If anyone wants an update or cares: We drove by Knox Apple in Dallas about 3am and there are offically 3 people in line. Looks like another guy is camping out. He had a tent set up too and was sitting in a chair outside the tent reading..

Not enough people for us to start camping out tonight. Will keep tabs on the line tomorrow. SO HAPPY we did not start camping out Sunday.. I would have been pissed knowing only 3 people in line.. lol

I just got a note from a manager last night as they were closing that someone came by and told them they will be bring a large group with 20 more tents sometime Wednesday for the final push. As of right now there are 7 people in line with 3 tents.

Check for my updates I'm working on. They'll be up soon with some pictures.

The Final Countdown begins! Less than 24 Hours to Go!

Greetings everyone!

Sorry that it might have seemed I have not kept everyone as up-to-date as much would assume I would. There hasn't been much to report since the last one posted on Monday. Most has been the same until today.

As of right now, there are seven of us in line with 3 tents. I'v included some pictures with my post that shows us all enjoying the day. There will also be a larger group according to the store manager that will be here sometime soon that will be bringing 20 more tents. As times passes and people continue to line up, we will keep the party going and I will keep everyone updated as much as I can.

Tonight when the store closes to preparing for tomorrow's launch, I'll be switching all updates over to my main website since it is more difficult to post to the MacRumors forum. Especially when uploading photos.

Basically how the website post works is that I just take a photo, attach it to a email with written report and send it to the main website server. The server then posts the update to the website. The MacRumors website on the other hand is not as simple to use and doesn't allow you to upload photos from your phone.

What's also more is that the website allows it to become a central source for updates and for anyone to tune in for updates and also post comments and ask questions.

I will give a final update of MacRumors tonight before store closing and after that, all updates will be moved to the other website after that. Also keep in mind, I have not abandoned the forum and will be following the thread.

If you have any questions, comments or whatever, you are encourage to send them through the website.

Thanks for your understanding. I'll be in touch as the final countdown begins!
Justin

I got a email from Apple last night saying my iPhone would arrive early. I think they want them to arrive early so it doesn't overload their server when everyone is trying to activate them.

same here, got an email 2 days ago about my Phone arriving early, and i got it an hour ago at my Dallas office...

LOL...not a doctor. I have a pic in my profile as well. But yeah, in my late 30's. I can tell you for a fact that several people in this forum/thread are in their 30's and older.

Huh, do they know they are so close to death and or retirement? It's so nice being young. Just this morning I was looking at my face and grabbed my cheek. It stretched and then bounced firmly back into place like that terminator from terminator 2. I don't like to brag though.

Kidding!

On a serious note, now that I have a kid, my god I feel old. The years are flying by fast.

I don't think Justin did this to be the first with the iPhone -- he just enjoys the energy that goes along with an iPhone launch and wanted to be in the thick of it. He's like a cheerleader for Apple. He did the whole "camp out" thing for fun. Apple diffused a bit of that energy with the days-early ship date, but I don't see Justin grumbling about that -- he's not jealous or hating anybody for it. He's enjoying himself. It probably feels like Christmas Eve to him right now.

Thanks for the update Justin. Do we know if they all have reservations?

From what I have heard, I am still the only one right now in line with a reservation. The rest are those are who are here for the walk-in line.

Make no mistake! Just because you reserve a phone, it does not mean you can just walk in and pick it up! Although reserved phones will only be hold until end of the business day.

From what I have heard and from my experience over the years, if you have a reservation, you will be directed to the reservation line to wait for your turn like everyone else.

If you haven't reserved a phone, Apple Stores will have a extremely limited amount of phones available for walk-ins and it will be first come-first served. Since there are already 7 in line without reservations, your chances are going down rapidly as time passes. They will probably have a max of 25 extras available and walk-in's will be accepted at Apple Stores only for launch!

Thanks Justin. I'm hoping that while I may be behind those 26 other people, like last year, when they separate out the reservations I'll still be 5th in the reserved line. :)

I was planning on sleeping right after work and then coming out around midnight, but I forgot that I'm taking my little sister to see Wicked tonight. Sooooo....either I sleep out there on the sidewalk or I come in the early hours of the morning and hope that I'm not too far back in line.

While I can show up to work late, I shouldn't be too late or it'll just look bad.

Hmmmmm....I may be coming down with something...**cough**cough**

Edit: You need the iPhone 4 so you can take better quality pics! :)

Are you changing your mind now that you have read the latest update from Justin???

Yes!!! Time for a parteeee!!! Are they people that you have met from other launches?

What are you going to do in the morning? Do people leave their tents up while they are in the store getting their phone, or does everything have to be taken down and stored?

BTW - as for me - I have decided that I am going to wait for the white.... Everytime I take a look at it, I really like it. And 1 month isn't too long to wait....

Line Continues to Grow Rapidly as of 2:30pm

Just little over a hour ago I posted a update about the line a how the updates will be transferred to my main website.

Earlier there were just seven in line and with three tents. Since that time, the number in line has doubled to fourteen in line and Apple has now started setting up barricades.

Here is a updated pic.

What would be cool is if they logged in and posted what phone they are getting (16GB or 32GB) and if they have a reservation or not.

They all know that White won't be an option, right?

I'm gonna have to seriously re-think arriving at the Apple Store at 3 a.m. I might have to go even earlier now.

The manager said I'm still the only one in line for reservation, I know that will change as time goes by.

I told them all about statement from Apple about the whole deal for the white models. They're all getting black.

it'd be funny if he sold his spot in line....lol.

At least one person in line is a paid line holder.

Oh..someone did offer $ for his place in line. He turned him down. The number I heard was $2000, but that may have been joking around.

Line keeps going, and going, and going...

Line continues to keep growing more rapidly as evening hours approach.

As of 5:30pm CT there are around 40 in line. Get this. Someone even brought a swimming pool and people are enjoying relaxing by skinny dipping. Tonight is going to be one wild party!

Mean while, the Southlake Store has over 100 in line already according to a report from a store manager.

I will give a final update on here around 8:30pm CT. After that, when the store closes to prepare for the night, all updates will be posted on my website for full of coverage this event. The link is www.iPhoneFirstInLine.com
