Hmm. So the MacBook airs still don't have a retina display AND they are thicker and heavier than the MacBook? Um...they kinda don't deserve to be called Airs anymore.

Sigh, downgraded facetime cam too at only 480p? I was hoping for a better improved camera. Looks like the camera is worse than the current MBA.

You're right. The line up is somewhat convoluted right now, which makes me wonder what they are planning for the Air line. It is filling the cheap end of the market very nicely for them, but historically, the Macbook was the cheap and basic device, the air was the more expensive and light version and then there was the Macbook Pro. For now the Air and the Macbook have swapped places in the lineup. Will consumers really care? Probably not.

Definitely not going to be getting one of these anytime soon. I'm glad I broke down and got my MBA 1.5 years ago, amid the rumors of some elusive MBA redesign coming out in the future. My MBA is the perfect compromise of functionality, design, and thinness. Held onto my first Macbook for (nearly) 6 years, I expect this one to last about as long.

A keyboard shouldn't take time to get used to. It's like a toaster or a microwave. It should feel intuitive the moment you use it.

Yeah, it's not like a pair of shoes you break in, if a keyboard doesn't feel right at the beginning, it won't feel right a few weeks/months later. We've all had bad experiences with less than ideal keyboards that were a result of poor design, cost-cutting, size-limitation, etc. We'll see if it's a keyboard that needs improvement for next year's MBr revision.

Awful sounding keyboard? Are we reading the same articles? From what I watched on the Keynote, this is the only keyboard they're going to make. Apple rarely backtracks.

Don't worry, the industry will follow suit.
Just like when the first Intel MacBooks had island style keys.
We'll have to get used to it.

So, your blind devotion to Apple is causing you to make apologies for them to the level of telling another Apple fan that they live in a little world and to stop buying their products?

Yikes, the forums have officially reached a new low.

Your blind hatred of Apple causes you to nitpick like it's nobody's business, so I guess you're even?

In all seriousness, this machine is not for you. You're concerned about Apple removing all the ports you need on future Macs? Then there are plenty of great Windows computers out there, just take a look at the Microsoft Signature store. I'm using Windows 10 as I type this, and it's a fantastic and snappy OS, even on the almost decade-old Acer laptop I'm running it on. It's simply perfect on a newer machine, and it's not even RTM yet.

Nobody is making excuses for Apple. They're just trying to help you realize that the new 12" MacBook isn't for you. And maybe, given the road Apple appears to be going on, the whole company just isn't for you. You've got tons of choices, stop getting upset because one specific company isn't giving you what you want.

Where is the Magnetic Connector

Please WHERE is my the Magnetic Connector in the 12".???

I don't mind that they left just one connector but they are taking one of the BEST features of Mac, THE Magnetic Connector.

I don't know about the rest but with out this my computer would fly like 3 times a day and it would be dead by now.
:(
Apple I really didn't like this change. DON'T SCREW IT UP. please....

yes, you're right, Apple should've accommodated 10 people like you.

Your mum's basement is not an office.

Disagreeing with the direction a company is taking that I have invested time and money into isn't blind hatred, buddies. It's called being critical. Just because I'm not blinded by Apple's shiny PR doesn't mean I'm any less of a fan of the company and products than you are, and any less deserving of using their products.

It simply means I'm not chugging down the Kool-Aid.

Another reason to wait until the MBr revision next year in addition to a 2nd type-c usb port and skylake. The 2016 MBr should be a gem.

That's exactly why I'm sticking with my current rMBP with plenty of necessary ports available to me.

I wasn't thrilled when they removed the optical drive from the MBP line either, but I've learned to live with it.

That's sums up my approach to the od removal as well. Not thrilled but learned to live with it.

I'm betting they'll have an Magnetic Adapter that plugs into the usb-c port.

So, compared to the new 13" retina MacBookPro which also has the force click trackpad, this has a smaller, lower resolution screen, half the cpu cores running at less than half the clock speed, and 1/5th the ports... and it costs more?

I have a feeling that when the MacBook Pro gets a full redesign, it's not going to be much more volume/weight than the current Air line, but will have a 15" option. And less ports, probably.

Not to mention you'll need to buy new USB-C ports, hubs, and dongles on top of that.
