For a second there I beleaved you when you said you would ****,, we can all dream

hmm, I'm not sure who has more 'hate', the folks questioning this silly kid, or all you people slamming us who DARE to call this whole thing silly!

Ok, I am gonna comment again, just to clarify.

I don't 'hate' Justin. What I do think is that he's a silly kid who's sitting on the sidewalk for a week for a consumer product. The fact that his completely non important act has genterated such a following of supporters is quite funny to me.
Exactly like that sequence in Forrest Gump, when Forrest starts walking cross country for no particular reason, and followers spring up ascribing all sorts of value and meaning to his endevour.

But maybe that's what this is all about, you all think this is kind of sweet, and silly, and funny to support this guy. Maybe you know it's silly, but that's part of the fun of it. Well, good for you then. Enjoy your little social drama piece. Like someone said before, this whole thing reads like a performance art piece, with everyone playing a part.

I just hope y'all don't think this is anything more than that, :)

Was it NECESSARY for Justin to line up a week early? No. But do I find it silly? Not at all.

The man has been first in line the previous two years and he had to decide when he should line up this year. In considering that goal, he decided that it would be FUN to make a full week out of it.

It's as simple as that. He picked a date and went with it. That's not silly, that's dedication to one's task.

I support his decision because it was HIS decision to make. And I support him here because reading his posts and watching his videos has convinced me his only motivation was to have fun.

And I'm sorry, but anyone and everyone that belittles his decision or questions his motives is a HATER. Saying he's silly is passing judgment on his decision. Passing judgment is a holier than thou attitude, and, in my opinion, that's a form of hate.

I feel the same Mark, and couldn't of put it finer myself.!

I 100% agree.

I have not commented up till now, but all the negative comments really get on my nerves. While I don't think that I would line up a week early, or even camp out, I see "fun" in it and feel that it's Justin's choice and right to do it if he wants.

What I don't get, is why make the effort to say something negative. It doesn't do anything but make you look like a HATER. What's that old addage that your mamma should have taught you...

"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

Justin, have fun. May seem crazy, but it's an adventure anyway you look at it. Just good clean fun!!!

I guess you have never done anything in your life that others would consider silly or stupid? Everybody no matter how cool and perfect you think you are has done things that others might consider silly... so sitting there on your computer passing judgement on this guy is not really cool. He's not breaking any laws and he's not hurting anybody least of you all you personally. I would personally never wait in line for any product not even an hour but does that mean I'm any better than Justin? No it doesn't because I'm certainly not perfect and like everyone else I'm sure I have quirks that others would find silly. And no I'm not slamming you for thinking he is silly just pointing out some obvious facts, unless of course you are the coolest individual on planet earth and everything you do is considered perfect by everyone.

So, no one is ever allowed to offer their opinion about someones behavior? And you all have never, ever in your life thought of someone - 'what a goofball', or 'I can't belive how silly that person is acting'.
We ALL pass judgement, it's in our nature. Those who think they don't are the ones who think hey are 'holier than thiu'.
I do think this whole affair is silly. Quite silly indeed.

I disagree, there's nothing harmful going on here.

Agreed. Has he murdered anyone? No. Has he stolen something? No. He isn't hurting anyone so why don't people step off*?

People say he is doing it for the attention. I don't recall the original story pointing Justin out that he was waving his arms wildly about yelling "Look at me!"

The story was pointed out, members of MR went to check on him. In my book, I see it as Texans taking care of Texans and the Apple community helping out another member of the extended family. People posted, Justin posted and a lot of other media outlets took notice. Justin could have told them to take a hike but he didn't. I think he has represented the definition of 'fanboi-ism' very admirably. He isn't hacking into some database or raving about conspiracies.

*step off: back away from a confrontation.

You have shared your opinions, thoughts, etc., more than what would be considered 'reasonable'. Yet, you continue to give negative, judgmental replies to anyone that challenges you. I guess that is your 'right'.

If you don't like how people respond to your comments stop replying or maybe, just stop reading this thread. Simple as that.

Well when you choose to voice those thoughts prepare to have people criticize your judgements even though they pass judgements themselves its just a vicious cycle which is human nature :p

You don't know him, so of course you do not hate him. You are just mean spirited. You probably are a straight and narrow sort that has never strayed from the road. Every forum needs someone like you so glad for your posts.

As even Justin has stated, it is definately your right to have your opinion and it's a free country so you can even share it freely.

The difference is that some of us were taught some manners growing up. It's very obvious in this forum that many others weren't. Whatever happened to kindness and decency? I see that it's not completely dead, but the internet has prove to be bastion for those that like to sit back on their high horse and under the guise of anonymity hurl their thoughtless hurtful judgements on others. Yet, if their lives were put under the microscope, I wonder how many of them would hold up?

Nicole,

Ask yourself.. If your brother did what Justin is doing (if you don't have a brother, pretend it was your best friend), and it was a popular topic here on MacRumors forum, would you come on here and tell everyone that you thought your brother (or friend) was acting silly? Or, would you think that quietly to yourself and support them with your silence?

Justin is doing NOTHING to harm you or anyone else. He is not breaking any laws. He's a fellow human being that deserves the same level of respect that you would give to a close member of your family or immediate friends. To treat him any differently than that is simply wrong.

Nobody's telling you that you aren't entitled to think it. It's just hateful to come on here -where Justin is participating- and say it.

Mark

You know what is really stupid? Doing something that you know will have a negative result, like feeding a troll. If someone joins a chat with the intention of insulting a complete stranger I should try harder to ignore them. I understand people have their points and if this was a debate about a future action (that had an effect on you)then opposing views would be appropriate. This is not the case. You are being insulting and feel justified in doing it. I think poker tournaments are stupid but I don’t go to them to insult the participants and demand they explain their actions and verify they can afford it. I just don’t go to them, very simple and stress free.

Anyway, getting excited, were in the home stretch. The group of people that are meeting at the FtWorth store is getting bigger, were going to hit up Fuzzys tacos and some local bars on Wed evening before getting in line for the next morning.

Justin, hope all is well with you. Do you have any fellow campers yet? Let me know if you need anything. I can pick it up on my way home from work and drop it off for you.

I haven't commented, and this will (hopefully) be my only comment of this nature.

Nicole, yes, most of us, at least I admit, do judge other people. But it's a matter of where and when. This site is for people who enjoy Apple products, and here iPhones. Most of us don't feel compelled to post negative comments about someone when there's no point or nothing to be gained by making such a post. Think of Justin as you will. But, do you really need to make that point (more than once)?

I'm sorry if I posted more times than u thought resonable. But, I have no problem with you all disagreeing with me. I just felt this whole affair had lost a little perspective.
Just as u ask 'why does anyone bother to bash this harmless kid?', others are asking 'why are some people getting so emotional in support of a kid whose sitting on the sidewalk for a week waiting for a consumer product?'
A nuetral observer might find both sides odd.
It's just I find it interesting that such a complete non-event has generated such emotion.
In saying the whole thing is silly I don't mean that in a mean-spirited way. It's just my honest gut reaction and that of many others for sure.
Your honest gut reaction is that I'm a jerk for sayng that.
I'm ok with that.
Now, i welcome u to blast back at me for writing again. I can take it.
It's a human nature thing, just like we get unreasonably pissed at the other person on the road who (accidently usually) cuts us off, we get unresonalby strong emotions online. What is that all about anyway?

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if we ever met in real life that we'd really like each other. You might even think I was 'hot' maybe... Lol (I've been told that a few times).
Peace..
