While I will agree that this guy is more or less an attention whore most likely, it seems many on this board instantly jump to peoples finances.

Now I got flamed in another area where people were spending $1,000 for a standing room ticket at the Stanley Cup Finals... that to me is irresponsible.

There is a chance that this guy either has a solid padding of money OR he has a week of paid vacation and he figures what the hell. A little press, money for chilling outside of Apple and a guaranteed iPhone. Hell he is probably thinking some special treatment may come out of this.

Who knows, but there is no need to jump to conclusions and automatically label him as a deadbeat who should be at work. Just because some of us need to work every single day we are scheduled doesn't mean everybody does.

Who Has A Week To Spend Camping Out For A Phone?

Employed people do get vacation time throughout the year. Now if this guy is using up a week of his vacation time to stand out there waiting for the iphone. thats a whole different discussion all together, and there is no forum section for psychological issues here on MR.

BAH!! You're no fun... let the flogging continue!!!

Longtime lurker, first post... I was across the street at Chuy's for lunch and did a double take when I saw this. The guy was no where to be found though. He's prob getting help. It's hot as hell out there... poor guy.

It was priceless to see the looks from people rounding that corner though. :D

now see ya'll can hate and call him a nerd but I GUARANTEE this guy has his ducks in a row (has a reservation) and will walk out of that Apple store with a shiny new iPhone. He won't be the ones who roll out of bed at 11:30 AM and then WHINE AND COMPLAIN when Apple is all out of phones, nor will he be on this board posted up in the "I WAITED IN LINE FOR FIVE MINUTES AND DIDN'T GET AN IPHONE" thread where no doubt people will scream and shout that Apple killed their first born.

I think Pablo said it best :

So will hundreds of other people in Dallas and hundreds of thousands elsewhere who aren't sleeping outside for a week.

Who cares.

He won't be one of the ones who don't.

That's all that matters.

Sorry, but have to agree with rwilliams on this one. Why should we have respect for someone who will achieve exactly what the person who strolls in later that day with their reservation and leaves with a fully activated phone for exactly that same price yet was able to actually experience life, interact with people, hang out with friends, play with their kids, sleep in a bed, shower, oh, I don't know, generally contribute to society in some small way.

The second person in line will leave that store about a minute after he does but won't have wasted 6 days and 20 hours of their life. Sorry, no respect here.

Woo hoo! If you only had Face Time we could talk to him.

This thread is way more fun than some of the others.

Wow, do some people work for living?

This dude is crazy, he is going to camp for 7-8 days and he is going to get his phone at 7:30am - 8:00am. Someone is going to show up at 11am and he may wait for only 10min and he is going to get the same phone with 10 minutes of wait.

If you show up at 11am you will wait longer than 10min.

lol is this a joke? Waiting in line is contributing more to society than sleeping in a bed or taking a shower? Really? Can you elaborate????

One could argue that you too are wasting valuble time by participating on these boards instead of "contributing to society". Why aren't you feeding the homeless or cleaning up animals affected by the gulf oil spill? There isn't a YMCA you can volunteer at? What the heck is the matter w/ you? PEOPLE IN AFRICA ARE STARVING! And you people are worrying about a damn phone! ;)

Nice guy, his name is Justin. He is unemployed and "disabled". (his words). Be nice guys.

Will post more later.

Are you jk or for real. Post few photos, do an interview with him. Did he reserve phone?

Radio stations here in Atlanta have done that in the past. They see who can camp out the longest and then give them a free whatever.

This guy will probably get invited to the next iphone 5 keynote speech. Steve will bring him up on stage and talk about how dedicated iphone fans are. Then tell him to get a life and boot him off stage.

You should have respect for everyone until something comes along and tells you otherwise. It's common courtesy to do that. I certainly wouldn't come up to you and start spitting in your face if I met you on the sidewalk now would I? Nope.

Just because YOU or someone else has a "busy" life or THINKS their life is busy, doesn't mean he or anyone else is the exact same. Some of us don't have kids or made up schedules that we need to follow. Some of us don't have wives ruling our day to day tasks. Some people are single and having fun with life. Some are married, have families and STILL have fun with life.

Why does anyone here need to be so damn judgmental. So what if he's camping out a week early. Would I do it? Hell no! Doesn't mean he's a bad person. Is he an attention whore? Who knows. Who cares. If he is having fun doing it - more power too him. He will meet people, good and bad and be PART of society.

Not sitting on a forum bitching about others even though the ones are bitching have a crap life and like to project their frustrations onto others.

Some of you should be smacked. I'm not talking a love tap, I am talking smacked - hard enough to give you a damn headache, turn your face red and make you wonder if you just skipped ahead 3 days in the week.

Bunch of hypocrites. May I remind you how many of you sorry asses were on here refreshing the hell out of Apples website trying to order? Complaining? Making threads whining? Yeah - how quickly you forget!
