This is the same as mini phones. Everyone complained they wanted one and they didn't sell and were dropped within 2 years. Apple doesn't want to make a product to fail if they can avoid it. The vocal minority on these websites complain and complain about what Apple needs to do, but the majority of users don't care and have no interest in buying it.

There is nothing that would coax me to purchase a folding device if the screen is made of a soft plastic.

Apple are going to have to break the laws of physics to improve upon what is already available, so I suggest they don’t bother.

I know someone who got a Samsung Galaxy Flip, having previously owned an iPhone. She hates it because of the software, uses it in fully open mode nearly all the time, and wants her iPhone back...

What do we want???

- Better Siri
- A HomePod with a screen (Like Nest Hub)
- Longer Battery life on phones/watches
- A better screen we can see in daylight that doesn't dim when it *gets too hot*

What are we gonna get???

A folding iPhone that no one asked for.

Postponed indefinitely sounds about right while they try to figure out how to sell more of the snorkeling mask.

I don't care about a folding phone. I'd much rather they fix the display so it doesn't cause eye strain and headaches.

I'm not interested in one myself...but I'll say a company as big as apple NEEDS a foldable solution by 2026.
Just to be competitive, at the very least.

Those who cry about how thick and heavy a foldable iPhone would be, just needs to look at the VisionPro.

Practically every first gen Apple has created has gone through iterations to get it down to a more ideal form factor.
Surely this would be no different for a foldable iPhone.

Thick and heavy are irrelevant.

There is, with current materials, no way to make a foldable screen that's even remotely acceptable quality. It's gonna have a giant ugly crease in it. Every foldable phone I've ever seen has one within a week. And then they start delaminating.

Stupid idea, do not want.

People saying that Apple will (or should) make foldable phones reminds me of back when people insisted that Apple should make netbooks... and then Apple released the iPad and the MacBook Air and people stopped caring about netbooks entirely.

Foldable phones are the netbooks of the 2020s.

I've gotta get around to changing the logic board in my 11" MacBook Air. I've got the part, I just hate working on laptops.

(Yes, Apple essentially made an expensive netbook. Almost nobody bought one. I sure didn't, got a dead one for free.)

Logicboard swap is easy on those.

When a good portion of your identity is having high quality screens you don't want an ugly fold.

Dig a hole, bury the folding phone then bury the shovel.
What if a good portion of your identity is based on not getting your hands dirty?
