whats revolutionary? fingerprint button to just unlock ur phone?

Ugh.
It's not just for unlocking the phone. It's also used for installing apps, buying music, buying videos, buying books, and any other time you encounter "enter Apple ID password".

First Reviews huh ?

This is just based on their view not YOUR view. So, i take any review with a grain of salt.

I think it will take time for me to get used to the "Lauchpad style transparency: look of iOS7.

that's why i have download restore of current iOS :) So i can down-grade, if I don't like it. Plus, you don't need to actually install it, just download it.

Just wait, hundreds will complain the sensor doesn't work when it's launched, "Finger Gate" prompts Jonny Ive to reply, "You're holding it wrong". :p

I LOLed, proving that even a cliche can have a second life when employed cleverly. Nicely done

Touch ID is a real advance in phones. But people put Apple in such a pedestal that every iteration of the iPhone in their eyes must be groundbreaking. It's a 5S, what do people want? That hologram keyboard?

Tea, Early Grey, hot.

My biggest complaint about iOS 7 is the Folders, I can't stand only seeing 9 icons on my iPhone 5 screen, let alone my huge iPad screen. They should have made it 12, its a waste of space to only show 9 and makes it harder to find apps your looking for. And like I said on the iPad screen it just looks horrible!! This needs to get fixed Apple!!

"...and rock-solid fingerprint sensor !!"

Apple iPhone fingerprint scanner it start to raises security worries already...while the iPhone's fingerprint readings would only be stored on the device and not on centralized servers, cyber attackers who compromise a smartphone through malicious applications could still be able to access the biometrics.

The so called secure enclave is at chip level. The theoretical cyber attacker would not only need to breach iOS (which hasnt happened in practice), but somehow get past hardware level security.

If you consider that a worry, then theres many more likely and catastrophic events which could happen to you each day that you should be worried about. Like being struck twice by lightning.[/QUOTE]
It is funny that people who currently use no security or inferior security on their phone are complaining about the security of the fingerprint scanner. Either people are just automagically hating everything or else they really don't understand the benefits of the fingerprint scanner in context. The scanner is a huge security upgrade for pretty much everyone who will use it.

I know people want to think the NSA and Russian hackers give two flips about hacking into THEIR phone, but that is not the case. For almost everyone it is a massive upgrade in security tied to a huge upgrade in efficiency and convience. It is a pretty remarkable achievement.

Certainly not on the level of tracking your eyes watching a video, lol, or waving your hand an inch over the phone instead of on it, lmao, but it is still up there.

That's design over function. I get the idea that they want the same 9 icons in the folder to "zoom in" and occupy the full screen. But that's a huge waste of screen space.

No they won't be a 'must have'. For me any device that scans my fingerprints and stores them is a 'must not have'. If this becomes standard on all iPhones then I'll move to a different platform. If it becomes standard on all smart phones, then I'll just go back to an old Nokia. Having the security services getting hold of my personal data is one thing (and it will happen), but having hackers get it would be catastrophic.

Clearly you do not understand the technology and this will become standard over the next three years.

Well if he's being presumptuous then so are you - I've had iPhones since the 3G and have never used a pin, not because I'm lazy but because I don't really need to - I'm not a retard and go waving my phone around in Subways, I keep it in my front pocket where no-one has yet attempted to take it, I'm perfectly capable of looking after it without needing to worry about securing it so I don't.

So if you got the iphone 5s that means you wouldn't activate the fingerprint sensor or use a password? I find that hard to believe.

You're right. Apple got it right by going for TouchID first, THEN NFC.

NFC will become big when Apple releases it in 2014, and all the Android fans will claim 'but we had it first'. Yes, they had it first, but a bad implementation of it. Apple is the one to get it right.

Apple isn't going to implement NFC, their focus is on ibeacon, which in 3 years time will make NFC completely irrelevant.

The iPhone 5s battery is bigger and provides the same or better life than the 5. Read the reviews and stop trolling.

Let's have a civil conversation. No one is wasting time here for no reason. Ppl are passionate about what they buy and would always push companies to do better. Apple is no different.

They didn't change the dimension but bumped up everything else which would take more battery. Something is got to give.

S series has always been a trap. Fp sensor is the only promising innovative move which is commendable on Apple's part for the bold move, but we wont see the benefits for some time. I think when 6 comes out, it will be primetime. But for 5S, lets not be too blind to ignore the obvious issues.

I can guarantee that after time passes after buying 5s ppl will start complaining about battery. In my view this is the single biggest worry for 5s.

So what are you gaining in reality from the 5? A fingerprint sensor won't affect me since I don't use a pin, better camera is ok but expected and the existing one is fine too, speed won't be noticeable on most apps as the 5 never feels slow. I don't see what people can get that excited about, sure it's an upgrade but the more I think about how I use my phone the less I think I'd notice much.

The fingerprint sensor is a huge benefit to people who don't currently use a pin

Ya that FIRST EVER IN THE WORLD 64 Bit Processor in a phone is so not innovative.

Are people's memory so bad that they forgot about Siri? Every new iphone release has a new "innovative" feature that is buzzed about, used for a few months, then forgotten about. The iTouch is the new Siri. Sorry to rain on people's parade, but a little reality check once in a while is a good thing. A little of me actually died when I read reviews praising the 5s' spec bump (faster processor and better camera) as amazing when all new phones have spec bumps, and these same reviewers call spec bumps just more of the same for any other phone. In fact, they sometime go out of their way to state that the speed increase isn't noticeable in real life. But when it the iphone, it's the new slice bread. The iphone is a great phone, don't get me wrong. But lets not go crazy, and call it innovative when its not.

If you think the fingerprint sensor is like Siri, you do not get it at all.

Appears to be the fastest phone on the market when it hits the street and it still needs doubled cores and more RAM?

The speed increase is crazy in those charts. I have a 4S and it gets murdered by this new 5S. I can't wait to try one out.

Same here.

I will try one out in the store against my 4S and I'll give it 3 to 4 months after that when they are quietly launching a 128GB version.
Plenty of supply then and kinks worked out.

Experienced Apple consumers know to wait until more reviews are in and not only the rah , rah type reviews.

"Their" view is no less real or important than "Your" view. They are no less human than you are so when multiple hands-on reviewers are saying great things about this phone I am inclined to take their word for it. Apple is not in the position as Microsoft is right now where they are scraping the bottom of the barrel resulting to pathetic sales tactics and all but paying reviewers to say something positive. Not saying they do that, but I wouldn't put it past them. ;)

I'm guessing that quite a few people will get and hang onto the 5S as it may be the last version in this physical size and many people don't want to go 'bigger' (if rumours of a larger screen next year are true) so may get this latest A7 processor phone and keep it for longer than they normally would.

I'm not sure why Apple would feel the need to kill one size phone just because a newer size phone is coming out. Personally, I would like to see the 4s be around for a long time. Apple could of produced a "new" 4S this time around with a lightning port and maybe a small bump in performance. As you mention, not everyone wants the same device and one size does not fit all....

I would buy a more modern 4S right now. Unlike others, I view the availability of multiple updated devices to be a plus, not a negative.

I think people get it just fine. Wasn't this the argument about Siri? Plenty of people considered Siri a gimmick and or of limited value (to them) and were told on here that they clearly didn't understand Siri and how powerful it was, etc.

The fingerprint scanner is a very nice feature. And it will make some things easier. But it's not going to "change everything." It will change a few things. Right now - it's convenience. Which to some might be everything. But to others - just another feature on a phone that can do a lot more.

If you watch most people's use of their phone, it is one handed. If you are walking through the mall with a Starbucks in your hand, dragging a suitcase through the airport, pushing s shopping cart, driving (I know, we shouldn't, but lets get real) . . . . I only use a second hand if needed, even if my second hand is free.

Okay, I did not say that you couldn't or shouldn't use the phone one-handed.

People are using their Galaxy S3's to do the examples you mention. Having a larger screen clearly does not stop you from using the phone that way.

But Apple uses the paradigm that the iPhone is designed with one-handed use in mind, and that is their justification for a small screen.

One handed use is meant to be secondary...you're not really supposed to be walking, driving, or be in motion while staring at a device who's main source of input is something you have to look at. That's a good way to get run over.

So, if I need to read, a bigger screen is better. If I want to watch a movie, or type an email, or play a game, yes. A bigger screen is easier to see. If I need to use the phone one-handed, I could.

But with Apple, I end up using my phone two-handed a lot, because the small screen forces me to zoom and scan more than I would with a larger screen.

Yes, Touch ID is a real advance for the NSA. (Don't be naive and believe the company statements. The Yahoo director have said to the media, that for companies to criticize the NSAs procedures publically is akin to treason and punishable with prison.
