I never would've thought that I would see the day that people would become fanboys/fangirls of wireless phone providers.

Wow... just... wow.

I think what really caused the appearance of "wireless provider fanboys/fangirls" was AT&T's exclusivity with the iPhone. Before the iPhone, I don't think it really existed.

Many people -- I can say that I am one of them -- are very loyal to their wireless provider because they are satisfied with the service. Leaving the provider for the phone just wasn't a reasonable option. Now that the exclusivity has ended and the phone is available on Verizon, opinions are becoming louder than ever before regarding the providers.

All of these years, AT&T has been criticized for its reception woes with the iPhone (whether or not you believe these are present is another story). But now that the phone will be available on two networks, people on both sides of the argument are waiting to prove the other group wrong. (i.e. "Verizon is having just as many problems as AT&T has," or "Verizon is the stronger network. Look at how it's handling this increased traffic!")

Awesome ad.

All the haters going "omg I can't talk on while im on teh internets" can go smack themselves. That is NOT a good feature, who cares. I sure as crap don't go browsing on the internet while on a call. That is, if I EVER even make a call? Grow up. Go on the internet then make a call or vice versa. Geez.

What is there to even argue about? This was just an average commercial, it wasn't bad nor good. It just seems like the rest of many mediocre commercials I see on a daily basis.

Anyone saying this was great is a fanboy, anyone saying it was terrible is a fanboy.

I have no intention of switching to Verizon. Where I live, Verizon service is all but useless. (I would like to try their FIOS someday.) The commercial was quite good if you understand what they were trying to do.

For the third time, Orly? I hade a 98 Ford Taurus with power windows. Now, I have a 06 Aveo and it has regular windows. It's not a big deal. In fact, I like the manual windows more, because I don't have to take the car to a mechanic whenever the motor would die. (The Taurus has to be taken in about 5 times before I got the new car to get the windows fixed.)

Maybe it's not power windows that are a problem. Maybe it's the fact you had a Ford Taurus? :p

I thought it was pretty cool for what it was ... a commercial.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: A network’s coverage, performance and reliability vary greatly depending on region - there is no exception to that. If AT&T provides good service for your needs, great. If Verizon provides good service for another's needs, wonderful. Use the provider that is good for you and forget about what anyone else thinks.

I'm not familiar with Verizon ads in general but this one really sucked. Just made me mad as hell about the wait. Must be some retards who approved this ad.

Forget the TV ads. Check out the Verizon website.

Look! They have 3 kinds of phones!

:D Boy, how'd you like to be a Blackberry, Android, or Windows phone manufacturer right now? That's gotta make you feel great to see that on their main page.
Great pickup!

(There's phones, "smartphones" and then there's the... ..iPhone. Pretty much does say it all.)

The points behind the add were.

1. An announcement. There is a small portion of the United States population that does not visit MacRumors. They need to know.

2. Build excitement in those who were looking forward to the Verizon iPhone launch. You want them to be excited because you want them to all go out and purchase on the first day of availability. You would prefer them to be standing in line for a week.

This add accomplished both goals and did it well. (I am not sure about the standing in line bit.)

you've obviously never been to howardforums.com and its been around long before the iphone, and you'll be amazed at some of the fanboyism displayed there in the wireless carrier section.

I think this is a very smart ad - well made. Not showing the phone is great, it just shows how well know the product is (so no need to show it off) and it keeps the talk iPhone on Verizon alive.

Ok commercial

I anticipate Verizon will debut a more exciting commercial during the Super Bowl

Great ad. Targetting it at their current customers is a smart move.

I think the “thousands” of people that are going to switch from ATT to Verizon are just a few vocal forums posters.

If someone was really having enough reception problems on ATT to make the iphone useless they must have already switched to another provider and an ipod touch instead of wating years for the verizon iPhone while suffering on ATT.

I Like how Verizon does their TV ad commercials. They are usually very dramatic with dramatic music to go with it. This one was simple and targeted to their current customers who waited patiently for so long. I am one of those millions, so I see the connection. I saw a little apple in it with the "simplicity" to it.

p.s. Why are we arguing over commercials lol? seriously guys?

Just saw a new iPhone 4 ad on CBS during the Ohio State - Illinois game.

It shows two iPhone 4's side by side, each doing the exact same thing. At the end, they swing out of the way to reveal the AT&T logo on one side of the screen and the Verizon logo on the other. It's followed by the words "Two is better than one" being displayed on the screen.

Just thought I'd pass it on. I haven't found an online link to it yet.

POTENTIAL iPhone VZW Customers: Take heed

Hear ye, Hear ye,

Thou shallst be prepared to acquire and own the great magical phone you have ever used! *waits for applause eruption to die down* ... However, thou shallst be prepared to see the same phone everywhere.

Your aunts, your uncles, your brothers, your sisters, your moms/dads/nieces/nephews ... your brother's step-father's cousins .... it will be everywhere. I've seen it happen before on cdma networks with a different phone. Mark my words ....

The Verizon iPhone WILL be, without a doubt, the RAZR of this decade. :(

Yeah, I saw that too. Here's the link to a (crappy) video of the commercial.

You mean, kinda like the AT&T iPhone already is? What exactly is going to change here? Sure, there'll be millions more iPhone users, but I can't walk down the street without seeing dozens of iPhones already.

Yes you're right, but in less than a month, it will be even more sickening. Don't get me wrong, the iphone is a GREAT phone but when me and my two friends (iPh 3Gs and iPh 4G) were sitting on the same couch watching the despicable Packers make mince-meat out of Atlanta, it was that very moment I realized how irritating it was going to get with everyone carrying iPhones in their pockets.

I have been waiting a LONG time to upgrade (I use Tmo as my carrier), but I'm not so sure I'm going to get an iPhone 5. I'll make my decision in April/May when I believe the next Keynote (after the iPad one) will be announced.
