Cool story. A shame it won't get too interesting until there are more people around. I'm really hoping we get a midnight launch in NZ as in 2008 - that was a lot of fun even just for the afternoon & evening; we had a couple of 2-3-nighters in front though.
There's precious little to get excited about, especially to the point of queuing, these days, definitely something nice to be a part of ... but a week beforehand is maybe a bit much, and I can imagine it even making the wait feel longer! So good luck, definitely!

it doesn't matter if he has a accent or whatnot, he seems good natured and for all you know he could be pretty intelligent too even though most of the commenters on youtube and the like seem to have decided on basing him on a southern sterotype, I actually thought his posts here were well written etc, doubt he was planning on fame either, let the guy do what he wants, the staff at the apple store are okay with it, police have not removed him yet, he seems genuinely nice and friendly and wants to stay outside a apple store for a week, sounds like he is having a pretty good time at it too.

I don't know either, that's what she told me and she seemed certain. Thing is that may make it different is that he's also the main account holder that I'm the authorized user of (I told her that so that may make a difference).
And when I tell him this I'm telling him I'm not gaurenteeing him anything, that's just what htey told me. I'm with you, it sounds pretty odd to me that they'd allow me to do that. But I guess we may (he may be able to come pick up the phone himself) find out come next thursday
If you're an authorized user that is a different story, i put my account in my wife's name and last year when I went to bestbuy to get my phone they said I had to be authorized, so I said hang on one second, I walked outside called 611 pretended to be my wife and authorized myself, walked back in and told BB guy that we were good to go. I told them what I did and they just laughed.

I had to stop by the Apple Knox store yesterday, and I saw him but didn't really connect what was going on until reading the thread.
I have to go back and make an exchange today, and I would be happy to bring him a care package of sorts from MR.

Totally agree and commend you about living your own life. People like to bring others down because of their own insecurities and issues. Admittedly, I was (and still sometimes am) a chronic “disser” also. I am trying to work on it because I recognize this is terrible, is not what who i want to be.....

Some Gatorade or Powerade or other electrolyte beverage would probably be good for him if the heat's gonna be as crazy as they were predicting down there. I know he gets to go inside during the day but it still couldn't hurt.
