The only interesting thing to me is the new connector, and how they will sell us a new $400 magic keyboard along with the $1k tablet :D I like the current magic keyboard, but it is way too bulky, especially after I moved to an M2 Air for my laptop. The iPad is thicker and feels heavier to move around...yet you don't want to carry it around without the keyboard case. So essentially the case ruins the nature of the iPad being an iPad.

Still using my old ipad pro 10.5" the only reason I did not switch to the 11" M1 is because the 13" had such a better display, and I figured it would come to the small one the next time they updated it. I really hope that's the case.

But I guess I'll actually miss the "large" chin and forehead that you can use to hold the ipad and the touchID. They should add it in the power button like on the other flat-sided ipads.
Exactly! Also writing this from my 10.5 and never saw a reason to upgrade. My plan is to upgrade when the screen gets updated on the 11. Waiting… :)

I’m also with you on TouchID, but I'll probably miss the headphone jack the most.

I would be upgrading my 2018 iPad Pro this year, however with no miniLED likely coming I will probably keep it longer. I wanted to try out stage manager and whatever else they upgrade, but cant buy another one with the same screen after all these years (especially when the larger pro has it).

With a new four-pin connector, is there any chance the current magic keyboard will still work?

I would hope so but not holding my breath. Ideally the rumored 4 pin layout would be backward compatible with the current 3 pin layout.

I do not expect this, I only wish, that the next iPad Pro will run macOS apps.

I think it'l be a while before we see an MacOS tablet; more likely iPadOS morphs into and replaces MacOS, IMHO.

MagSafe 3, USB-4 and SD-Card. It is supposed to be an iPad "Pro" after all.

SD card would be enough for me.

As someone with a still-feels-new M1 iPad Pro 12.9, I think the only thing that would have me buying a new iPad would be a 14 inch version.
Honestly, my 2018 iPad Pro still feels new. I don’t think there’s much of a real-world difference between the M1 and the A12X Bionic with the current state of iPadOS.

I would love to upgrade, but I need a reason, and M1/M2/Stage Manager aren’t really enough to justify an upgrade.

That's precisely why I rarely take MKB with me anymore. Got a new 12.9 Smart Keyboard Folio for half-price on Ebay. So much lighter, and the keyboard folds out-of-the-way behind the iPad. (Yeah, it doesn't have a trackpad, but that's what my MacBook is for.) I'd forgotten how much fun it is to touch the screen and use my iPad as, well, an iPad!

Am I the only one who thinks reverse charging is a bad idea? I just don't see the point in draining your iPad battery to charge another device. If you're that worried, carry a battery bank. They're small, they're lightweight, and shouldn't bother anyone to have to carry it.

I’m still expecting more of a MBP style MagSafe charger for the new wireless charging.

Having a hockey puck sized iPhone-like magnetic charger is bound to heat things up 🌡

Depends on the situation, charging a phone when calling Is more important than using the iPad would be useful.

Wonderful, so basically a little faster but you have to re-buy all the expensive accessories. Works for Apple!
I see this complaint all the time when it comes to Apple, but this is across the board with all the big tech companies. It's not just an Apple thing. I'm still using the same Apple keyboard and Pencil from my previous iPad to my M1. The same watch band, and many other accessories. The same can be rarely be said with those in the Android world. I also hate having to buy new accessories, but I'd hate it more if those accessories held technology and design back.

I have the same train of thoughts than you as someone with an 2018 too, besides, the change of connectors means my actual Smart Keyboard won't work. I want the m-chip and be able to use stage manager but the lack of mini led makes it kind of lackluster, if they definitely change the connector I will go for an M1.

This. If Apple is really smart, they’ll make the new iPP connector backwards compatible with the older keyboards so we don’t all have to trash them.

It would be insane to waste all those keyboards sold. It will also prevent people from upgrading because they’ll have to buy the new iPad and keyboard. Again.

Where can they go with the Ipad now in terms of hardware?

M1 to M2 is utterly pointless as nothing takes advantage of it yet.

Who uses a camera on the iPad? Probably a few people but I would wager its very few so a camera bump is unlikely to be a reason to upgrade.

More base storage perhaps but lets face it, that would come at a cost.

I have the M1 11" Pro and I don't see myself upgrading until I absolutely have to, i.e. if the battery starts to struggle or I break it.
The M1 Chip does not have the ProRes Media engine in it, the M2 Chip does which would most likely be a welcome addition/upgrade for people that might do video editing on the iPad and shoot in ProRes.
