Did you forget the sarcasm brackets?

I find it funny that America has so many seriously overweight people, that they started a movement to accept fat as being a good thing. The rest of the world mocks America for it as its a false hope and not true.

"overweight" is a hate speech word. I'm not fat. I'm not overweight. I'm just BIG.

You should think twice before start hurting people's feelings. Apparently they don't teach in school how to treat a lady.

The problem with this service is that most people even remotely serious about fitness, have their own fitness routine, their own equipment or go to a gym and will be annoyed at the ridiculous scripts and smiles. This seems to be geared towards those who came up with getting in shape as their New Years Resolution and who will quit using it after two months.

The problem right now is likely that most people aren’t exercising. Most fit people might have their own gym (provided they beat the covid mad dash for equipment), but most people aren’t fit.

and if you don’t have your own fitness equipment, well, most people sure aren’t going to gyms right now.

hopefully that’ll change. But for most people, truly, this can bring a lot more people to water, as it were. Still can’t make them drink, but it’s soooo easy.

Can anyone identify the brand of treadmill they are using in the pic? Is Apple secretly making exercise equipment that synchs better with Fitness+ and iPhone and Apple Watch? Mac built-in with monitor? or like Tesla, inflate the treadmill or bike tires to the desired level? Thoughts that make me say, Hmmm.
The equipment in the Apple Fitness + photo is from Technogym. The professional gym models (Skillrun, Unity 7000 model) range about $14-17K. They have a home version for about $4,400 called "MyRun". https://www.technogym.com/us/skillrun-performance-treadmill.html

It’s actually a clinical word. Doctors do not use the term “big”. They use the terms obese and morbidly obese.

And gender should have zero influence on how well (or poorly) you treat someone, or expect to be treated. School taught me not to seek out things to be visibly offended over.

Society is changing to where you have people that are either extremely fit, or completely out of shape and obese. There is very little in between, unless they live in a city that requires a high degree of walking (NYC, most European cities etc).

This is a dangerous situation to be in. The obese segment will continue to grow as a % of total and consume more and more % of total resources. This is concerning from terms of national security as well as simple resource distribution. Apple clearly sees the issue the same as I do. It is so much more than just “looking good” because it is clear that most people have zero intention of doing just that.

Personally, I think we need national level health incentives in place in all developed nations, which reward health standards and achievements. Conversely, penalties should be considered for those that do refuse this (this could be applied to COVID nomasker types as well). Maybe we could start with simply deploying scales at grocery and fast food checkout and adjusting tax based on adipose mass? Eventually moving to rewards in UBI Plans in the automated future,

I don’t have all the answers, but Apple can certainly help encourage healthier living. Remember.....Heart disease is our number one killer.....and is very avoidable if you are in shape....

we can do better! Wear a mask. Wash your hands. Put down the crips. Go for a run!

Google of "Apple Fitness+ Treadmill".... https://www.apple.com/apple-fitness-plus/equipment/

I do the 45min treadmill workouts.... and, well, they have 5. Their first recorded one was Nov 2. So in over two months, they expanded their catalog of 45 min treadmill workouts to 5.

The service needs a LOT more workouts not designed for mall walkers.

Dumb question but why has Apple not developed a tech where one can simply broadcast to their TV. Smart TV's are a lot more abundant than they were 5 years ago and not allowing people to enjoy such services because they don't have an Apple TV seems dumb.

Hell Apple could even develop Apps so people could use Fitness on Roku's, and Fire TV's.

No it's not a hate speech word.
It's a medical term.

No one is debating that having a large frame or being "big boned" as unhealthy.

Your initial commends was also stating that working out is a waste and the eating donuts is fine.
"Exercise is a waste of time. You can be healthy at any size. For $80/year I can buy plenty of doughnuts !"

I also never ever insulted you or called you any name at all. I asked if you forgot the sarcasm bracket, because what you said was medically dangerous and putting lives at risk.

I’m not sure how you’re offended when I never called you a single thing. I stated to general comment on American # movements.

I think you just proved my point of deluded teachings.

When I was at school in Australia almost 20 years ago they taught us science, and that facts don’t care about people’s feelings. Which is a massive problem in the world right now.

This is why Apple have created Fitness+ to get people into a healthy shape. Your body is your vessel for staying alive.
You should be servicing it as you would a car.

Could anybody tell me WHY IS THIS NOT AVAILABLE IN MORE COUNTRIES? English is not my main language, but I can understand it.

is this sarcasm? Overweight is not a hate speech word. BIG people are big, overweight people are overweight, period. It's not hate speech is truth. I'm overweight, i know it and the only sad thing is - apple fitness is not available in my country. And if overweight is hate speech for you - do something with your body and stop being overweight, SPORTS!WALKS!RUNS! it's your choice to be overweight.

It is in the tech world (= California)

Australia is not California. But don't mind me. I'm just a big sensitive lady. 😘

How’s Apple Fitness+ if you don’t have an Apple TV and fitness equipment? I live in a small apartment and don’t watch much TV, so I just have never felt the need to have a full sized TV or to buy a new Apple TV to pair with it. But Fitness+ is far more interesting than News+ to me and the one reason I might upgrade my Apple One bundle. Also, do they have any outdoor walking/running videos?

So many of the comments talk about obesity, but weight loss is mostly a calories-in-calories-out thing. I struggle with dieting, likely for mental/emotional health reasons, but I’d have to be exercising at pro-athlete levels to lose any significant amount of weight without dieting. Pro athletes regularly burn 4000 or 5000 calories a day. At my age and height as a guy, my metabolism does burn around 3000 calories a day, sure, but getting enough exercise to burn an additional 2000 calories each day would involve making exercise my full time job. Calorie counting is far better for weight loss. That’s not to say exercise doesn’t have its benefits, particularly for muscle growth and toning, for increasing serotonin levels, and perhaps for organ system specific health, but exercise isn’t how you lose significant weight.

With no TV and no equipment, I guess you'll be doing floor exercises right? In that case, it's not a great experience on an iPad because it's probably too small at that distance. I use it on iPad exclusively, but that's with a treadmill and rowing machine where you're not too far and the size is perfect.

There's also no outdoor activities or audio training for running. If you want outdoor running training, try Nike Run Club. Peloton app also has outdoor running.

Really enjoying the service. Sure, there’s loads of enhancements and features they can add but it’s only been a month. Looking forward to see what they roll out... the Peleton ‘stacks’ features would be nice, along with kettlebell workouts and better filtering.

"You can be healthy while being fat" is a far too normal take in this country.

Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware of the ******** Magazines have pushed for years that make girls grow up thinking they all need to have a tiny waist and be stick thin. -which is wrong.

But America doesn't seem to understand that being overweight is just as bad.

As someone who has a Peloton and uses their strength workouts, I can say the Apple Fitness+ app is still inferior. The watch sync is nice, but the features, sorting and filters are not nearly enough. For example, Peloton just added another cool feature called stacks where I can quickly go through and build a workout from a from a few different classes (5 minute warm up, 15 minute hill climb, 20 minute upper body strength, 10 minute cool down) for example.

I have been looking at the Pelloton app on my iPad recently - I can't see this 'stacks' feature anywhere? All I can see is that you just choose a workout and you just hit the 'Start Workout' option and away you go. Sure, you can bookmark the workout but I see no option to 'stack' it with other workouts??!

I don't think it's in the app. You can go on the web site and do it there. You can build it on the web and access the stack in the app.

The main thing I'd like to see Apple add to this is the style of the workouts - the 'Strength' workouts should state which parts of the body they are concentrating on.

I've done a couple of the 30 minute 'Strength with Greg' workouts and although they have all been great, some workout purely the legs whilst others workout just the arms - there's no indication what each workout session actually exercises (i.e. which body parts).

It's in the description usually (and the preview). Not ideal, but that's how I filter out.

Kyle needs to get some 30 min ones. So far he seems like the hardest/best strength trainer. Amir is a sorta close second. Gregg seems to be the one they are pushing, but they need to balance it out.

I've enjoyed Apple Fitness+ for what it is.

I mostly do daily yoga, and a few times a week I'll pick a random strength training, HIIT or core to mix it up. I have found the difficulty a bit random..but I've just embraced the randomness and just go with whatever I randomly pick. If I have more free time, I can always just do another 10 minute session after easy. Of the trainers I've exercised with, I'm happy with them. For some types of exercises I've never done before, I'll just cycle through between the difficulty from the main trainer and the easy trainer.

I do agree there can be improvements on filtering the workouts. I'm not holding my breath though and will enjoy it for what it is. As some have mentioned, for me, its more about getting me active than it is about pushing myself to do exactly what the trainers are doing.
