It may not fit in your pocket but it may fit in other people's pockets.

People on here focus too much on what they want and fail to acknowledge what others want.

The iPhone 6 5.5 would only be marginally bigger than the Note 3, in recent years there has been phones bigger than it that have fit into people's pockets.

If the 5.5 is not for you then simply don't get it.

The problem is choice. I don't want to be forced to buy the 5.5" screen size just to get the latest internal hardware.

I really hope apple doesn't go to these ridiculous 400-500+ pip screens people are talking about on this thread.

even 1080p on a smartphone is way overkill. I don't understand why people want it and why people are talking about 2560x1440, and 2272x1280 resolutions...

For HD video on the go....

Imagine going from a 3.5 to a 5.5. If anyone was still rocking the old screen.

I love my 3.5" iPhone 4. I know it's wishful thinking, but I would love to see a return the its form and design. I love the glass back compared to the aluminum backing of current phones. I love the size and the resolution. I have done some in-store comparisons between my phone, current iPhones, and different sizes of android phones, and while the larger models are okay, in a larger iPhone I would like to see a proportionate increase in resolution--I don't need bigger icons and I loathe the increase in height.

New,Larger Size for iPhone

:):)I have to ask everyone, why the big deal with such concern about the next iPhone? Everyone knows that a new one will be coming out yearly. For those that use one, they know the expectations of what an iPhone will and will not do. So, really. Who cares of what a mockup or casting looks like? Did an engineer sneak out of Apple one day while at lunch and take those pictures or did they come from China, same situation? In my business, people lose jobs for doing such things. Really, Apple fanboys... Enjoy your summer, get away from your screen, and enjoy life. The iPhone 6 ( in whatever size), will be here soon enough. Relax!:D:eek:

I LOVE LOVE all the people who have never had a touch screen device with NO bezels, yet think they'd be able to use one without issues IF ONLY someone (Apple) would make one!

LMAO!

People need to remember that higher res screen requires more powerful GPU to be able to render things at the same frame rate. I think Apple learned a lesson or two when they made the iPad 3, thus now they seem to be more conservative in screen resolution, while pumping up their GPU continuously.

I welcome larger phones, and personally, I want Apple to just go all the way and put a phone inside the iPad mini. However, I wonder how Apple is going to spin the one-handed usage thing that they boasted during the iPhone 5 release.

Or, maybe the large screen one is for the new iPod Touch? "The best portable gaming system with the largest screen, bigger than the PS Vita." A stretch, but the iPod Touch does need some significant refresh now.

How much more powerful has the GPU gotten since the A4 chip in the iPhone 4? Probably 8-10x. They can afford to up the resolution.

What will probably happen is that this grotesquely sized iPhone that not many seem to want will probably turn out to be the most barnstorming iPhone release yet, further confirming Jobs' famous "people don't know what they want until you show it to them.”

this iphone will be bigger in dimensions than Note 3..so keep that in mind. I would loved a 5.5" iphone but not that big
Once people decide to go big, it doesn't matter anymore because the phone is not intended for 1 hand use anyway.

That means it will sell then! Woohoo. Haters gonna hate bruh, theres a lot of people who want the choice. I could careless. Unless maybe if I had some stock in Apple then I might be a little bit concerned. :D

I am hoping the 4.7inch phone and 5.5inch phones have the same resolution, with different ppi. like the iPads.

and the 5.5inch phone can have something with a ppi around 275-350.
and the 4.7inch phone can have something with a ppi around 326-375.

It is possible though they will have the same ppi on both of them, and a different resolution.

I just hope they don't have different resolution and pip

I am also curious about the naming of these phones... will it just be the 4.7 iPhone 6 and the 5.5 iPhone 6?

How do you know 1080p is overkill? I've owned the Note 2 with a 720p for a year and I currently own a Note 3 with a 1080p display. I would never go back to a 720p display when the screen size is 5.5" plus. You can differently tell the difference. The performance of the Note 3 is better and the battery is just as good.
I wish people stop talking out of their butts without any real experience. Now I will agree that anything over 1080p may be overkill but as long as the chipset and battery can handle it I have no issues. It's why I'm skipping the LG G3 and waiting for the fall lineup.

And suddenly, one hand use became useless, as Apple fans around the world supported Apple's decision to sell a bigger iPhone than ever.

Last time I used HTC One and it was still okay for 1 hand use, so the 4.7" iPhone still means for that. 5.5" version just gives people a choice like those NBA players...

Cannot wait.

I recently switched to a GS5 because I was having problems reading the screen with my 5S. I cannot wait until the I6 5.5 is released. That will be my dream phone.

Around 40x since iPhone 4 :)

Wow. Yeah I don't get why people worry about upping resolution. They could probably double both again and with the new A8 they wouldn't drop a single frame. (not saying I want them to btw)

On the desktop too. We've had 2560x1440 for what, 8 years? GPUs are vastly more powerful and some people don't want to go retina on Apple's displays. I say bring it on.

Worst leak ever! This too embarrassing for Apple that I can feel the shame as a fan. What would it for 3 BFF exec team be like?

Are you saying that the 5.1" on the Galaxy S5 is too small to read? Or do you mean the screen quality sucks? And if you mean screen quality it's been ranked as having one of the best screens on the market.

http://www.oled-info.com/displaymat...utperforming-all-previous-oled-and-lcd-panels

I just don't think you like Android which is fine because if size is what you're looking for you have many options up to 6". The S5 beats my Note 3 display and to me my Note 3 screen is beautiful. It could be just a little brighter in sunlight but it's a huge improvement over the Note 2. And just wait and see how large a 5.5" iPhone is against a S5. You're already in Note 3 territory because of those bezels. I personally love large phones and don't care what anyone thinks. It's better than carrying around a iPad and a small phone.
I love Android but I'm pumped to see Apple finally come to their senses and release a large phone. Give people what they want!!!

Gotcha.

But theoretically... if a phone did not have a Quad HD display... would it survive in today's market?

We're gonna find out.

It probably will just like every other budget phone. In Android world, 1080P is standard for flagship phone and Quad HD phone is new standard for new flagship. Apple could probably get away with lower resolution screen, but think about it, iPhone 5's screen is sub 720p. Even 720P videos will down sampled to iPhone's native resolution, it is kind sad in 2014 standard.

I mean, there is always someone willing to push the technology to the limit, maybe will scarifies something (i.e. battery life, performance), but it is still better than not trying. If nobody willing to try, we might still stuck with sub 480P right now.

At this stage, it could be a panel from many, many other manufac. ;)
PS; Wake me up when the REAL thing will appear ;)

On a pragmatic note, this isn't even a leak.

It's a dude in care with a ruler and panel. That's it. It's an Oppo product for all we know.

While I want the 5.5" rumor to be true, I'll wait and see before getting too excited. It's certainly what I would prefer.

I have argued repeatedly that a 5+ inch phone would be too big and Apple wouldn't do it. But I'm fascinated to see how Apple addresses the size problem in a human way.

I'm starting to come around to the idea that this will be a fantastic option for consumers because Apple will bring enough innovation to the table to make this work.

Maybe Apple can fit a 5.5" screen in a phone the same size as the 5S. That would be innovation.

Leak a 4-inch part, please. So far, it almost looks as if there won't be one for people who like to keep their phones in their pockets.

Can't say I like 3.5" better than 4", but yeah, the iPhone 4 is so much more beautiful on the back. I don't care about how my black iPhone 5 looks, but honestly, the back of it is ugly. It also gets scratched up because it's non-glossy aluminum. Still looks nicer than the cheap copy phones, but not by much and not really Apple quality. There's no white option, just grey. The white iPhone 5C actually looks good.

4" still fits in the hand and pocket the same as 3.5". Not so with these new ones that are going to be wider.

Will be interesting to see how the 4.7" compares to my Nexus 5 size wise. Those iPhone bezels do add a lot of size.

Still not sure I guess if a 5.5" one exists? We have all seen it before where a product is rumoured but no real evidence exists, and low and behold it turns out said rumoured device doesn't exist when Apple never announced it.

We will see I guess.

when will this bi-annual enlargement of phones stop?

Maybe 5.5 is the upper limit because since the introduction of Galaxy Note 2 at 5.5, we haven't seen any larger phones become popular.

The Note series is popular because it packs many features including s-pen, top notch hardware and it's available everywhere. No one has been able to touch it. If the HTC Max (a 6" phone) matched it's capabilities including s-pen it would still be relevant. Don't blame it all on size. The screen, build quality and boom sound is excellent on the HTC Max. Using a slower cpu, only 2 gigs of ram, non-removable battery and lack of availability on carriers made it a average phone.
