Got It To Work In Windows 7!!

1) Follow instructions in Appshopper website
2) Manually set the IP for your laptop's adapter to something in the 13.37.13.xx range (xx = any number 0-255 except 37) and set subnet mask to 255.0.0.0
3) ****DOWNLOAD SAFARI FOR WINDOWS****
4) Change the settings under preferences>advanced>Proxies (click change settings) then click on the LAN settings button. Uncheck automatically detect settings, check Use a proxy... and click advanced. Uncheck use same proxy server for all protocols and erase all the numbers on HTTP, secure & ftp. Enter 13.37.13.37 and port 1337 in the Socks line. Click ok
5) Browse the internet!

Thanks to the developer and congrats to those who were able to download it

The developer needs to release the source code. If he did, all developers could have tethering on their non-jailbroken iPhones! Not possible to kill switch that!

unbelievable that we're 15 pages into this thread and a windows method hasn't been worked out yet.....
Can all you guys really be using mac books?

edit: thanks mrfsu
good to know they're are still windows users out there.

My guess is that Nick Lee's already using the freely available iProxy source code.

quite impressive.
it seems to work like a charm.

i'll refrain too use it until it's clear it's safe and there aren't any additional 'easter eggs' in the software.

apple should thank this kid for exposing a weakness with a program that is not malware (hopefully).

we'll see how long it lasts.

No luck getting it to work with IE on Windows 7. I tried a number of things. I can ping 13.37.13.37, but no internet connectivity. :(

Hmm.....I think apple will pull this app and enable the kill switch for this one.

On another note, AT&T should think about allowing us to tether without charging an extra $20/mo. I believe that will stop a lot of this "getting around" things. in order to tether you have to switch to the new plans and pay an extra $20 without any additional data added to your account? BS...that $20 should at least come with an additional 2GB a month (for a total of 4GB). Otherwise leave it at 2GB and let us tether for free (of course we will go over the 2GB limit anyways, then charge us).

Just my thoughts on the manner. I will be using this app and it does work btw.

well this is MAC rumors so I'm sure the majority of us are on macs, yeah

Once again Apple imposed its wall-gardened approach at the expense of user's convenience.

But hey, if you don't like it, come to Android. :D

Bizarre, I did the whole process all over again, I still have the yellow dot saying self-assigned IP, but I opened Safari and it works.

I ain't complaining. 1.42Mb/s Download and 1.09Mb/s Upload. Not too shabby for something so bizarre lol.

I fully agree with this. It's bogus to charge extra to tether without either offering more data to use or just letting it come with the data plan. Since you are already paying per data usage, it should not matter how you are using it. I could see justifying an extra charge if it was unlimited cause then they could argue you would be using more data than if you did not tether.

Mine also has the yellow light but works perfectly, so I don't think that is the problem.

Thanks for the reply. I figured it out. I had the port(s) block with little snitch. Once opened, worked like exactly as described. :)
