Actually, there are audiophile reviewers on headset sites that have turned around completely lately on Beat (they had trashed their earlier headsets); so you are wrong.

So true about that. You'll have many audiophiles that won't buy them because of the stigma that they're awful and of course the connection with Dr. Dre. and company.

Leaving from being under the umbrella of Monster was a good thing!

Personally I'm not a fan of Bluetooth headphones. The compression is too noticeable and the setup is annoying. Not to mention it's yet another thing to charge.

Stick to my plug in cans. ATH-M50X's

I bought Parrot Zik, Sony MDR-1RBT and Logitech UE9000's, tried them all side-by side for a month, returned the ones I didn't like.

Zik's look great and have a fantastic touch interface, but the battery life is extremely poor and the DSP way too heavy making the music sound synthetic, also they acoustically transmit loud footstep noise too much when walking.

Sony's had great battery life, very light, but no active noise cancellation and too much mid-range, they also have the habit to catch wind in the vents which makes a noise. If it wasn't for the oppressive mids, these were the best, despite the lack of sound cancellation.

The UE9000's destroyed both the Zik's and Sony's on sound quality, brining all types of music to life with a nice tight bass that's very present without being oppressive. They had a decent and non-intrusive active noise cancellation and the battery life was decent, but they are very heavy, and the controls could be more intuitive.

I stuck with the UE's for the sound...

I actually didn't mind the sound of my Ziks, but you're right about the battery life. I was totally sold on the touch features so the battery didn't bother me as much and the fit for me was very comfortable.
Also I did try a pair of Harmon Kardon, but BT connection was total garbage.

I'm hoping that the battery life on Ziks 2.0 will be much better.

He must have been wearing them wrong.

On a serious note why would anyone wear these gigantic "fashion" focused over-ear headphones at the gym?

The gym is a place for people who work out to look sexy naked and these people like to show off that they have money/ good looks. Basically, it gets them laid if they flaunt. Try it!

I'm really happy that these can be used like standard wired headphones when the battery needs recharging.

Build quality is top notch and it folds into a small package. Excellent travel headphones.

I have M50x. Excellent headphones, but a bit on the large side for travel.

Beats decided to use something subpar? No way! :D

If you're referring to not using aptX, that decision probably has something to do with Apple not supporting it for iOS. Apple does support the codec in OSX however.

If you're referring to the solo 2 materials, it seems reviews have been almost universally positive about the construction of the cans and, surprisingly, about the sound as well... even over at head-fi in their forums.

Can you honestly tell the difference between a compressed mp3 streamed via SBC vs Apt-X?

I've tried it and they sounded the same to me.

Now the last NIN album that had a lossless digital master. THAT I could hear the difference on a good wired pair of headphones. Music sounded spatially wider. But overall at the end of the day to an average person I don't think Apt-X makes any significant difference.

Not a chance when there are far better quality phones out there. Read some reviews. As M.J. used to sing, "Beat it!"

If Beats were reasonably priced these would be a good pair of $150 headphones with the wired version being $99.

I'm not sure why I'd want to pay $300 for headphones, then again I can't ever hear the difference between a cheap pair of headphones and a high end one.

I'm no Beats fan either but for $300 wireless headphones I'd sure like you to name a few "FAR BETTER" quality wireless headphones.

I can name you a better pair of wireless headphones for $160 dollars; Sony's MDR-XB950BT.

It even has a bass boost on the headphones themselves for the basshead in you. They just came out and are probably on the level of the Beats Studios sans noise canceling (in terms of "class" not Sound Quality, these are better in SQ). The are also OVER the ear for more comfort and the padding is super soft. These blow any pair of Beats headphones out of the water for MUCH less money.

The Sony MDR-10RBT retails for $200. While not a Bass headphone they have a clean neutral sound and are very light and also over the ear. I'd liken them to a Grado SR-80 with a tinge more bass. Owned a pair for about 9 months. Sold them cause I bought the XB950BT.

For an On Ear pair of headphones which is equivalent to a Solo2 Wireless there are the MDR-BTN200 You can find them for well under $100 bucks. They aren't bass heavy but have a 40 hour battery life. Generally neutral sounding a flat but as far as for the $ well more worth it than the Solo2. Still have these. They are my kicker BT headphones for running. I think I've charged them 3 times in the last year I've owned them.

Jabra REVO Highly rated BT headphone, Great bass clean sounds. Only $150. Never owned these, always wanted a pair. Reviews on them are really positive.

Would you like me to go on?

Have you actually listened to the Audiophile Hesitation Marks album??? It's total BS and was called out on it within days of it's release! There is a very small difference between the "Standard" Version and the so called "Audiophile Master" with both still being Loud with very little Dynamic Range.

Granted regular bluetooth or Apt-X there's virtually no difference either... still too much lossy compression!
