The Siri supposed enhancements don't even seem like proper AI to me. "Send this!" and it knows it is the photo on your phone... What would it think you were trying to send without AI? A return package to Amazon in your back yard somewhere?
Also, context awareness is nice, but assuming you don't have mobility issues, the share button should be right there and you don't have to worry about Siri sending that selfie to your definitely-not-crush-omg by accident on purpose.

Based on what I've seen already I don't want any more Apple Intelligence features. I've turned most of them off so I'm happy to do without tbh.
How can you turn most of them off? I thought it was either on or off.
I set it up on my machine just to be nosy, going to go back to the last back-up and get rid of it again.

Considering how... questionable... some of Apple Intelligence's notifications currently are, I wonder if it'll actually do a good job figuring out what's important and what's not...?
Considering Siri told me the next Friday the 13th is on Saturday Jan. 18, I think I’ll just keep deciding what’s important without Apple’s help.

Waiting to test out on screen awareness of Siri. That should arrive by 18.4, maybe by April. Also waiting to have custom memory movie creation ability on the Mac.

It’s too bad that you can’t adjust the memory movies to show slides for a longer amount of time. 4.3 seconds is what I would recommend. It’s what works for my brain when slides are changing. They move way too fast, and I have written Apple hundreds of times about this and they refuse to do anything, so I will not use that “feature”. To be honest, I miss iMovie 6. The software was logical and it was easy to create a movie and anything after that has been crap. Thanks for letting me vent.

I use chatGPT a lot, because it works great for what i need at work.

Sadly Apple Intelligence has been a big disappointment so far. Everything is half baked.

It’s because people/users are just getting dumber/lazy. Apple removing features and preferences….all the while putting more resources into AI….which will do the ‘thinking’ for you. I don’t see this ending well.

Join the club and get used to it. You know Timmy said they’ve been working on it for years 🤥

The UK is in Europe but not the EU to the poster above which is why we have AI and the EU doesn’t due to their additional and onerous tech regulations. Cookie acceptance rsi anyone?

You know how it works: you write once a bad article about "them", and you are blacklisted by "them"...

...everything must always be "smart", the "most <select idevice> <select iattribute> ever built".
Why nobody dares to ask Timmy the burning questions? If every good journalist dares to asks those critical questions and gots banned by Apple there won’t be any story left. I’ve so many questions I could ask Timmy. And no… I don’t take the answer that they’ve been working on AI for years for granted. If so, the iPhone 15 and before were planned obsolescence. Even the new 16 which comes with a meager 8 Gb of ram. Ask Timmy if that’s enough for the years to come?

People say iOS needs less ram because it’s more efficient than Android. However Android is fully multitasking where iOS is not. iOS has the sort of a multifinder for those who remember the good old days. At least iPadOS should be fully multitasking.

All modern OS-es can multitask.

The slowest and most boring rollout ever. Image Playground is kinda meh, slow, heats up your iPhone, closes every app in the background and chews through battery like crazy. Meanwhile Meta added image generation to WhatsApp and Instagram and is almost instant, with much much better output. On-device LLM suck.

So far AI in general is mostly hype, maybe it will become impressive, along with Apple Intelligence, but for now it is all mainly gimmicks. That said, I was able to make a hilarious emoji of an angry Santa Claus with a bottle of whiskey, Apple Intelligence was really a game changer.
There have been a couple of instances where AI has given me impressive results. Copilot with Claude Sonnet has been getting really good, and audio transcribing and summarization with ChatGPT is really something. After trying that Plaud recording device I was amazed at how good it was.

Apple hardly is first, but they usually do things better. So I’m confident in Apple Intelligence.
What really is a shame is the fact that Apple AI is limited to the US and a few other countries. Siri is localized in many languages. Same for ChatGPT. I see no reasons for this limitation.
