measuring contest who can put more cameras on a smartphone. Some others are taking this to the extreme making the phones look like spiders.

Looks good.
Just watched the video, but at around 2:23, the video goes black and doesn't come back on. Up to that point the XS Max looks amazing.

Yup, same here, don't actually think the video is bad, might have to do with adblockers/settings or whatever, it's not the first time this happened, there are more Youtube video's like that

Those photos aren't bed per se, but something seems off to me. Not sure about the control you have but I think the depth of field on the left had dog is too shallow. And there is something weird about the depth in the image with that thing in the photo top right. it looks to me like it is behind the dog but has about the same sharpness as the dog.

It looks artificial because the background looks flattened and blurred to make the subject stand out. It doesn't really have any natural depth. Not the bokeh I am used to with photos.

Lol bro! Are you kidding? It’s the SMALLEST incremental update in apples S-cycle history! If all you’re gonna do is tout a11 to a12, normal people wont see a neglible difference LOL cmon... cmon. Deluded!
The XS offers quite a few upgrades over last year’s X, with no increase in price: 4GB RAM (increased from 3GB), better camera with a new sensor, new image signal processor, various improved picture and video modes, better display, improved sound, IP68 water resistance, dual SIM capability, faster FaceID, faster wireless charging, up to 15% faster CPU, up to 50% faster GPU and the machine learning neural engine co-processor goes from 2-core/600 billion operations per second to an amazing 8-core/5 trillion ops per sec—over 7x faster.

Also: stronger glass, better battery life, stereo video recording via four microphones, more frequency bands, including T-Mobile's 600 MHz LTE Band 71, and a faster “gigabit class” cellular radio. (In recent tests on US cellular carriers, the average download speeds more than doubled and upload speeds increased by 50%.)

Some will upgrade just for the gold color lol, and a $200 upgrade to 512GB is now available as well, for those who need half a terabyte of storage on their phone. For those who miss the Plus size, for an extra $100 a 6.5” display is also available.

Seems like a great S year upgrade to me.
