It was the perfect size for me and many others.

The current iPhones are too heavy and with too big screens, Apple now even considers bendable screens.

Yeah. The perfect size. You only really need one or two lines of text in any given edit window, right? The fact that the interface elements completely overwhelmed the useful parts of the screen? Not a problem I guess.

The screen was WAY too small.

We have two Z Flips and one Z Fold in our household. But after reading your post, I should doube-check, shouldn't I?😳

People who never had one should just stop speculating about them. People who have one, will most probably go for another one when the time for a new phone has reached.
so three phones... you seem sold.

but it doesnt negate what i said.

I see none in the wild when out and about.
I have seen them in store and the crease still is there and awful.

you can put up with it and that's fine.
but the masses havent bought the idea so something isnt working for the money.

I can’t tell the difference between my iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 14 Pro Max I owned before it, and there was no difference between the iPhone 13 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Pro Max I had before that. And on and on and on…

What's the difference between the Samsung S23 and S24 in a case that you can spot from 1/5/10 feet away.

If Apple was going to do a foldable iPhone we would be seeing it by now.
Looks as though the technology or the glass that doesn’t show creases is there yet

However… there will be a big difference between my XR and the 16 Pro I’m upgrading to.

I’ve been waiting for a folding iPhone since like…2018. This is the most frustrating news.

Is this even a folding phone or is it a folding Ipad Mini, a cover screen the size of the current Iphone 15, and the actual screen slightly smaller than the Ipad Mini, I wish they could graduate to a rollable phone, I hate the current phone slabs, the idea of the Z Flip is that you can do pretty much everything with the original flip phone style cover screen, someone bring back small phones, or, make a watch that is truly independent of any smartphone.

View attachment 2363190We don’t need a foldable iPhone. We just need the same iPhone with minor updates to it every year. Keep this design for another 10 years. Lol. /s

Milk that cash cow while Tim Cook caught flatfooted by AI, perhaps instead of buying Beats for 4 billion, he should have purchased that AI company that Amazon scooped up today.

Is that the Royal we?
Foldable phone sales up 23% last year.
iPhone sales up 3% last year.

Oh come on, I agree that the naysayers here don't amount to much market research, but break out the raw numbers, it is akin to saying murders up 50 percent this year in a small town, when they went from 10 to 15, how many foldable phones are we talking about sold in 2022 and 2023?

This is the same as mini phones. Everyone complained they wanted one and they didn't sell and were dropped within 2 years. Apple doesn't want to make a product to fail if they can avoid it. The vocal minority on these websites complain and complain about what Apple needs to do, but the majority of users don't care and have no interest in buying it.

True but Apple did not market them well and did you ever go into a store to try to buy one, anecdotally any salesperson I dealt with would steer you away from them, the Mini was too expensive as well, eventually a rollable will be made that can be as small as a watch and as large as a Macbook Pro, if someone could make that viable right now, Apple would be worried, maybe the watch size is a stretch, but if the device could range from the original Iphone SE to the current Ipad Pro, that would be something.

Yeah, it’s still a stupid idea. Phones don’t need to fold. It adds nothing of significant usefulness to the device.

To you, to me it allows one to do a multitude of things without opening the Phone and getting lost in a sea of apps, yes you can already tailor your phone to be more dumb, but the larger screen just invites time wasting trouble, to each his own.

They will definitely milk it. We will get those same 3 camera layout (minor camera upgrades to the lenses), slightly thinner bezels and new processor for another 5 years using the same design.

iPhone 11 Pro, 12 Pro, 13 Pro, 14 Pro, 15 Pro and sadly 16 Pro. Same design. I’d at least thought they would have added another stove top on the Pro line to make it 4 and give the base series the 3 cameras. So much for changing the design after 5 years. Lol.

Folding phones are dumb. Apple should stop flirting with the idea.

Looks like a dinky market.

I'm not even sure if I want one anymore. They're so expensive for what you get and I just can't imagine the camera in them ever being able to match a thicker phone. Just like the Mac's camera will never hold a candle to the iPhone. Too thin, and physics exists.

The smaller iPhone Pro is creeping up in size this year and I think it's finally at a perfect size for me. Was a touch small before and the Max is definitely too big. If it gets the 5x camera I'm going back down to it, even if the Max gets a 10x camera, I think, unless it's periscope, which I doubt because the aperture on those are a lot smaller typically. I don't really think I need 10x on my phone. I have nice Sony GM lenses for that on my full frame mirrorless, which I will almost always have with me in situations where I might want 10x such as travel, nature, or sports photography. The jump up to 5x is already a bit much and can affect framing of subjects that aren't quite far enough away. I would prefer 4x but with a 48mp sensor and larger aperture. Then you could effectively get 8x but at a crop that is still decent.

Thank you, OK, good, I hope they keep going up, I hate the current staid form factor.
