Backing up the file is useless if they killswitch it. My guess is the kill-list would have a unique identifier of the app and that identifier would be the same whether or not you downloaded it through iTunes or copied it from a backup. So the phone would still not allow the app to run.

you can also ssh the .ipa into any jb iphone...since they already pulled it!

this will be interesting to see what apple does (if anything) regarding this app. other apps have been pulled from the app store for different reasons but not enough to be kill-switched.

For those who have had problems getting this to work with Adium or iChat:

iChat
1) iChat > Preferences > Accounts tab > Account Information tab > uncheck "Enable this account"
2) Server Settings tab > check "Connect using proxy" > keep checked "Use proxy servers specified in System Preferences"
3) Account information tab > re-check "Enable this account"
4) Repeat above steps if you have multiple accounts

Adium
1) Adium > Preferences > Accounts tab
2) Select desired account(s) > Edit > Proxy tab > check "Connect using proxy"
3) Select "Systemwide SOCKS5 Settings" > click OK
4) You may have to uncheck/re-check your account to force a reconnect
5) Repeat above steps if you have multiple accounts

Third time repeating myself: The killswitch is not a true killswitch. It only disables core location for a particular app. It does not remove the app from your phone.

I think you are mistaken. The core-location blacklist that was originally publicized may only lock out core location, but Jobs confirmed there is a true killswitch, but he didn't specify how it's triggered.

chances are if they really do "killswitch" an app, you're not going to want to run it. It likely steals info (spyware/malware). I'm sure Apple's not going to killswitch this app.

I think at this point I'd be more concerned about ATT closing out the data plans when they find out. I am not too worried about apple's killswitch

It's stuff like this that is eventually going to bring the App Store down. Apple is not checking the quality of apps and people are getting sick of being the guinea pigs having to spend $.99 to $4.99 and up for crappy software.

Yeah, might be a good idea to see what AT&T does regarding this app before using it. They're the ones with the biggest reason to dislike this app (I'd bet Apple only cares cause AT&T does).

Glad your excited.. Typical life of Windows, multiple steps of madness that can be done in less than half the steps on a Mac.

Please explain how? Have you even tried the steps? I did on my MBP 17.. and it it's about the same. Please tell me how you can do this in half the steps..

it's all relative man- some apps have crap reviews but some people find them useful. Some apps have great reviews and I really regret purchasing them. I do agree the quality control could be upped a bit- after this fiasco Apple might step it up.
