No, that's from not handling a phone with care. Scratches do not just happen nearly as easy as some people believe. My phone has never had a screen protector on it and the screen is pristine. I don't baby it, I just don't throw it around or put it in a bag or pocket with other junk. It's very, very easy to not scratch an iPhone screen.

I do handle my phone with utmost care, not tossing it around! The whole purpose of this thread is to tell that it scratches even if you care about it! I hope your screen remains as pristine as day one, but my point here is no matter how you care about it you may get a scratch on 6S+. Another point of my thread is a recommendation to get a screen protector to avoid this.

i guess you don't have OCD..

I guess not, it's just a phone.

Would I put screen protector if I knew it's gonna scratch that easily? Yes of course! Am I going to do anything and change the phone because of it? Absolutely not. And I think putting screen protector now is too late, it's scratched already...

I can completely understand Women getting scratches on the screen from keeping the phone in their purse with keys.

so you don't want to prevent more scratches?

say what you will, you are probably a very tidy and arranged person.
well i had the phone for 3 days with pristine (pocket, table and bedside) care and still, one grain of something in my pocket might have done this.
i don't accept claims like "well, you haven't been careful enough".
even you, yes YOU! could get a scratch from who knows what.
so for every other less then 100% tidy as you are, i would suggest putting a SP.

On the contrary, I'm actually a very messy person, and have lived in 2 countries, 2 provinces, and 4 states in different climates and conditions, and I've never encountered anything like that. A grain of anything putting any kind of noticeable scratch on an iPhone screen is just extremely hard for me to believe. There's no point in saying as such, really, and we won't come to any kind of verifiable conclusion, I just see this so often and every single time it's blaming the screen and not the user. It's a little silly. The only time a screen of mine has ever scratched (4S) was entirely my fault. I dropped it down the crack in a couch and as I was pulling it out it dragged across the steel frame. Disappointing, but certainly not the phone's fault.

well i never said it WASN'T my fault.
once the phone is out of the box it's on me.
but i think there's a little truth about the coating more prone to scratches.

Agree to disagree, I suppose. It's as resistant as ever for me.

You (and many others) again missing my point...which is: New 6S+ scratches like no previous phones I ever had! That's all what I'm saying in my very first post. I'm not blaming apple or anyone for the scratch. I haven't scratched any iPhone in my life, and this one, apparently speck of dust or something went in to my pocket and scratched it. If such a small thing as speck of dust scratches the screen, that means it's scratches... plain and simple....

My other point of this thread is, in order to prevent this, I totally suggest screen protector. I have never used one, and possibly in future will start using one. Why I haven't used screen protectors on any phones before? Because none of them ever scratched starting from 3g! Don't tell me that I'm using it wrong and it's my fault. I'm babying it, as I baby all other electronic gadgets, as well as all other previous phones. When I sell my used phone people ask me are you sure it's not new?? That also tells me 6S+ is much more prone to scratch as none of the phones scratched before with exact same use...

I'm sorry, you can be as adamant as you want that you didn't do anything to scratch it, and I'm not saying you knowingly or wilfully did so, but I refuse to believe that a speck of dust scratched your phone. There's dust and other particles of crap in every single person's environment. If it was that easy, all of our phones would scratch with ease. Somewhere, something that is harder than the glass on your screen scratched it, I'm sure by mistake, but it happened.

The most you would ever get from a grain of sand are tiny micro scratches. The scratches people complain about all too frequently are absolutely not caused by grains of sand. Throw your phone in the sand, sure, the result will likely be different, but let's not pretend like a tiny piece of dust or sand in a pocket is going to leave any kind of meaningful scratch. Deeper scratches have only ever been caused by improper handling.

Nobody who uses a screen protector actually prefers the look and feel of it. They use one to prevent scratches. If you take the risk then be prepared to suffer the consequences...

what do you mean? my SP is perfect, just like a screen, it's like it isn't there at all.

Well, I'll agree in the main. However we don't apply them because they feel and look better do we.

of course..
i just meant that IF you wanna protect the phone (even only for money value),
these days they make SPs that are close to perfect.
that is, until they'll make REAL unscratchable/unbreakable glass.

Yes they do. However, with the sloping sides of the 6 Series iPhones it is difficult to get a screen protector that 'disappears'.

the more expensive ones (Godosmith IceMax) really do curve exactly with the screen edge.
really amazing.

TO ALL THOSE WHO THINK THAT'S MY FAULT : I completely forgot!!! I have knives, razor blades and all kind of ninja high quality sharp weapon in my pocket where I have my phone. How could I completely forget about that. Oh and several screws and nails as well!!! So you are all right, it's totally my fault!!! How could I forget about all those, and now I need re-think this, because durability of the screen actually not bad at all. Just one tiny scratch from all these sharp objects in my pocket dangling with the phone! LOL

Ironically most of those items wouldn't scratch the screen, but a tiny piece of grit would.

Its personal preference as far as screen protectors go

I don't like them personally, but can't lament someone else who does and enjoys using them or prefers to use them
