That is what I say, do you know what implies to do the things he did when no one understood? There was not even internet. Look.... even Jesus got murdered to try to change things. John Lenon too. I do not know how Einstein did it. But people who wants to change things and create will hit many barriers.

Einstein was an actual genius , so that is self explanatory .

I fail with the connection between Jesus, Lenon and jobs, jobs was neither the messiah nor a Beatle.....

Nobody is defending a soulless maniacal slave driver. The problem with your statement is just that your assessment of Steve Jobs is completely wrong. Cue the people throwing wild accusations around without understanding the person in any way.

There will a lot of people in this thread making huge assumption for both pros and cons, and none of them ever met him.

All of them changed the way things are around the world, all have interesting biographies, will always be featured as people who made history. All of them have a legacy.

You cannot compare jobs to Jesus ! That is beyond dillusional.

oh my goodness that was only the trailer? I thought it was the whole film. I'm such a dummy!!! Thank you both for clarifying that. I would've never known without your condescending replies <3 xoxo
Your'e missing the point. How can you form an opinion about whether the film is "mean spirited" by watching a trailer? Unless you saw the premier?

I am not comparing them. However they do have similiarities as both have followers and many consider they created cults or religions.
Dillusional? I'm trying to be objective here. You are reading my words and thinking something beyond what I meant.

From a cult point of view maybe. Though I would think Scientology is more appropriate comparison.

Apple will never get the user base big J has ;)

Here someone else wrote a comparison that also shows some interesting things to think about :

I completely disagree. Though everyone is entitled to thier opinion.

I more interstated is the facts behind how apple was formed and the man jobs was. I do not worship him, he was a great tech visionary but also had his issues. He was in it to make $$$$$... While giving us products that were not essential but made our lives easier, if you could afford it.

People are making assumptions on past documentary works and Isaacson's book. For someone like Jobs, people tend to over-dramatize him, making him look like a saint or devil. That's how you get people to watch the film or buy the book. But in reality, thing may (or may not be) quite different. Isaacson hardly knew Jobs as a person, other than what what he cold deduce from interviews with others (and he did a pretty good job based on limited information). If you've read Becoming Steve Jobs or the last few chapters of Creativity Inc, then you can see that things are much more nuanced. Many on the forum here seems to be brainwashed by whatever book or film they may have seen or read. It's important to remember that all people are just people. It's presumptuous of us to think that we can fit a person into one category and argue about who was right.

I am not worshiping Jobs either. I do like many things he did and said, and specially the way he said many of them.
Another similarity is that both returned to complete their missions, both were "eliminated" by adversaries and both managed to return and do something bigger than what they did before. Again I'm not saying Jobs is better than Jesus.

Didn't Isaacson actually spent several days interviewing and talking with Jobs for the purpose to write the book? Have you read the book?

I was honestly surprised when I read that Jony Ive and the rest of the executive team thought poorly of Isaacson's book. I figured that given that Jobs himself commissioned it, allowed unprecedented access etc, it could be considered the definitive biography.

Isaacson clearly respected and thought highly of his subject, though of course there is both good and bad in everyone. Which he didn't flinch away from.

Well you missed a great era with the Mac Plus and some of the great ones running Classic Mac OS as well as OS X before the iPod.
I don't know those that went with Commodore, Atari; Sinclair; Amstrad; BBC would have experienced great eras too especially in the 80s. I remember the Mac Plus and at nearly $3000 in the late 80s was just a little out of reach especially when you chucked an image writer in there as well.

What did Jobs's non employee friends and family say about the book?

Is Edde trying to "reshape" Steve's image? Come on, he is who he is.... remember how Steve tried to take down rumors site in pass? Remember think secret? Most importantly nice person can't make the **** done, but ******* with talent can and I think thats how Steve works. And Woz, I think he didn't mean that, in his bio he said, media always fishing his un" paraphrase statement about Apple and Steve, but most importantly he still friend with Steve, and employed at Apple.

You can be nice and great at creating and managing a business without being *******.

Just a friendly reminder:

Holy crap, this brought a tear to my eye it's so true. Not literally as others have pointed out, but ideally this is human nature. Do we value the NFL football player differently than an inner city school teacher?
