Edit : Just noticed this forum is nit designed to allow a simpler "flat" input of text, thus the space inserted in the wrong place where flat designed sentences have a character limit. tut tut. I would have at least expected an animation to help dazzle and draw attention away (feel free to insert a gif).

Regarding the dots used for signal strength

At first I didn't really like the dots but after using ios 7 for a couple months and then seeing other phones with the bars, I actually prefer the dots now. Easier to distinguish your signal strength and looks cleaner imo

It takes up too much space on the status bar, if Apple would reduce their size, I wouldn't have any issues with it. Also, having the unavailable signal dots lightly greyed out instead of being hollow would look a lot more elegant IMO.

I think in iOS 8 it won't look much different, but they might reign in the white a bit so things aren't as harsh. For instance, on a scale from 1 to 10, 1 being skeuomorphic and 10 being flat, I'd go for an 8. You need a little of that skeuomorphic to bring clarity to a design. If I had to choose between which looks better overall, iOS 6 and iOS 7, I'd definitely choose iOS 7. I'm still not a fan of some of the icons (Safari has grown on me though) and I don't like the all text view for the weather in the notification center that doesn't even show the current temperature half the time—yet it shows me how long it would take to drive home, which is 10-15 minutes every day. Super useful information guys! Would like the ability to remove certain bits and have a weather widget similar to calendar, stocks, and reminders. I miss being able to see the current temperature, conditions and upcoming forecast at a glance.

The design of iOS needs to be more balanced as 6 went too far in terms of skeumorphism and 7 went too far with flat/minimalism.

Hopefully Ive and his design team have heard the most common complaints and strike a better balance for their UI designs.

At first I hated ios 7 UI and I stayed on ios 6 but after owning in r mini since december, I started to like ios 7 even though I have an iphone 4, now I like 7 more than 6. "Stockholm syndrome"? Anyone feeling the same?

It's only a matter of time... Resistance is futile!!!

Lets hope apple doesn't hope to buy or invest in a soft drinks firm like Pepsi.
As even with Apples ability to rebrand or influence the public, this idea of flat Pepsi being better would be a hard push.

Agreed. :) The dots look great much easier to distinguish the signal strength.

I think the design community is moving towards flat, just look at win8 as another example. Done right it can look nice. There are aspects of iOS7 that really nice, others that I thought could be better.

I prefer my air travel to be like my operating system metaphors; flat. I guess you like loopy-doo skeuomorphic air travel.

Well I don't really know for sure, I (can only guess) am positive you like sitting on lumpy chairs, sleeping on lumpy beds, riding on pot-hole ridden streets and the like. Nothing flat in your life.

So much for choice.

There are things in life that do not offer a choice, some cell phone support policies are only a small subset of things: "with no choice".
Hopefully that's not to imply that that's how it should be.
