how did screen burn in happen? Curious mind wants to know.
My screen is always on, either notification screen or an app or maps.
You could see words and the camera icon from the notification screen when viewing a blank safari page.

I’ve always done this since my iPhone 4. This is my first OLED iPhone, never had burn-in with the LED iPhone.
They replaced it for free under AppleCare+ saying it was “defective”.

Funny, they didn’t replace the battery while it was open because it was over 81%. They said my model is easy to replace the battery because it’s not glued shut like the 12&13.

Cooling chambers you say? I’m intrigued. 🧐 keeping the phone cool would be great.

Now, about this removal of SIM card… F. THAT. I’m not paying the carriers $35 or whatever it is now, for doing absolutely nothing when I buy a new phone. With no sim tray to swap in new card, I’ll be forced to activate with carrier e-sim and charged the fee? I hope someone finds a way around that fee with e-sim.

Does anyone actually use two SIMs? I've moved and don't want to change the number I've had for 15 years, but I also need a local number, so I'm trying to figure out an option there.
Yes. A lot. It’s very handy while traveling abroad. Since I’ve discovered an app called Airalo I don’t need to buy a second sim-card and go through the hassle of switching sim-cards

Thanks for sharing these experiences. I don’t use my iPhone as heavily as you do, but I can see how the screen burn in happened. Hope the new unit works out better.

Regarding battery life: my iPhone 12 stubbornly sits at 85% health for like 6 months! My AppleCare runs out in January of next year and I’m hoping it’s health will drop to below 80 so I can get the battery replaced for free!

I don’t know if anything is really set in stone as far as Apple’s plans for charging/data cables going forward but rumors floating around said that they might go entirely wireless with both charging and data transfer, both options that already exist on the last couple of years for their phones. Maybe just to thumb their nose at the EU.
They may as well remove GarageBand from the iOS App Store if that ever happens, along with any other apps which mostly only work properly when your device is physically plugged into something.

How could you hate purple? ;)
I didn't like the one purple that was all pastel lavendery. Even my wife didn't like it, and she likes purple. If it comes to 14 Pro and looks like I've seen, it could be ok. But being darker, I fear it will just end up looking dark gray or black like MG and PB did. I like my SB

I’m not against orange, but purple is a good color too.
Yes I would like either, as long as they are bright enough and don't look mostly dark gray or black except for in sunlight. Think orange would be better on that front

I think it’s unlikely that apple will switch to USB-C for the 14 because of all the profit they make by keeping it lightning. But I really hope they do at this point. All of my apple devices use USB-C and having just my iPhone using lightning is a massive hindrance by now. I doubt they will make the switch since they won’t have to until 2024 but if they did I’d be super excited and will definitely get it. What are your guys thoughts?
Realistically it's August now which is when the iPhone rumors are most accurate other than in September itself. If the iPhone 14 had USB-C we would know about it by now simply due to how the manufacturing process works.

The 15 will almost certainly get it, but it's next to zero chance for the 14.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much of an alternative… 🤷‍♂️

Apple has already increased the thickness by a significant amount, especially for a flagship smartphone.
In summary, nothing to be excited about...
Some people might be excited, but I’m not going to complain about incremental improvements.
Very disappointing.
It isn’t for you then. You can’t expect every single new iPhone to be completely new. The smartphone industry is saturated. 🤷‍♂️
Most important question: will it be made available in an English lavendah casing?
I don’t even know what that is, so probably not.

Yeah, you’ll have to take a look at it for yourself.
Anyone else interested in the iPhone 14 mini? Or is this not happening?
It’s not happening.

Darker colors can be done right on certain smartphones.

It’s nice that Apple is finally upping their game in the camera department but it seems that they’re only fixing the wide angle camera. I owned a Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra for 6 months (ended up switching back to iPhone 13 Pro because I prefer iOS) and that phone absolutely crushed the iPhone camera on all 3 lenses. No contest. It was difficult to come back to the iPhone camera after seeing how good a phone camera can be when the manufacturer puts in some effort. Maybe in like 4 years time the iPhone might be comparable to a 2021 model Xiaomi in the camera department. Also where is USB-C Apple? Not good enough. I won’t be upgrading until USB-C is on the iPhone.

You’ll probably end up purchasing the iPhone 15 then.

Have you considered buying a few USB-C to Lightning adapters to tide you over in the meantime, so even if you forget your lightning cable you can charge with all your usb-c cables?

Airalo is very expensive compared to local sim cards found on arrival. I paid 15 eur for 100GB in Singapore and it included roaming in most of Asia plus UK

It comes in really handy if you have both a personal number and a business one but prefer to use only one phone.
I port a lot and so much easier to do so when smart phones have dual SIM slots. An area that I travel through has poor mobile data connectivity with Voda____ where as Optus and that other one work so McDonald’s app ordering can be problem free, continue my  Music access and issue Siri commands. I sometimes activate an Optus eSIM before departure whiich means I can utilise that carrier that has free frequencies for data access.

Doesn’t that just mean the main camera? On a phone with three cameras, they are typically ultra-wide, wide, and telephoto.
