I waited in line for the iPad 2 for 9 hours and that was way too much. It was a fun experience, but I don't think I'd ever do that again. I can't imagine waiting in line for as long as these people though.

I also waited in line for 5 hours to pick up my pre-ordered iPhone 4 at an Apple store.... 5 hours to pick up a phone...... 5 hours....

I'm just gonna wait for the iPhone 10

Its called wealth maybe you will have it some day. :D

actually, a lot of those clowns sell their spots on the line when the sales start to make a few hundred dollars. why? because they don't have real jobs. not a single wealthy person would stand/sit/sleep on that line.

I handle the phones and computers at my company, and any time a new phone or tablet or anything shinny comes out, the executives task me with getting it for themselves and their kids and sugar babies. I had to stay up late to pre order 17 iPhones. Some from Apple but mostly from Verizon.

So you see, wealthy people don't wait online like morons, as you suggest. they have people on payroll, like myself, who will fetch what they need. Wealthy people are too busy cheating on their wives and making more money to be standing online. Something you know nothing about.

The cool thing is I always get toys for free :) I owned every ipad, galaxy tab, and every shinny apple and premium android phone there is. and I charged it all to the company's AmEx. i have 4 phones on my desk right now, lol

Wow! I was prepared to stand in line from thursday night in Hong Kong. Maybe that won't be enough? Crazy world ....

I pre-ordered one in the UK. Through the Apple store app. Question.... if I am paying the full price for the phone (which shows in the order confirmation), will it indeed be unlocked?

I did not notice any option for choosing a carrier when ordering. This is fine by me, I wanted the phone unlocked anyway.

Thanks for any help.

I ordered mine roughly 10 minutes after they went on sale and both report as preparing for shipment. UPS shows they have created a label for my packages but nothing more. I know every year people hope UPS will slip up and deliver the phones early.

Most of these guys are probably getting paid but if theyre not it's all good too!! I mean it's their life, they can do with it as they please. Some people can probably preorder but maybe they choose this instead cuz it might be fun to them!!
Woz does it all the time because he says he likes it and meets cool people that's what it's mostly about. And scalpers, can't forget scalpers lol

I got in line for the original iPhone about 12 hours early and actually had a blast waiting. It was a very cool environment with all different types of people. AT&T even provided us with some donuts and coffee when the store opened. With the supply Apple provides these days I wouldn't camp out, it is easier online, but if you have never gone and waited in line for a few hours I would recommend doing it at least once just for the experience.

I totally agree. I waited for the iPad2 and it was great meeting tons of people looking to have fun waiting too.

Every iPhone release eventually ships.
Where's the news or rumours here?
Yet another page hit whoring article.

The news is that the phones have started shipping. As for the rumors, the even releasing the majority of the rumors from the past months just took place. Give it a few days. It's like going to nfl.com three days after the super bowl and not understanding why they would have new articles relating to the game.

The rediculous thing is that my one is shipping from China - to the UK - only to get delivered right back again. It's going to have clocked up quite a carbon footprint before it's even in my hands!

Don't worry, I doubt there was a special flight made just for your phone.

I'm hear on 5th ave and I'm not being paid. Do I have a life???

Yes, of course you do. Waiting in line for an iphone is a spiritual pilgramage. It's an experience you'll never forget for the rest of your life. ;)

That was one of the interesting parts of the article which wasn't really explained. What kind of 'promotional/paid purposes' Arn, if you don't mind me asking?
They are place holders who sell their spot in line.
You pay a service to stand in line for you until they make it to the front.

yes, all phones direct from Apple in the UK are unlocked.

What about the other guys

So these guys get to do a once in a life time stupid thing and getting paid. Whatever..

As someone who waited 12 hours in line for the iPhone 4 I can tell you that it's not fun, but it is an experience. I'll always remember that day and the friends I made in line actually haha. But I only did it because I missed my window of opportunity to preorder in time and didn't know about the in store pick up option.

BTW if you're thinking of waiting in line and you didn't do a preorder with in store pick up, the way it works is they do 10 preorder sales for every non preorder. The will move PAINFULLY slow. So, it's dumb to wait in line without preorder and doing in store pick up if you don't want to wait 2-3 weeks for delivery.
