Long as any aluminum alloy material Apple chooses to use for iPhone 17, is stronger, lighter, better heat dissipation, easy to paint and cheaper to cast is all good.
Aluminum alloys can be almost as strong as steel, but are about one-third its weight.

Its a mature product, similar to laptops. Not much can be done design wise to improve it, just newer/better internals like TB5, OLED etc.
They can still improve the design like making the camera lenses not stick out, rounding the sides, etc. it’s far from perfect at this point.

They’re probably using aluminum because they’re using more metal overall. I wonder why. Just aesthetics?
The US is about to come under a major change. Apple is an American company. It’s not hard to figure out. Apple has to do what is best for them financially and it makes sense at least to me.

I am reminded of the “first iPhone 14 Pro” rumors which claimed to have:
  • A flat camera bump
  • Round buttons
  • A mesh grill
  • A “sandwiched” iPhone 4 like design

I never said it was perfect, just a mature design that can only be fine tuned. I still use a Xs Max, I love the thin design, rounded edges and 3D touch. Have a 16 Pro Max on the way now that it might be the last Titanium iPhone.

Based on that render, I guess Apple will wait one more year before quietly removing the ridiculous camera button, without admitting it was a silly concession for not having AI ready at launch...

I would love if they went back to the Xs design.

Best design ever, Im on my 3rd one. It still gets latest iOS updates so I don't feel like I'm missing out. I was hopefully about the 17 Air but seeing thats its aluminium im a bit disappointed. Maybe it will be a 7000-series aluminium that is much stronger then 6000-series, but I still prefer steel/titanium.

That was just from Jon prosser and it was a load of bull from a massive liar.

No one else claimed it would look how he said, this however is getting similar descriptions from multiple outlets.

With wonderful tariffs. Can't wait to see how they work as nearly everything the US produces has Chinese parts in them.
According to a cnn article today smartphones will go up a minimum of $213 but could be more. Obviously the more expensive a phone is the more it will increase in price. I’m going to guess that the upcoming iPhone SE will sell better than previous SE phones.

The move to aluminum would be fine. It’s cheap and lightweight. I never understood the move years ago to stainless steel for the flagship models— it’s not like you could risk not having a case just because of the stainless steel or titanium. That said, I do think that the metal lens rings on the pro models hold up a lot better than the aluminum ones on the base models. That, to me, is the only meaningful usage of stainless steel or titanium on the iPhone.

iPhone 11 Pro was legendary, it had the optimum balance between size, style, functionality and photography. I wish new 17 Pro will be a modern resurrection of this model, as its optical true 12mpx 2x can't even be surpassed by the pseudo-2x of 16 Pro, while actually being an enhanced 12 mpx crop.

Today most mobile phones are emphasizing around 23-27 mm eqv. focal length as their main lens. The best IQ comes from that. In fact, it's the most boring one and too close to UWA than next in tele direction. Instead, they could have a more sensible configuration of 13mm, 35mm & 105mm. First two being 48 mpx, last unit could be a macro-capable telephoto with 200 mpx sensor to enable further zooming in favourable light, similar to some Android flagships.

The smartphone is a fully matured product, there's no much else you can do with it.
My smartphone has replaced dSLR for most times. Now I want it to replace the drone as well. Can we have a flying phone, all that you need is 4 additional retractable arms with small props :D
