Does anyone know what is gonna happen to the camera on the upcoming 2022 iPad Pro ? is it gonna be placed portrait or Landscape ?

Where can they go with the Ipad now in terms of hardware?

M1 to M2 is utterly pointless as nothing takes advantage of it yet.

Who uses a camera on the iPad? Probably a few people but I would wager its very few so a camera bump is unlikely to be a reason to upgrade.

More base storage perhaps but lets face it, that would come at a cost.

I have the M1 11" Pro and I don't see myself upgrading until I absolutely have to, i.e. if the battery starts to struggle or I break it.
Owning the M1 12.9”, I agree. However since you have the 11”, there is a possible display update to look for. The mini LED display looks great.

Yeah, a glass back that‘ll easily shatter, even more so with the added weight of a glass back and then cost hundrets of dollars to repair. Sounds a little like the apple of late - but still, I hope it‘s just a stupid rumor. Maybe they‘ll just make the apple logo from glass and that‘s where you can then place your airpods?
I can‘t see myself dropping my iPad. A phone is one thing (which is why I put a case on mine), but iPads and laptops are large enough that I don’t think drop damage is a major concern. My biggest concern with a glass back is cooling. The iPad Pro like the MacBook Air is passively cooled, and an aluminum enclosure is important in facilitating that. Few applications can fully benefit from M1 (or M2) as of yet, but that’s no reason the decrease its possible performance.

Am I the only one who thinks reverse charging is a bad idea? I just don't see the point in draining your iPad battery to charge another device. If you're that worried, carry a battery bank. They're small, they're lightweight, and shouldn't bother anyone to have to carry it.
I occasionally use reverse charging to charge my iPhone from my iPad, but anytime I do so I’m in enough of a pinch that I wouldn’t want to lose any energy to wireless charging and would still connect them via cable. The only use case I could see would be using your iPad as a wireless charging pad while it itself is charging to charge two devices with one cable. Even still, I wouldn‘t want the heat from two charging processes in one device.

The M1 Chip does not have the ProRes Media engine in it, the M2 Chip does which would most likely be a welcome addition/upgrade for people that might do video editing on the iPad and shoot in ProRes.
If you intend on using a iPad Pro for ProRes video editing, you need to seriously rethink your workflow. If it’s worth shooting in ProRes, then it is worth editing an a real computer with a proper OS (even if it’s just a MacBook Air).

Apple would never do that would
Make the ipad way to heavy. For wireless charging they prob keep the back the same as now and make the apple logo glass and use MagSafe around that to lock onto to wireless charge the iPad.

All potentially useful upgrades.
But still holding onto my 2017 12.9” iPP because it’s the last one with Touch ID, a headphone port, and bigger bezels—all of which I find extremely useful. Apple can never leave well enough alone IMO (I’m also holding onto my SE1–the last true one-handed iPhone).

Wonderful, so basically a little faster but you have to re-buy all the expensive accessories. Works for Apple!
Who realistically needs to update their iPad every 12-18 months? Nobody. These will be aimed at folks with the 2018 or earlier models, or newbies.

having the ipad pro 2020, i am not attracted by the new updates. I will probably buy a macbook pro instead ...

Oddly enough the bi-lateral wireless charging appeals to me. Good to get more use out of that giant battery.

I agree probably would be best to edit on a "real computer proper os" but the person I was replying to said the M2 would be a useless upgrade for the iPad Pro. I gave an example on situation where it would be a beneficial upgrade couple that with Stage Manager to do better (not best) external display support you got a a pretty good video editing platform, especially with the 12.9" display having reference mode capabilities.

They want you to trade in your current devices to upgrade and buy all new ones that might possibly include better features 😒

The obvious choice would be to put in a Magsafe 3 port in addition to keeping the USB-C port. However, knowing Apple they may do something "courageous" like removing the USB-C port entirely and using the Magsafe puck.

Inductive charging is too clunky and inefficient, I really hope they don't go that way.

With a new four-pin connector, is there any chance the current magic keyboard will still work?
"If you had the cash to burn to buy a keyboard for the price of a whole ipad, you will still gave cash to burn when we arbitrarily change the connector", is what apple thinks.

Yeah, but they are also always touting their effort to reduce environmental waste so…that’s a lot of v1 Magic Keyboards floating in the sea 🌊

2020 models, too. It'll have been 30 months since that one when the 2022 model is released.

I feel the M1 chip has been introduced to iPad just for Stagemanager. Still no real usage of the power it comes with it.

Funny you mention this, i have one more payment with AT&T‘s celular contract that was 2 years ago, IF the changes of this 2022 iPad Pro are drastic enough then yeah count me in, but it’s funny because I’ll trade this ipad in just for the magic keyboard all things considered That rumors abound i heard will feature a Touch Bar or what ever.

iddk i’m pretty happy with this one But the ipad plus keyboard combo does feel a bit heavy. If people really want a 14” inch ipad why not purchase a macbook at that point which is what the 12.9” iPad Pro feels like to me at this rate!

In summary, all rather small evolutionary updates. Bringing mini-LED or OLED screens to iPad 11” would be much more useful, IMO. Personally, do not see any point in updating my Air 4 until it goes OLED, all the rest of it works just fine.
Careful what you wish for. I'm an iPad Pro 12.9 2018 owner and recently bought a 2021 M1. Features are great (external monitor support), HDR looks great. Unfortunately five hours with the 2021 results in crushing eye ache/headache which lasts 36 hours. No issues with long sessions on the 2018. I also have issues with the M1 Max laptop screen, which fortunately I mostly use with external monitors. The iPad Pro 12.9 2021 is the worst of them. Which is unfortunate as I would have liked to make the upgrade. I'll be sitting tight with the 2018 for a few years until there's another evolution in screen technology to something which doesn't hurt my eyes.

If these rumours are true then it’s a majorly lacklustre upgrade. I guess that’s expected though when the FMWhatsapp 2022 model was a good upgrade. 👏
Android has splendid features 2022, except dynamic island has no change in-between. As an apple fan, I was little disappointed, even though still i use my iphone 11. I could make a change in my decision if the apple fans in Ipad pro has lot of expectations.

So nothing about the 16" version? Maybe at this point I will just take an interactive display like Huion Camvas Pro 24 for my artworks....
