Feels like "innovation" has just become slang for "bigger screen" - I'm struggling to think what other revolutions any of those companies have introduced to the sector. NFC? Has that changed the world without my noticing?
HTC Really???? Apple sued them for copying and patent infringement. They settled out of court, now Apple makes more money off the HTC one than HTC. Samsung???? Be specific.Hmm...Samsung, HTC, LG, etc, etc, etc. BTW, Apple brought this on themselves. If they didn't go around throwing terms like "revolutionary" and "innovative" at every little thing they put in their products (which, again, lots of phones had long before Apple did), they wouldn't get mocked by the competition like they do. It's the boy who cried wolf syndrome. They said it so much that nobody takes them seriously now.
.
While Apple is sitting back on their laurels and introducing (rumored) things that phones had 5 years ago and calling it revolutionary, the rest of the market is making leaps and bounds, both technologically and physically (where the devices are concerned).
Wake up folks. Apple needs to innovate. Introducing a upgraded iPhone 5 isn't it.

still waiting for the innovation part. The camera and keyboard, is that the best u got! there are 3rd party apps for that.Actually, I believe that was the One X you're referencing, not the One.
Sure, there are a lot of features on phones like the S4 that the normal person doesn't use. But there are other features that people like me use on a daily basis. The camera, for one. Apple slaps some filters in the iOS 7 camera app and says look what we did! Samsung's camera app, on the other hand is incredible. You can tweak it in a hundred different ways to get just what you want (on the fly).
Then there are the standard Android things. Being able to select what keyboard or browser you want to use. A maps app that actually works. A file system.
Again, if people want to bury their heads in the sand and believe their iPhone is on the cutting edge of tech and better than everything else out there, that's fine. That's their prerogative. But I truly believe that's only because they either haven't or don't want to try the alternatives. If you don't have first hand experience with what else is available, you don't get to say what's the best for the masses. If it's best for you, good on ya. BTW, using a Galaxy S2 2-3 years ago doesn't make one qualified. Android has come a LONG way since those days.

What features 5 years ago?

Android has not come a long way. Just ask Samsung and google, both plan to drop android for other operating systems. Android was never a long term solution.
So where is the innovation you spoke of in these examples? Camera filtering? Yeah it sucks that its not standard but there are $.99 apps in the store that do that. Changing the keyboard? Really?
So a tweaky camera app (never seen one of those before) and a file system, circa 1950. Given a direct challenge to identify all this android "innovation" that's genuinely the best you could do?
You know...I was going to politely respond to each of these comments, as it would be great to actually have a conversation around here. But since the Fanboys seems to love coming into the Alternatives to iOS and iOS Devices portion of the forum to jump all over someone that isn't an iSheep and make themselves feel better, I think I'll pass.
You guys just keep blindly believing that your little 4", locked down, walled garden of a phone is the bees knees. Again, if it works for you, great...enjoy it. However, there are those of us that aren't scared of Android or Windows Phone and are willing to open ourselves up to new things. In doing that, some of us realize that the blissful experience that Apple tells us we need isn't as blissful as they say.
Enjoy your day, folks. I'm done.

windows phones what's that? You do realize your on a Apple forum? FYI in order to have a constructive conversation one must reply to actual questions being asked eg. What has Samsung innovated? You know...I was going to politely respond to each of these comments, as it would be great to actually have a conversation around here. I'll definitely be getting the 5S.
I have had every iPhone since the 3GS. Early on I stood in line for hours to get each new model. As they started allowing you to order and receive one at the time they went on sale, I would set my alarm to get up in the middle of the night to place an order. I did the same with iPad 1, 2, 3 and mini.
I guess some would call me a fan. However, this go round I have seen nothing rumored in the 5s that has even peaked my interest. If all the design team can come up with is more processor and memory with a finger print reader I'll most likely sit out this round.
