It's a Samsung S4 on the Picture.

As I wrote, this is a 5 inch phone still smaller than a 4.7 inch iPhone.

And that goes for all the other devices on the market, they all have bigger screens and are still smaller.

4.7-inch iPhone 6, 5-inch Galaxy S4 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6.

Ahh, so you are comparing an older phone instead of the S5. The S5 IS larger than the 6. And I guess the larger question is - so what?????

Dude, that's not a cargo aircraft. That's a passenger-carrying A380. As far as I know, Airbus has not made a cargo variant of the A380 yet.

Dude, airlines carry an immense amount of cargo in the underbellies of passenger aircraft. Many airlines operate full air cargo divisions without a single dedicated cargo aircraft. Even FedEx has been talking about buying space on passenger carrier's planes to transport lower priority international shipments at a cost less than operating their own aircraft.

In your defense, the A380 has a more limited cargo capacity with typical passenger loads than planes such as the 777 and 747. But I can guarantee that the pictured plane, as well as every other A380 flying, is carrying cargo unrelated to its passenger load.

Do they ship cargo on A380's?

Probably not for such a large shipment, no. China Southern Cargo (as a separate business unit from the passenger airline, pictured) would have its own fleet of cargo planes, that look something like this:

However, passenger aircraft do transport cargo containers all the time. Here in Phoenix, there's a daily British Airways flight to London (our only intercontinental air service). Its a passenger 747, but it makes more money on the cargo pallets below-decks, which carry Intel processors, Honeywell electronics, Raytheon equipment, and out-of-season produce like lettuce over to London.

I don't understand the need for cases. I've had my iphone 5 naked for 2 years. Looks great. And I've even dropped it a few times.

Isn't the whole case thing left over from the antenna problem when Apple gave out those free bumper cases?

Unless you are maybe a construction worker an need to use the phone outdoors all the time or at job sites, don't see the need for a case.

And supposedly the iphone 6 has even stronger glass or whatever, so it should be more resistant to cracks.

Is there anything else that people buy and instantly buy something else to cover it? I don't get it?

I put my 5S in the black apple leather case, without a screen protector. Its a little more comfortable to hold that way, since the leather is softer and a little more grippy than bare aluminum. Plus, the slight "lip" of the case that is raised up around the screen protects it from scratches if I want to lay it face down (like on my desk or at a table when talking to someone, as a gesture of "I'm not looking at my phone right now")

A380 Cargo

That's a photoshop job. No cargo airlines operate an A380, because a cargo variant, the A380F, hasn't even been produced.

If they don't buy freighter aircraft new, most cargo airlines like Fedex and UPS like to buy older, somewhat worn-out passenger aircraft and convert them to freighters (you can tell if you see painted-over windows on the side). But the A380 certainly hasn't been out long enough for it to enter the secondhand market that Fedex likes to pick from.

Not at all.

This is news you can use. When your tiny shipment from Amazon is delayed, you'll know that the 10 million iPhones that Apple is shipping are probably at least a contributing factor.

I very very much doubt Apples Huge shipment deliveries in the USofA will remotely affect my 1 day delivery from Amazon... especially as it doesn't ship till next week.

For those who are curious about the China Southern Airlines freighter

Folks,

For the sake of curiosity, I think most of us know the photo used here by Macrumors is not intended for reporting the exact China Southern Airlines aircraft but rather for reference only. If you want to find out the more likely one, why not click on the Chinese article in the link... http://news.ccaonline.cn/Article/2014-09-11/381639_1.shtml

Zoom in for the Tail number: B-2073, a Boeing 777-200 series freighter in the China Southern Cargo livery...

http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?regsearch=B-2073

Then look up the flights of the B-2073 would list a two-leg flight from Zhengzhou to Anchorage, Anchorage to Chicago on the 10th...

Define smaller... they are wider, lot thicker and Heavier.

Interesting, because before Apple announced larger iPhones - this is what you wrote.

Before I had an HTC One, sure. After, I completely changed my mind. I still don't want or need a thinner phone. I'd take a 10mm thick one if it got better battery life.

The most interesting thing to me about this article is that China Southern flies A380's.

UK people, does anyone know how long preorders usually last, there's no way I'm getting my envirofone payment by 8am tomorrow, which is an absolute ****ing disaster, but I need to know if I'll still be able to preorder maybe even 2 or 3 days after preorders have launched, if not I guess I'll have to wait months until any Apple stores get stock back in

The pre-order lasts until inventory is gone. It could be 48 hours, it could be 12 hours. As inventory becomes tight, the delivery/shipping dates get pushed further and further out, until they have none in stock at all.

Yes we know. But for those of us airline geeks here too, its not just the aircraft but also the airline (China Southern Cargo is not equivalent to China Southern passenger airline).

It would be sort of like writing an article about the iPhone 6 being released on AT&T, but showing a stock photo of a iPhone 4S on Verizon to illustrate the article. :D

Apple must be really pulling their weight around with "all other shipments on hold till us Apple fans get the iPhone 6"

More money either way :)

Those workers can take a much needed time off. They deserve it.

Ok, this is a new paparazzi low, photographing the plane where the iPhone travels? Whats next, nude pallets?

Thanks for the mockup links. But one handed use isn't impossible. iOS has gesture (swipe) based navigation for back and forward and close.

Here's a printable mockup.

http://appleinsider.com/articles/14...cker-can-help-you-choose-the-right-size-model

One handed use is now impossible with 4.7 and 5.5 versions of the iPhone.

Because Apple iOS puts the main buttons like "back" and "close" always at the top of the screen, often on the left side - which is unreachable with the thumb.
The new iOS 8 feature where the screen content lowers (if you double tab the home button) is even more cumbersome.

Android has a huge plus in that regard because the back button is at the bottom of the screen - always reachable.

Apple has to change that in future iOS versions.

"land on U.S" soil, almost sounds like the Ambassador is coming.

I better get ready.

Its only a new phone, not London's Big Eye.
