jesus, i'm reading so much mixed stuff. i don't have a preorder and i'm looking to just camp out. should i go to an at&t store or an apple store? also, does anyone know for sure what at&t and/or apple stores will be doing for lines? i've seen "for every 2 preorders, 1 first come" and "all preorders, then first come"

thanks.

Hey, whatever floats your boat man, I wish I had the time, energy, and patience to camp days on end for a phone. Make a scene!

Just made it through all of the posts. Justin, do what you do! So many times in life, I have heard people say, "I wish I would have...." and here you are making an adventure out of the mundane task of waiting in line.
I would like to say something about the accent comments....what a person says is so much more important than how he says it. That accent is usually accompanied by a smidge of wit, some old fashioned common sense, and is not directly correlated with intelligence.

such hate on this guy... i think it shows true determination. hope he gets it, no hassle (other than sleeping on the street in a tent for a week).

big ups to this man

It's his life, jeez people, if the lad wants to camp for days outside an Apple store.... By god just leave him be. After all it is his life...right? After reading some of the negative posts I couldn't tell.....

A lot of people need to understand one thing; live your own damn life. Obviously, Justin can't work or go to school, so he's just trying to have fun. If I didn't have work or school, I'd try and learn to play guitar or surf. I dare one of you guys to make fun of me for trying to learn to surf. Sure, my ambition might be a little more proactive, but it's still just something to do in my free time. A lot of people obsess over CoD, hell my roommate spent "20 days" playing it in his spare time, at least Justin is getting outside.

i'm wondering the same thing, i've read both of those and would like to know if anyone has heard anything from apple about this?

Nice work, Justin! Ignore the haters, they're just jealous of the shiny new phone you'll be getting on launch day.

Greeting to everyone from your famous camper! This is my first official post for MacRumors. One of the users printed off a copy of the thread and brought it to me and I thought it would be fun to join the conversation.

Some would say I am crazy, but I say I'm a very determined fan. In fact I just might be one the biggest Apple fans you will actually meet. I have been the first costumer for this store since 2008 when the iPhone 3G was released.

Normally I only camp out over night, but since I do not work due to the fact I am disabled with a seizure disorder and I am not in school at the point, I figure I just make it a fun experience and do it for a week.

Yes I did reserve a phone, but again, I'm doing it for a fun experience. I haven't had a trip or vacation in past 10 years so I figured I make it a full week camping trip.

My setup and location has everything I could need to live for a week, even in the Texas heat. Tent is packed with a sleeping gear, a chair, full ice chest of drinks and food, and the Apple staff have been very nice to me treating me like a king. LOL I also brought a extension power cord for phone charging and things that need power. There is even a portable toilet around the back of the store if needed.

That been said, I'm actually doing really well out here. If anyone gets a chance, come join the fun!

Justin

Justin, go for it. You're crazy man, but respect! *thumbs up* enjoy your new iPhone.

This thread is like rainbows and unicorns compared to the front-page article thread. So many hateful comments over there.

Anyhow, best of luck Justin. Hope you get a free phone out of this.

Has anyone thought about this:

Justin said in his first post that he is #1 Apple fan. Then how come he never had Macrumors account up until now? Macrumors is #1 Apple news&rumors and fanboy site so must have for any Apple fan. Especially for #1 fan

Dont know what happens in America, but when a someone sleeps on the pavement they get kicked off by the police or arrested

Due to the UK authorities being obsessed with health and safety, it would not be allowed.

Depends on the area, the typically don't allow you to camp out like that anywhere. But given the fact he's now almost turned into a local celebrity, and the fact that the Apple store seems to be "Ok" with him sleeping outside, they might be giving this guy a pass at this location. I was unable to stay over night outside the Mall last year for the 3gs, so its all relative to where, why and when I suppose.

Just created an account to wish Justin the best of luck. You're hitting the news on all major Dutch iPhone sites now :D

Although I thought you were crazy at first, I have respect for your determination :apple: Succes Gozert!

Agreed, I am almost a little jealous that I dont have the time or ability to do the same as him. Seems like it would be pretty fun, I'm sure he has plenty of visitors I doubt he would be too lonely out there.
