anyone else notice how bad EDGE is on the iPad 15.1?
nothing instantly loads (video wise) and sometimes the program shuts down, then locks the iPad briefly.
also the login out every day was unexpected.
i disabled, enabled and configured the ad blockers and cleared that and this
but the app is useless on the ipad
Not that Safari is bad, just the syncing between the Dell XPS was convenient.

oh well,  wants and  gets what they want on their  devices.

I didn't even know that Edge runs on the iPad. I use Brave exclusively on iPhone and iPad and it's a great experience. I would use Firefox if they had the non-Chrome version on mobile but they can't.

How’s everyone doing with their flip flopping recently? I’m still on my M1 iMac. I did flirt with a PC build for a while as I normally do but ultimately decided the my iMac is a really good fit for me still. I have my Xbox Series X for playing games when I get the itch but admittedly it’s not as good as playing games on a PC for me, which is one of the reasons I looked at another PC.

I flip to PC because I have to use it for work, and then I flop back to my Mac to heal and recover from all the pain. That's all I can tell you.

Also, I prefer playing games on my Series X (and PS5 and Switch) then on PC.

I have flipped and not flopped. I've not returned to the Mac world since I left a few years ago. I enjoy avoiding the apple tax, the tools for work are windows only, the applications for my personal use are better in windows and the gaming world is heavily slanted towards windows.

recently i found a mac mini with a i7 processor, which took over my media player from the Dell XPS friday
therefore i won't be using windows all that much, which is a great operating system and laptop is perfect
but
since Adobe CS4 runs on both macs, and i have a drawing app on the iPad, 32GB of music on the touch,
i guess the  system with Mojave is all i really need.
I'm thinking about partitioning the mini with catalina, but why?
hopefully i can keep my system now for ever!

I have been doing great with my PC. HP updated their QuickDrop app to be able to send and receive iMessage/SMS from your PC via Bluetooth. It doesn't show a log of all your chats though, and if the app is closed it won't show new messages either.

I have been gradually moving away from Apple services, like replacing Reminders with Microsoft To Do, and replacing my Home Inventory app which is only on macOS with an Excel spreadsheet based on the csv it exported.

Been loving using Windows so much that I have been using Remote Desktop on my Mac. It's faster than my 2017 MacBook by a mile and it uses less battery too (not much processing being done).

At the same time, I have been brought further into the Apple ecosystem with a new Series 7 watch that I love and an AirTag. I also am using Shortcuts on my MacBook from the menu bar to wake and sleep my PC using shell scripts or SSH and to easily Shazam.

I am obsessed with making everything I do work on as many devices as possible, so I found out that I can use Shazam on Windows by installing Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) without installing an Insider beta, but it takes about 5 seconds to load if WSA is not already running. The Android version of Apple Music is also better than the web app or iTunes in some respects: it supports lossless and live lyrics. But it is not good to use while gaming due to the memory usage of WSA and is not designed for being used with a mouse. It also will count of one of your 10 download devices for Apple Music, even if you have iTunes installed.

I really would like to have a phone with sideloading but on that seems like it will be hard as I am still being pushed further into the Apple ecosystem.

Apple Silicon is resulting in a lot of cheap Intel Macs in the used market and I picked up one about 9 days ago and love it. It's one way to get GPUs on the cheap. I have Windows, macOS Intel and macOS Apple Silicon on my primary desk.

I am still perfectly happy with the balance of my 34" LG monitor and MX Keys/MX Master 3 which allows me to have an M1 Mac Mini, PC and office laptop all connected and allows switching between each very seamless.

My only issue is the questionable image quality of the M1 with the LG which is an Apple issue, not an LG one.

I miss the silence of the M1 Air I had, though about a M1 Mini. Will revisit the idea when the PS5/Xbox Series X get a mid cycle refresh/Pro upgrade. Lurking the 3D rendering thread in the Apple Silicon section so keep tabs on how that goes.

I replaced the Noctua U12A with an EK AIO 240 and used the A12 fans, it's quieter and not ramping up as high. I have fan curves set and have undervolted CPU and GPU. Priced up a custom loop but didn't feel like spending that amount.

Had some issues with more demanding games crashing, but I think I sorted it out with less aggressive negative curve offset on AMD's PBO settings (was failing Prime95 large FFT mem test).

For reasons that need a whole other topic, I think next console gen might be where I finally convert from PC gaming. With that said if Apple is still leading the way with ARM, it will be my next computer.

Interesting. I might have to look into this 'QuickDrop'. Additionally, need to test Microsoft's ToDo on iOS, Windows etcetera to see how it performs. If well, I may have to switch from Reminders...

I use Reminders for grocery lists and a few other things but I've moved many list from Reminders over to Notes with Checklists. I live off of iCloud Notes and haven't seen anything to replace it. I used to use Google Keep but it required an internet connection many years ago when I used it. They also didn't have native PC apps which is something that I like. I also used Evernote for a while but the security breach turned me off. Evernote is a pretty heavyweight App as well - it has far more editing features but I really just want something light and fast.

I like that iCloud Notes is available on macOS and iOS. There's a web version but there are bugs in Firefox which cause problems with the web version. I can run iCloud Notes on Windows and Linux if I want to by creating a macOS KVM/QEMU Virtual Machine - so I do have native app access on PC and iOS. I only still use the Nexus 7 for Android but I only use it as a clock these days.

Does Microsoft have anything like iCloud Notes?

My reminders work with my 2010 touch and macbook air
while another set of reminders work with the Mini and Ipad
same iCloud account name and wifi!
win-lose?

OneNote. And, since I have a Microsoft 365 subscription, with domain et al, I just use that for Notes.

OneNote is way overkill for what I want to do. I use Growly Notes for that level of notes. I'm looking for something that just does text, has minimal formatting and is fast and lightweight. iCloud Notes and Google Keep are good examples. Simplenote is too simple for me (it just has plain text and checklists). Evernote is too heavyweight. I think that Windows Notepad is a better example of what I'm looking for though with cloud features.

sometimes entering that 6 digit code because  wants you to for no apparent reason is annoying,
then we wonder "why do i need to log into something that logged into", did something happen?
no,  wants you to use another  device and  s!

Maybe someone is reusing your device serial number. The KVM/QEMU macOS on Linux world uses Mac serial number generators and I imagine that collisions with real serial numbers are possible.

could be....how will we really know?
everything seems fine on my end.
thanks tho!

You don't. Apple's not going to reveal their algorithm.

There's a Github project that has the serial number generator. So anyone creating a Hackintosh or Virtual Machine can run iCloud services. There are lots of people still doing this because it's a cheap way to run macOS.

I'm still a pretty heavy gamer and finally bit the bullet and upgraded my laptop to W11 last week. Got bored over the weekend though, busted out my old MBA (a mid-2013 11-incher), did a fresh install of macOS (Big Sur is the best I can do on that) and fiddled around with that while I was watching TV in the living room (still runs like a top). While I consider ease of use pretty much even between Windows & MacOS, there's still something about the latter that draws me in - can't quite put a finger on it.

That has me looking at my Mac Mini now (which is even older, a mid-2011 running High Sierra) and considering swapping that in as my 'daily driver' (now that I've got my mailboxes all cleaned out/organized, I might even give the mail app another try..........)

I need to do the mailbox cleanout thing. I do it annually and Mail runs faster, I have more free storage and there's less RAM use.

Same here - need to get in the habit of cleaning it out daily (or at least weekly). Did a 8GB RAM upgrade on the mini quite a while ago - despite the fact it's still using a normal HD, the extra RAM seems to be the key to its longevity.

 has that aura and compatibility with our other  devices we need.
after getting a macMini last month i never use the Dell XPS like i did since 2019,
perhaps there is not windows sync with anything i own.

Photo editing is much better with windows (10) and the interface like bluetooth and streaming is faster and more stable,
but  has the allure and natural functions we have been using since the 1990's that is hard to give up.

Think you pretty much hit the nail on the head.
